i’m dry/combo skin

- Sephora User

this is the first primer that actually works for my normal-dry-dehydrated skin, i am impressed

- Mecca User

tatcha has created a product that is exactly how it is described, it makes your face feel so soft and silky prior to foundation but it also is not heavy or greasy at all

- Qvc User

i love how lightweight it is and how it makes your skin feel like silk

- Sephora User

it’s slightly mattifying which is nice because my skin is naturally dewy (not oily), so it’s nice to have a little more control over the dewy factor

- Sephora User

it is extremely mattifying and i've honestly seen a reduction in the visibility of my pores

- Sephora User

color correction

my skin is so smooth and i love the color correcting

- Sephora User

really fills and smooths my skin so foundation and concealer just have to color correct

- Sephora User

fyi, the product looks demi-matte on the skin

- Sephora User

highly recommend you to give this a try if you are in need of a great primer with a silky feel and semi-matte to matte finish

Tatcha, take my coin

I watched Jackie Aina's review and was intrigued; the primer made her skin look beautiful (well, even more so) and I wondered if it would do they same for me with my larger-than-life pores and disgustingly oily skin. So I strutted into Sephora, intending to get a closer look at the stuff. As soon as I picked it up, my wallet quivered. I even heard a voice in my head say, "Oh no baby, what is you doin'?" Even so, I opened the jar, took a whiff, and played in it a bit to see how it felt. It kinda smells like bubblegum to me, but refined, snobby bubblegum with less of the artificial scent. It feels like velvet and, when blended into the skin, makes your face feel baby smooth. I was sold.I have dark skin--I'm Jackie Aina's highlight shade--and it doesn't leave a white cast on me, but I know if left a cast on her. I might even dare to wear it alone one day--it makes my skin look that good on its own. Right now, I apply it 10 minutes after moisturizing, then wait 5 minutes before applying foundation. I use a pump of Lancome Teint Idole liquid foundation and mix it with a pump of YSL Touche Eclat blur primer and apply it with the E.L.F. ultimate blending brush. This routine leaves my skin looking naturally flawless. My gigantic pores are minimized and the oil is kept at bay throughout most of the day. When the oil does seep through, though, instead of looking oily, my skin looks radiant.Huge pores? Invest. Oily skin? Invest. Textured skin? Invest. Don't sleep on this. « less

Game Changer and Worth the Price!

I first received a sample of this product with one of my online purchases. I was always intrigued by the science (who would've thought to put pressed silk in a primer!) of this product, but the price tag made me hesitate. After trying the sample, I was impressed and bought the full size during the VIB Rouge sale and I'm so glad that I did! It's a game changer for my foundation routine! I have very dry skin and some very large pores along the apples of my cheeks. I've always avoided silicone based primers for my pores because of my overall dry skin and that they're not very good for you. Foundation (I use Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte and Tarte Shape Tape) always has a tendency of seeping into my pores and super fine lines after an hour or two. However, after using this primer, my foundation stays smooth and it looks like a soft focus filter has been applied my entire face! I've used this primer alone with foundation and have even layered the Becca Backlight primer on top to give me some glow and both were beautiful finishes! A super small amount goes a long way! Once, I accidentally grabbed just a little too much product. Since my pores were already saturated with the primer, it kept pilling around my face. It was easily fixed by brushing away the excess product. I don't have acne prone skin so I can't speak for the primer's ability to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. I couldn't recommend this enough! So worth the price and investment! Less

I absolutely love this primer, and this entire brand. It goes in so smoothly and minimizes my pores while hydrating my face. It’s natural ingredients as well so it’s makeup that also has some skincare in it (true skin care!). It’s a bit pricey but it’s well worth the amount and quality of the product.

Not A Favorite

This is an okay primer. It's feels too heavy on my skin for my personal liking. My skin feel like it can't breathe. I normally use Bare Minerals prime time primer and I prefer that compared to this. I was interested in this for the claim that it doesn't clog your pores though I feel like it would. Compared to a pore filling primer that can clog your pores, I don't know if this product is any different. Instead of filling your pores, Tatch primer is working as a barrier. Wouldn't that be blocking your pores? Wouldn't that barrier be clogging your pore by creating a layer that is ultimately covering your pores? Wouldn't that clog your pores by keeping all that build up from your skin care products, your moisturizer and dead skin cells? I don't know if that's any different or beneficial compared to another primer. It seems gimmicky. The product is to hyped. I mean 267 reviews and the product only has a 4.1 rating.I don't see a difference in my pores or makeup. It feels heavy, drying and doesn't make my skin feel smooth. I have combination skin. My Bare Minerals prime time primer makes my skin feel smooth and silky 10x more than this and only for $20 compared to Tatcha's $52 primer. I'm not impressed though if you have oily skin this may be for you. This a pass, which is a shame as I normally like Tatcha products. « less

This is my favorite primer! It’s expensive so it better be!! I have dry or combo skin so it’s neither too matte nor too hydrating. It smells nice and goes on easy! Makeup lasts alllll day

Primer recommendations for sensitive, blemished, textured skin? Something that’s pore-filling, skin smoothing, but still hydrating? I have favourite products/holy grails for most of my makeup steps, except for primer. I’ve never really fallen in love with a primer, maybe because of my problematic skin. I stay away from mattifying primers because those tend to cling to my acne dry spots, and then my makeup starts flaking/peeling off in those spots. With hydrating primers tho I don’t get the smoothing effects, and all of my “face craters” can get enhanced. Maybe I’m asking for a miracle, but it be great if someone who has had similar issues can recommend a primer! #primer #problemskin #complexion

I’m looking for a couple of things. I’m looking for a primer that will keep foundation out of my pores. I’m looking for a full coverage foundation (like one that doesn’t require concealer expect for under eye correction) that is compatible with combo skin. I’m looking for an under eye concealer that won’t set into my fine lines. Lastly, I’m looking for a setting spray that actually makes my make up look on point all day. Thank you guys!

I love using the Tatcha silk canvas. I know it’s a little pricey but a little goes a long way so it lasts a long time. Elf also makes one that is similar to the silk canvas & more affordable. My second favorite primer is POREfessional by Benefit. For full coverage foundation I’ve been loving Born this way by Toofaced or Urban Decay All Nighter. Concealer is always Tarte Shape Tape. I’ve tried so many others but I always go back to Shape Tape. As for setting sprays Mac prep + prime fix plus or UD All Nighter setting spray.

You should probably do a combo of primers. You could use a more hydrating primer for the perimeter of your face and then I’d highly recommend Tatcha Silk Canvas for the tzone! They have a small size for like $22 you could try first. That lasted me for at least 6 months just using it in my tzone and smoothing out my pores. I just bought the regular size and I can’t imagine using anything else at the moment!

Hey guys, sorry if this is gross but I’m so confused. Why does my face look like this when I put on foundation? Its been happening for a while and idk if it means my face is really dry or if it’s fungal or what. Please help!

Try gently exfoliating, then use your lotion or face cream and moisturizer, leave that for a few minutes to soak in then what I like doing is using the setting spray to prevent any extra moisture throughout the day and also and also if it’s to moist the foundation won’t grip. Once that is dry take a generous amount of primer and apply it. Once again I like to lock it with my setting spray or just give it a few minutes to soak in/ dry. Then go in with your foundation and be sure to set everything in place with your setting spray. Also Elf Poreless Putty Primer is a great drug store alternative for the Tatcha Primer.

Give the Tatcha primer a try (they have a sample size)! Let it set in your skin for 5min if you can, before you apply foundation. It’s my fav by far. I wear full coverage foundation, as well.
