The beauty community is all about unity and acceptance. It isn’t age, race, gender, sexual orientation or any other factors that bring us together - but creativity and the courage to be bold and beautiful in the face of adversity. That’s why our team is excited to celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility. Every year, the world observes this day to raise awareness and celebrate the many accomplishments of transgender and gender non-conforming people all around the world.
In our case, we can’t say enough incredible things about transgender individuals and their accomplishments in beauty. From NikkiTutorials’ brave confession earlier this year to all the LGBTQ+ palette collaborations, the makeup world has become more diverse than ever before. That’s why we’ve compiled our top three beauty products you can wear this year to celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility.
It’s never been a secret that NikkieTutorials is a queen. She’s one of the biggest beauty vloggers on YouTube, with her videos racking up millions of views as she casually chats with Lady Gaga and shows off her unmatched highlighting ability. But in January 2020, she released her most powerful video yet - revealing to her 12 million followers that she is transgender.
"When I was younger, I was born in the wrong body, which means that I am transgender," she says in the beginning of the video, going on to detail her personal struggles and how she built a name for herself as NikkieTutorials - a talented makeup artist and beauty industry icon. Her long list of accomplishments include millions of social media followers, friendships with Lady Gaga and Snoop Dogg, and gorgeous collaborations with brands like Maybelline and Ofra. Celebrate Nikkie’s bravery and talent with a highlighter as beautiful as she is - the Ofra x Nikkietutorials Glow Baby Glow Highlighter.
It’s hard to decide what comes to mind first when you think of Morphe - beautiful makeup brushes or bright, colorful palettes. It goes without saying that their Live in Color Palette for PRIDE had both. Morphe's palettes are no exception. The brand released a their Artistry Palettes in 2019, supporting transgender allies and donating 100% of the proceeds to The Trevor Project in support of LGBTQ+ youth.
Morphe has plenty of other palettes to show love to the transgender community. The Hit the Lights Artistry palette features blue, white, and pink eyeshadows - perfect for a cut-crease tribute to the transgender flag!
Nikita Dragun has been very open about her journey as a transgender woman. Since beginning on YouTube in 2014, she’s shared every step as she transitioned from male to female, and worked hard to educate others on the importance of inclusion in the beauty industry. That’s why she launched DragunBeauty in 2019, an line that she describes as “for transgender people.”
Dragun Beauty is the first trans-owned beauty brand, targeted towards transgender individuals. But this powder looks gorgeous on everybody! The brand sold out overnight when it launched in March 2019, and became a history-making moment in the beauty community.
