Suited for ~Oily Skin

I tested half of my face with Tatcha’s liquid primer and the other half with Tatcha’s original clay primer to test out the difference. I have dry/eczema skin with eczema on my cheek bones and forehead. As backwards as it seems that the liquid primer suits best for oily skin (or oily areas) because it doesn’t suffocate the skin with so much product, therefore reduce the stimulation of oils in the skin. The original clay primer works best for my overall dry skin because it’s protecting my skin from water loss and smooths down the flakiness (yes!). Focusing just on the liquid primer... it sets very smoothly and thinly. Lightweight (or feels non-existent) as it claims to be. With eczema, this doesn’t cause me any skin irritation or flare-ups (yay!). Since it’s oil-free, the primer won’t trap itself into my pores to cause acne, so I think it’s safe to apply on top of acne-prone skin. It doesn’t noticeably whiten the skin like Tatcha’s clay primer so it won’t cause my foundation to look lighter than I wanted to.

Dry skin saver. No need for foundation.

The original formula didn't quite work for me, so I had super high hopes on this liquid version and I had to snatch one as soon as it became available at my local Sephora. I have super dry skin (& maturing) so usually any mattifying products can be problematic. I stopped wearing foundation all over my face. If I do, it'd be partial or lightly concealing certain areas then translucent powder. So I needed something to somehow fill out pores and hiding imperfection of my skin surface. This is perfect product for that! This liquid formula glides on my skin literally silky and it's so smooth. It gives me nice satin finish and for dry skin person like me, I almost won't need setting powder after this. Or I can only lightly powder on my T-zone so it keeps powder usage to minimum. I use to love Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm, which I think is very similar except Josie's formula is balm and heavier. I found Tacha's last longer and feels more polished. Formula-wise, it feels almost identical to TOUCH IN SOL No Poreblem Primer. It's way more affordable and works so I liked it too, but I couldn't live with the strong smell. Tatcha, on the other hand, the smell is so gentle and soothing I found. Anyways, my point is, If you have dry skin you're gonna love this. All of Tatcha's products have skin loving ingredients as well, which is a big plus. This is the only product I can wear to look nicer worry-free. Thank you for creating this, Tatcha!!

I got this product for

I got this product for free for testing purposes and thought it was one of the best primers I have ever tried. I have never had good experiences with primers in the past. No matter what they were advertised to do, they never seemed to do it. This Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas is totally different. It does EVERYTHING right. It doesn't affect my makeup and feels like I am wearing nothing at all, yet I know I am wearing it because it makes my skin look so good. Just as Tatcha claims, this product really does smooth skin, blurs imperfections, and hides my lines and pores. Even though I always wear foundation over top of it, I wear a lot less now because this silk canvas has been helping prevent breakouts and even my skin tone. My skin also looks and feels less dry. One pump is all you need to perfect your skin each day. It looks and feels like a thick moisturizer when it comes out of the bottle but once it is on your skin it is so lightweight. It helps my other makeup last all day. The packaging is adorable and high quality. The smell is sort of a light floral when you first apply it, but it does smell sort of peppery when rubbing it in. Eventually though the fragrance is nonexistent. This is the only primer I will be using in the future, it has totally changed my outlook on primers. I recommend it to anyone who is skeptical about using a primer or anyone who is obsessed with primers! Less

This product gave me Hives

Upon application it had really nice texture, my skin felt instantly softer and slightly blurred without it feeling overly matte. I have quite smooth skin and pores on the smaller side (due to having drier skin and targeted skincare routine). This primer made my foundation look cakey, settle, and separate, all things that don’t normally happen to me. I started to notice the dryness and itchy within about 3 hours on having it on. By the time I washed my face in the evening I was covering in slightly itchy, red hives, that almost looked my acne. The next morning I still had a little texture but nothing as bad as it had been the night before. I tired it a second time the following day just make sure it wasn’t being caused by new face oil I had also used for first time the previous day. The reaction I had the second was even worse, I had to take a Benadryl just to calm my skin. I’m not even mad it didn’t work for me, I’m glad I didn’t gain a new favourite primer that costs $68 CND.
