the niacinamide + zinc has a cult following which is great because it’s a good product but it’s not for everyone. I actually saw an increase in my acne when I used it. It seemed to almost inflame my skin. However when I used the lactic acid 5% + HA I swear it fixed everything. I would recommend using the %5 before trying the 10% because the ordinary’s products are quite concentrated. Start off using the 5% every other night, dropping the product on to you fingers and not touching the dropper to your face(this can harbor bacteria in the product when you place the dropper back into the bottle (yuck)). See how your skin reacts to it. If you find it’s not irritating to your skin maybe try every night. If you find it’s not helping as much as you continue to an using it every night it every other night, then I would suggest testing out the 10%. Again if you switch to 10% try every other night first since it’s a higher concentration. I hope this helped!! -Your friendly neighborhood cosmetology and esthetician student 💞

I just purchased The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid for my acne to calm the redness. I was wondering if anyone has tried it for acne purposes and how long it took to see a difference in your skin. Please leave any reviews or recommendations on how to use this product below, thank you!

I personally have not tried this product, however I have a tried other hyaluronic acid serums and I use a lot of The Ordinary products. This serum will definitely help for your skin to be more moisturized and then retain the moisture for longer, which will hopefully lessen your skins oil production and in turn lessen your breakouts. However, it probably won't do much for your current breakouts and it won't help with acne scarring or dark spots. I really swear by The Ordinary AHA and BHA peeling solution, bc this chemical exfoliant will help your skin overtime by reducing texture, acne, and scarring (you have to keep using it over some months but you won't regret it at the end.) I also used the two other products tagged to help with sebum (oil) production and acne scarring. Hope this helped :) @Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and the Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil

My skin has cleared up significantly since I started using this. I have sensitive acne prone skin and I use this with their natural moisturizing factors morning, niacinamide at night

@Elisa it definitely should. That was mainly my problem along with hormonal breakouts on my chin and they’re all gone now besides the occasional one or two. The acid reduces inflammation and blocks the production of keratin which blocks your pores

@Siena Morley Do you think it’ll help get rid of whiteheads? That’s the only acne I have right now.

Sometimes when you start using a new skincare product, your skin may “purge” first, meaning it can cause any acne under your skin to surface so you can get rid of it and get it out of your skin. Many times it can get worse before it gets better. It’s not always instant amazing results, sometimes you need to stick with a product for a good 6 weeks or so until you start seeing better results. If it’s seriously irritating your skin, or if it seems to be a bad reaction, that’d be a different story, but all in all, it’s up to you.

I have combination acne prone skin. I am experiencing some dryness and irritation around my mouth. I use CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, this niacinamide serum, spf moisturizer in the morning and CeraVe Daily Moisturizer at night, and the AHA and BHA Ordinary Chemical peel at night 1 time a week. I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with irritation from any of these products. Am I supposed to be applying the serums around my mouth?

I have combo skin too and discovered that when my skin was dried out and dehydrated it lead to more break outs. I upped my moisturizer and it helped a lot. Maybe try the Cerave Night Moisturizer? And a gentler cleanser.

@JustineAylward yes yes yes yes yes!!!! The hydrating cleanser is a must have in every medicine cabinet!!!!!! This cleanser is choc full of ceramides that will rebuild the skin and lipid barrier. Also, maybe try the CeraVe Moisturizer Pm. It’s super lightweight and will help with redness. Lastly, pls bring your niacinamide all the way down to your lips! It’s a great soothing and healing ingredient. For more healing ingredients, you can look for kaolin clay, colloidal oats, seaweed, honey, Centella Asiatica.

This might be a lot of hydration for your combo skin, with this summer heat you might find yourself over hydrated, but I think in the winter you will adore this combination:) but hey you might like how glowing and dewy your skin will be.

Hi, everyone! For those of you who have used this product, is it normal to get small red bumps after applying it? Every time I’ve used it, I get a few of these and I assumed I was allergic to it (I’ve used another product with Niacinamide and the same thing happened). However, I also read that this could be my skin “purging” and that it’ll stop once I keep using it. I’ve been scared to apply it again lol Should I keep trying?

i think it depends ... how long have u been using ? if it’s been like 2 weeks then i think it could be purging similarly happened to me when i used it ... but if it rlly bothers u maybe just cut it out of ur routine or use it every other day

Currently searching for products to use on my birthday and I need advice on primers, longwearing foundations, concealers and powders with no flashback. So far I’m interested in trying Charlotte Tilbury’s most recent foundation and the pressed powder. Any luxury recommendations that are worth the splurge and hold up on combo/oily skin? I struggle with a lot of shine mainly between my brows and around my nose :)

I have been using the caffeine solution in my skin care routine every night before bed and am loving benefits. It makes my under eyes appear fuller and less sunken without making them appear puffy. I also like the moisturizer. It’s very simple and not too sensitive on my oily skin. The pricing is really great and reasonable for the quality and I’m continuing to try more of their products.

It’s really good but the ordinary doesn’t recommend people who have sensitive skin to use it although I did read on their reviews, if i remember correctly, that some people who have sensitive skin said that they loved it🤷🏽‍♀️idk what’s that about but if you do end up getting it do a patch test first.

@Amira Stephens See my skin is pretty weird, I had a bad reaction to 2% salicylic acid pads a few years ago. Yet since then, when I’ve used other products (even with salicylic acid in it) like acne treatments that you have to slowly start up using to build immunity, I’ve had absolutely no problems and it doesn’t take near as long to be able to use daily. That’s why I’ve been kind of iffy.

@nicole21 forever yes you're right to get a patch test. I hear it's v hit/miss w sensitive skin but if you are tolerant w salycilic acid at least w sensitive skin you are safe to use this once a week for 10 mins max

I have dry, acne prone skin and I have been trying everything to get rid of my acne for the past year! nothing works (curology, neutrogena light mask, acne washes, tea tree oil, mario badescu- you name it!) does anyone have any recommendations for a natural at home remedy for acne? I’m done with all the chemicals ingredients on my face.

I know you said no chems but the only thing that worked for me was 1 session of a chemical peel (ask for 7 layers) and drink ONLY water in place of any other beverage. ONLy WaTeR!! Don’t believe me, look at my before and afters. Still can’t believe it’s me. - 1 session of a strong chemical peel -Drink Water ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Oxy gently in circular motions until face starts feeling tingly. -and an oil free moisturizer! Let me know how it goes! Good luck!
