Love!

First things first, this product was way bigger than I expected. For some reason I thought it was going to be teeny tiny, but it's bigger than my iPhone 5S, so that was a pleasant surprise. Second, this holds my makeup extremely well. I have pretty oily skin with some acne scarring/dark spots, and none of that comes through my makeup when I wear this; I use it under my Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, topped off with Too Faced's Primed & Poreless pressed setting powder, in case anyone is wondering. My makeup also tends to separate, but not with this primer. When I first put it on, my skin seems to become healthier and have a nicer overall look. It also dries pretty darn quickly, but not so quickly that you can't get it all over your face before it's stuck. My makeup lasts the entire day and evening without really needing any touch-ups, where I usually am dying to blot and repowder my face by lunchtime. And most importantly: THE SMELL! Along with electrolytes and probiotics, it also has coconut water (which I failed to read before buying, so another pleasant surprise). It's the perfect, clean coconutty smell without being too overpowering and feeling like you're slathering body lotion onto your face. I will most definitely be buying this product again. « less

Not just for dry skin!

I see a lot of comments on here regarding those with dry skin and this product being perfect for them, but I too have found that this product is great for those who suffer from oily skin! I have incredibly oily skin that even in the winter looks like I have baby oil on my cheeks and nose come the afternoon, but not when I use this primer! I remember the first time I used it, I made sure it was on a day where I didn't have anything important to do or people to see just in case the "moisturizing" qualities of the primer decided to increase the oil on my face (as if it could get any worse). To my complete and utter surprise, my skin was not only completely matte, looked AMAZING even after 8+ hrs. I have never in my life had the luxury of not having to blot like 12 times a day so I truly have found my HG!This primer is like a lotion texture as opposed to a silicone based formula which feels nice and maybe slightly tacky (vs silky) when it dries, but the make up really adheres and doesn't budge all day. Like other reviewers have mentioned, there is a smell and honestly I do not mind it one bit. I like it and it is strong at first but does not stay or linger one bit so for those who are sensitive to scents, you may still want to give this a go. I always read reviews before ordering products so I hope this helps you to make a better decision on whether or not to try out this primer. It worked wonders for me so I am hoping it will do the same for you. Some extra details: Let me be clear that I have only used this in the winter and while even in the winter I get extremely oily, I am curious to see how this primer will hold up in the summer months as not only will there be oil, but sweat. I also feel it important to note that I have oily, acne prone, and sensitive skin that is super sensitive to A LOT of products. Most primers give me small red bumps all over my forehead and cheeks, but I have been using this for about 6 months with out a problem! « less

100% recommend for dry and oily skin!

I bought this on the recommendation of the brand ambassador from Too Faced, after getting a makeover during National Lipstick Day. I have combination skin that is acne prone, and the rep used this with the Born This Way foundation. The rep suggested that while my skin may be oily, it's because it's dry that the skin is producing this oil and since this primer is infused with coconut water, it provides that hydration that my skin is lacking, and it'll prevent my skin from absorbing my foundation to try and hydrate itself. Needless to say, I bought it, and yes, while it does have a fragrance, I adore the smell of it. It applies like water, it's very lightweight, very cool, and my skin feels hydrated when I apply it. I don't find it very sticky after it sets, and I find that my foundation really stays in place when I use this primer (I use the Born This Way and Primed and Peachy foundations, both of which have worked with this primer). Many people complimented my skin after I started using this primer - my skin definitely had a nice glow to it! Some people have said it gives a dewy look, but I don't find that when I use it. I think it looks amazing, and I've continued to purchase this several times. Can't recommend it enough! Too Faced is also cruelty-free! « less

yaaasssss

I got this in a sample size from my monthly Ipsy bag. The silicone in most primers makes my combo/oily skin break out terribly, so I was very excited to try this silicone-free product. It is a white color with the consistency of a thin moisturizer. Right away I noticed the delicious coconut water smell. It goes on very smooth and sinks into your skin immediately. It felt very hydrating without feeling greasy or heavy. This primer is especially nice if you're like me and have a few dry patches on your face. I applied a little extra product to my dry areas and it masked the flaky texture, which made my foundation look perfectly smooth rather than cakey. The only thing that I didn't like so much about the application was that after it had dried and sunken into my skin, it crumbled a tiny bit when I ran my fingers over my skin. I've ran into this product with numerous silicone-free products though. So I recommend applying your foundation fairly soon after you apply the primer. This primer's main claim is hydration, so if you're looking for something to REALLY resist oil, I'd recommend some other primer targeted for oil resistance. I'd recommend this to all skin types, but mostly combo or dry. It's great for those who want a natural or glow finish rather than a matte finish. Love this primer. « less

Concept is cool, but maybe not for some oily/sensitive types

For reference: I have acne-prone, sensitive, dehydrated, oily skin. I always have texture, some redness, and 'large' pores. At my worst, my skin will dry and overproduce oils throughout the day, resulting in the weirdest combination of splotchy oil-shine, dry-patch-shine, and flakes, but my entire face being covered w a film of excess oil; at my best, my skin still dries + produces oil, but more evenly and gradually, needing only minimal blotting. So 'anti-oil/shine' + drying, as well as super/deep moisturizing products don't work for me. [I've been high maintenance all my life, lol] So this primer going on is a bit greasy and felt like a film over my skin when it settled/dried, but I was just starting out in makeup so I thought that's how it was supposed to feel. I realize now that it didn't help w maintaining hydration, and just mixed w my 'au naturale' film of excess oil - of course makeup wouldn't stay long at all. It does visibly calm redness and slightly smooth color of complexion, but my pores were still plainly visible. Lastly, I figured out it was this primer that my skin wasn't liking. Again, just starting out in makeup @ the time, I thought my skin might initially react to get used to so much product, so I toughed it out through the tiny red pimples all over [more clustered in the t-zone] and the unusual mildly uncomfortable itchiness starting 5 min in wear until I took it off at the end of the day. I'm pretty sure it was clogging my pores rather than an allergic reaction, which I'm learning may be because this contains a lot of olive oils - an oleic oil best for drier skins but possibly comedogenic for oiler/acne-prone types that would benefit more from linoleic oils. Conclusion: be wary if yu have troublesome, oily, +/or finicky skin. Otherwise, I can't say it's a bad product - I can see how the hype may be justified for others.

So my foundation does something weird on me and I’ve tried several different types. About halfway through the day my nose starts to crack and peel, but just my nose. The rest of my foundation is fine. I’ve been exfoliating more on my nose in recent weeks to try to see if it’s just dry skin. any suggestions as to why it might do this or what I could do to stop it? So the Lock-it foundation I use for formal events, Or times where I know I’m going to need a full coverage to stay on for a really long time. And the naked skin, and the shape tape foundation’s are my every day. And I use shape tape concealer, Smashbox oil primer, and Laura Mercier for my powder.

Sometimes it helps to put a little foundation on your nose but mostly a good primer will do the most help. If you don’t use primer I suggest looking into one that’s right for your skin type and that would probably help a ton. If you are using one and it is still cracking I would maybe look into a more hydrating primer, I use the Hangover Replenishing Face Primer and it works really well for my dry skin and prevents my foundation from flaking and cracking anywhere on my face.

What is a good, oil-free, hydrating primer? Whenever I use FENTY @Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation , I feel like it’s SO drying and makes my makeup look cakey. Please help! I need something that would be good for combination to oily skin! Thanks!

I can’t seem to ever get my makeup to stay or look good all day long! 3-4 hours and it looks terrible in my opinion. I use elf setting spray and a setting powder but everything fades. Foundation, eyeliner, etc. Tips? Products?
