I loved Tarte eye shadows in general; I constantly find myself dipping into the Tarteist Pro palette because I can trust that those eyeshadows will not budge (even without primer!), will not crease, and will last on my lids all day, plus stay as vibrant and pigmented as they were when I first applied them to my eyes. I was thinking this would be the same, but it's sadly not...
Firstly, I have seen this particular palette floating around a few times. It has never been as hyped as any of the other Tarte palettes (and now I can see why...), so I was just assuming it was maybe not as outstanding and was just average. My cousin who actually works at Sephora recommended I get this palette, however. She was explaining how much more improved the eyeshadow formula was, and how nice the colours could compliment me . No offence to my dear cousin, but I regretted this purchase.
The biggest problem with these eyeshadows came in their first impression; the colour layout. Even looking at the colour variety in this palette is sad; they're all muted down, semi glittery (and rather chalky, but we'll get to that later) shadows that had hints of grey, purple, and nudes in them. I couldn't imagine using ONLY this palette for a complete eye makeup look, which is rather inconvenient. Aside this, I decided to dip in and try the shadows for real.
One word: fallout. I was completely astonished; no Tarte eyeshadow (or any eyeshadow I've ever tried, and that's saying something) has ever been so messy in application. In addition to this, the formula was no near as velvety and pigmented as the other Tarte eyeshadows I've tried. Instead, they were chalky and barely showed in colour. They didn't stay put, either; they were basically the opposite of what you'd want in an eyeshadow.
Long story short, I returned the palette to my local Sephora because I had no use for it. I can imagine you COULD possibly use some of the lighter and glittery tones for the inner corner of your eye for a highlight, or even under the brow bone, but there's no guarantee it'll last the day. Overall, I am very disappointed in this palette and am hoping Tarte keeps their pre-existing eyeshadow formula for the new upcoming palettes they release
