I love this primer! I've tried endless primers and pore blurring type products in all price points but when I spotted this one in stores one day, I finally found my holy grail! I'm only late 20's so I can't really comment much as far as wrinkles though I'm going to assume it helps- certainly covers the few fine lines on my forehead. It is AMAZING for scarring! I have some fairly deep acne and chickenpox scars left from childhood, those deep kind of almost holes and this primer really works wonders! Yes, it is rather thick but you don't need a whole lot and there's benefits to the thickness. It fills in those scars or fine lines and what's was really awesome was I had quite a bad cystic acne outbreak a few months back and the thickness of the primer really helped my skin look smoother. With regular acne or any sort of raised mole or blemish, more than just covering the redness with a concealer and foundation, you can actually largely eliminate the appearance of the bump in your skin. And it goes without saying, if it can do this much for scarring and blemishes, it is the first pore blurring type product I've ever truly believed worked! Makes my skin so smooth and I feel like I don't need as much foundation as a result. Also, really great for dry skin! « less

Best Primer ever

I’m in my 40’s, have dry skin with large pores, spots of texture, fine lines but no real wrinkles yet. I don’t know how someone with great skin would feel about this but speaking for those of us that want to fake good skin this is hands down the best primer on the market. I work in the beauty industry and have tried hundreds of primers. This is what you need if you want to hide your pores, smooth out your texture and keep foundation from creasing in your lines. It has a thicker texture than most primers but is really easy to work with if you use a small amount and warm it up between your fingers before applying. If you use too much it feels heavy but is weightless and completely comfortable when used sparingly. The best way to really disguise pores is to press the product into those areas. I kind of do a patting, upward swiping motion to apply everywhere else.I’m on my 5th jar and have gotten my bff, both our Moms and her daughter hooked on this as well. Frankly, I get so much makeup from my job it doesn’t make sense to buy any. I keep myself and my people well stocked but this primer... we buy it. At this not at all cheap price. It’s that good. Seriously. Try it. « less

This Primer is a game Changer for me!

I didn't think ANYTHING could woo me away from my 'previous' primer. But I got a Deluxe Sample of this and was so impressed, I immediately purchased the full sized product. A couple comments: This product is very thick. Some people may not like this analogy, but to be frank, I consider it 'spackle' for my face. This product comes with a learning curve. I actually watched several videos to assist me with proper application. I have terrible combination skin. Wrinkles. Lines. Old acne scars. Pores that scream 'Grand Canyon'. This primer softens all these things. My dreaded 11's are here to stay unless I get plastic surgery, but this smoothing primer does reduce their appearance. I will also say this: I had family in town last weekend which meant lots of pictures. I am not exaggerating when I say, "I will never willingly get in front of the camera without THIS primer." With this primer and my regular makeup, my skin looks pretty amazing. If you have really good youthful skin, you may find this primer is too heavy for you. If that is the case, you may want to use something lighter that reveals your natural beauty and perfection! ♥ (REALLY!) But if you have wrinkles, large pores, acne scars or uneven skin tone, this primer is awesome. When I wear it, my skin looks fabulous! One last comment - I wore this for a week - then - just for grins - went back to my previous primer. I was dismayed at how inferior my skin looked with my 'old' primer. End result is clear - there was no question - this Tarte Smoothing Primer has become my #1 and absolutely provides lighter, brighter, more even, fabulous looking skin. « less

not great

Let me start of by saying that I am 22 years old with normal to dry skin. This primer just did not do the job. It made my makeup look cakey and actually reduced wear time of my makeup. I live in Texas so it's pretty hot and this primer did help with the humidity or the heat. This product just did not work for me. After doing some research I realized this was more for mature skin to provide a youthful appearance. So if you are on the younger side this not the product for you. I returned the primer and got the smash box primer it was the best decision ever. I

HG Primer

I will be honest, I was never huge on face primer because I never found a primer that could ever live up to it's claims. The last decent face primer I liked was Hourglass, but did I love it.. no. However, everything changed when my friend introduced me to this Tarte primer. First time I used this primer was when I went to Disneyland. So after cleansing my face, I always apply a simple moisturizer, in addition, sunscreen since I was going to be under the sun. Then, I applied this primer over (not sure if that is the correct way -- but it was effective). After 8 hours under the hot son, I checked my makeup (thinking everything was melting or drying out) .. my face/pores was still smooth and my makeup was still in place! Then checked back after 4 hours, still the same .. maybe a little dewy but that healthy glow dewy look. Did the same routine the next day for Disneyland, same results! Aside from Disneyland, I used it when I went bar hopping/lounges, danced the whole night around sweaty drunk people.. my makeup was still perfectly in place, smooth pores, and just an overall nice glow. Had to purchase this primer in a heart beat! I would have never bought a primer for $40, however, I find this primer necessary/essential to have! *If it helps, I have acne-prone skin and this did not break me out.

I need a new primer desperately. Every single day I wear makeup, by 3, it looks gross and you can see it wearing off. I’ve tried endless setting powders, primers, and foundations. I need a primer that will make it last all day for oily skin. I currently am using nivea men post shave balm and infallible 24 hr fresh wear and revlon colorstay along with Mario madescu setting spray. I only have money for drug-store products. #oilyskin #foundation #primer #help #ugh #drugstore

I agree with the Elf Putty Primer. I also like the Tarte Smoothing Primer! It’s more expensive, so I use Elf for everyday and Tarte for weekends/special occasions.

Currently searching for products to use on my birthday and I need advice on primers, longwearing foundations, concealers and powders with no flashback. So far I’m interested in trying Charlotte Tilbury’s most recent foundation and the pressed powder. Any luxury recommendations that are worth the splurge and hold up on combo/oily skin? I struggle with a lot of shine mainly between my brows and around my nose :)

Hey guys! I’ve had a lot of trouble with oil coming through my foundation. I’ve tried different foundations, primers, powders, and moisturizers but I can never seem to stay matte for more than an hour. Any suggestions for fairly inexpensive products that might help?

I cannot seem to find a good primer/foundation combo for my large pores. I have spent so much money on different products and cannot find anything that works. I have tried dozens of pore filling primers, blur sticks, powders etc. I’ve tried applying everything different ways, nothing... I’m so upset. I have combination skin. Flaky and dry on the outer part, little bit oily in the tzone but not crazy. but these pores under my chin, over my lips and my cheeks are horrible and it seems the pore fillers are making them look even bigger. HELP!

I swear by this primer! Alittle goes a long way! It not only minimizes the appearance of pores but also does a great job in keeping me matte in my oily areas . I would say to def not go over board ( trust me it’s happened to me) because if you do it might not work as well with your foundation .

I can’t seem to keep foundation from settling into forehead lines or into my cheek dimples. Can anyone recommend a good primer and a good foundation that might help with this? For foundation I currently use Physician’s Formula, but I have tried so many and can’t seem to find one I love. Help! I’m pretty pale, I typically use the lightest or second lightest shade in every foundation brand I’ve tried. #help #primer #foundation #finelines 22yearsold #drugstore #sephora #recommendations
