Good serums for dry skin and redness? I have tried the ordinary but it doesn’t seem to hydrate my skin enough

Found this at Marshall’s for $5. Smells nice. They also had a primer that I got for $15. Only used it once but love the smell.

my skin has been oily for years, i would get a pimple here and there when i usually ate one chocolate, skin has always been on the bumpy side though, and i have alot of uneven skin tone. now to try to get rid of the oils and bumpiness my sister recommend using the body shop tea tree soap, then the body shot vitamin c scrub and them the tea tree face mask and to sleep in it. i tried it and got chemical burn, completely broke me out and make my skin more sensitive to everything, i used to be able to use estee lauder double wear and now even that breaks me out. ive tried all the vitamins everyone has recommended, i tried clinique, stirvectin, hydrolic acid, now im on cerave the light blue bottle face wash, i tone put the hydrolic serum and face moisturizer im so close to giving up, my face just looks horrible now i have alot of scarring, still bumpy and red. its embarrassing, any recommendations welcomed!!

@Sandra Rivera having a good skin care regimen is always important. Making sure you cleanse and moisturize every morning and cleansing and toning every night as well. I’m using DermAware products right now for my whole skin care regimen. Has the dermatologist ever recommended chemical peels?

Tips for finding the perfect shade match for foundation? Like where should I match. I always have matched my face but I know that’s not really the best idea

It really just depends on your complexion! I have lots of red discoloration on my face so I usually swatch on my neck as it tends to be less discolored, but if your complexion is pretty even I see no reason not to swatch on your face! My arms are not even remotely the same color as my face just because of tanning, breakouts, etc. so swatching on my arm is no bueno for me but again it all depends on you personally. If you live near a Sephora you could also have them match you! They have that little machine thingy that they put up to your skin and it finds which shades in the store will match you best. If I hadn’t gone to Sephora I’d still be buying the wrong undertone foundation, so I highly recommend them!

Nyx-matte finish setting spray they have , matte and dewy as well both by nyx. you can get them at Walgreens or online on Amazon for cheaper and in a bigger bottle just a little tip hee hee😉☺️✨ I’ve only tried the matte setting spray I have not tried the dewy kind but I’m sure it works just as well the matte one does. It’s amazing my make up stays in place all day love love love this product!!!!

Currently searching for products to use on my birthday and I need advice on primers, longwearing foundations, concealers and powders with no flashback. So far I’m interested in trying Charlotte Tilbury’s most recent foundation and the pressed powder. Any luxury recommendations that are worth the splurge and hold up on combo/oily skin? I struggle with a lot of shine mainly between my brows and around my nose :)

A lot of the time when I layer skincare products they pill up on my face and idk why. Does anyone else have this issue?
Profile picture of Abia Ailleen

CombinationCombination Skin
Yes! So a lot of times it is due to applying the products in the wrong order. For example go from water to oil. Like first toner, then a light gel/ water based moisturizer that soaks it fast. Then add your moisturizer and then your serums. Sunscreen last if you use. :)

I have dry, acne prone skin and I have been trying everything to get rid of my acne for the past year! nothing works (curology, neutrogena light mask, acne washes, tea tree oil, mario badescu- you name it!) does anyone have any recommendations for a natural at home remedy for acne? I’m done with all the chemicals ingredients on my face.

I know you said no chems but the only thing that worked for me was 1 session of a chemical peel (ask for 7 layers) and drink ONLY water in place of any other beverage. ONLy WaTeR!! Don’t believe me, look at my before and afters. Still can’t believe it’s me. - 1 session of a strong chemical peel -Drink Water ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Oxy gently in circular motions until face starts feeling tingly. -and an oil free moisturizer! Let me know how it goes! Good luck!

Honestly I did like three to four different sessions of chemical peels and they really were life changing. Unfortunately for me my acne continued so I went on Accutane

I’ve asked for recommendations for foundations a bit lately but I always ask for drugstore products. Now I’m just asking for any suggestions for foundations for dry skin, my go to has been e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation but now with the weather changing even it’s looking kind of dry and flaky on me, even though I’ve switched to my thick moisturizer and prep my skin thoroughly beforehand. I really want to find a foundation with good coverage that’s also very hydrating and I just haven’t had any luck with any I’ve tried so far, so any suggestions are much appreciated.

With so many people moving into serums and acids just a reminder: You should NOT mix these VITAMIN C + AHAS/BHAS : Combining retinol with Vitamin C is a recipe for peeling, redness and irritation, in short, a total disaster for the health of your skin RETINOIDS + AHAS/BHAS: damages skin moisture barrier and can cause irritation, redness, dry skin over time; use separately and sparingly RETINOIDS + VITAMIN C: may cause over exfoliation, resulting in increased skin and sun sensitivity; separate into day/night routines Benzoyl peroxide + vitamin C OIL-BASED + WATER-BASED. GLYCOLIC ACID + SALICYLIC ACID: too many acids can strip the skin and damage its ability to recover NIACINAMIDE + VITAMIN C: use in careful moderation. Some studies show that They stabilize each other some shoe that mixing vitamin c can result in a niacin flush (red irritation to the skin). -Retinols should mostly be used at night - Vitamin C should mostly be used at night -Wait 20 mins when layering multiple serums (if you find your skin can tolerate it in one setting) -Don’t forger your SPF 30 during the day -When introducing acids to your face “purging” is only normal to a certain extent

My makeup always looks cakey even when I moisturize like crazy. I’ve used a bunch of different moisturizing gels and creams and I use face oil and I use hyaluronic acid. I do that twice a day usually and my makeup always looks like butt like a hour into the day. What do I do?

Any suggestions of exfoliators that are gentle on the face and work well with combination, acne prone and sensitive skin?
Profile picture of Timisha Hawkins

If you have acne prone/sensitive skin, I would not recommend using a physical exfoliant of any kind. A mild chemical exfoliant would be best! I like The Ordinary 5% lactic acid. It’s gentle, but effective, and should not irritate the skin.
