Limited Edition Shades are AMAZING

I purchase the cobalt, mint and rose gold shades and did a review on my youtube channel (Makeup by Amy Michelle). I'm also about to purchase the white shade right now too. This clay pot eyeliners are absolutely amazing they are waterproof, smudge proof and last all day. The cobalt shade is the most beautiful blue and is surprisingly very wearable and definitely my favorite. I also really love the mint color. I have worn the cobalt and mint colors as upper lash line liners and lower lash line and they perform great for both purposes. The white shade will perform just like the cobalt and mint shade. The rose gold clay pot is beautiful but is a different texture and consistency than the other liners. I prefer to use it more as a pop of color on the lid or a as a highlight in the inner corner of the eye. I have used it as a liner but it is definitely more subtle and you have to build it up.All liners do dry super fast and build up very nicely. Overall I'm so impressed with the quality of these clay pots and one of the best formulas out there.Last, they perform best with a very precise brush that has a fine tip so that you can get the liner precise and make it as thick or thin as you want. Can't say enough great things about these clay pots in general and these amazing limited edition colors. « less

I purchased Tarte's EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Liner in Black and fell in love!! The liner goes on so smooth and lasts all day. The black was highly pigmented and I noticed I didn't need to layer it on, it just goes on in one clean sweep! I love the dual ended brush that comes with it. The thinner tip is perfect for doing wing or cat eye liner and the thicker tip is perfect for smudging! I highly recommend this to product to anyone searching for an eyeliner that will give you precision and long wear... or anyone who enjoys liquid eyeliner, this is an easy transition from liquid to clay or gel eyeliner.

I'm really enjoying how effective and beautiful Tarte EmphasEYES™ Waterproof Clay Shadow / Liners are. I've already enjoyed Bronze and Indigo, and now tried Plum which is so beautiful and makes my brown eyes sparkle. There's no doubt in my mind that these Tarte Shadow/Liners are the top non-pencil liners available. I'm not the most agile with some of the liquid or semi-liquid liners that aren't pencil or makers, but this one is so easy and it always seems to look as if it's been done by a professional. What's impressive is that it applies so evenly as a liner that I never see any line breakage even if I don't make it from one end of the lash line to the next. With traditional liquid liners, sometimes it's difficult to join a started line together and have it look like it's a continuous line. Never a problem with this liner. The other thing I really like is that as a liner, this looks less harsh than the looks I get from a traditional liquid liner. It's a softer and warmer looking line, which makes me look more approachable. The dual ended brush that comes with this product is really excellent and makes applying this a breeze. One end of the brush is for a perfect line, and the other end for shadow application. I'm impressed at how Tarte didn't skimp with the brush, unlike other manufacturers who often include brushes that aren't sufficient for the product application. I'll be able to use these brushes years after the product is gone. So many times, I've found that the best product application depends on a good brush. I had really great results from the deep blue Indigo. I used a silvery shadow as my base. Then I used the Indigo to make a very thin precision line defining my eyes and then very slightly smudged it the other corner of my eyes. The look was very elegant and simple. I created a very similar look with the Plum, using a slightly shimmery silvery lilac, almost pearlized shadow, instead of the silver as my base. These looks are nice changes from heavier smudged and smoky eyes. I like the look this creates as both shadow and liner. It really is easy to use and it has such a soft finish that isn't harsh like so many other liquid or semi-liquid products. While I'm not the greatest with liquid and potted liners, generally preferring pencils, this turns out to be somewhere in the middle - the look is more professional and more formal, but it's not overly formal and harsh like a liquid. I find that these shades last a long time as shadow and liner, and is easy to smudge, although once applied it doesn't budge. It smudges evenly, and much better than some other products made for smudging. It even stays put on my inner rims without irritating my eyes. The Indigo works really well with my brown eyes, making the whites look whiter, and the Plum gives my brown eyes an extra sparkle (according to my husband). The Bronze is beautiful. This product can be used for elegant traditional looks and it can also be used for those that are more contemporary. Using this as liner, I've even been able to create a bit of drama just by adding a base shadow in a light shade, black mascara, and a couple of times added mascara coordinated to the color of the liner on the lips of my lashes over the black mascara. Simple to create, it looks really good and took only two or three minutes from start to finish. I love these liners/shadows. They're so easy to use. It's easy create a style that looks as if it tool a long time to pull off but only takes a few minutes. I highly recommend them (and wish that Tarte made a green shade). « less

Excellent eyeliner...

This makes an excellent waterproof eyeliner. I have very oily skin and do not have much luck with anything other than powder eyeshadows, but I use this as an eyeliner and it works great. It comes with an application brush which is a good quality brush and the small brush works great for applying eyeliner. The other end of the brush is great for blending and smudging. Like I said I have very oily skin and I also have allergies so I have to use eye drops several times a day and this liner stays on all day without budging or smudging or fading away. Its consistency makes it glide on so smoothly and the brush makes it easy for precision application when lining my eyes. The most I’ve used it as an eyeshadow is to smudge it with the brush when creating a smoky eye effect and that’s worked great for me, too. I wish it came in more color choices, but for now I have tried the Plum, Indigo and Black. Each of the colors are bold and vivid and they also all look great when applied. This is a fantastic eyeliner that I’d recommend giving a try. « less

Beware this product dries out

This is my 3rd Tarte eyeliner I have purchased. I've tried emphasEYES Inner rim liner and Indelible Wink liquid liner. I also use Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. Because this brand uses organic ingredients, the shelf life is much reduced and the quality is poorer compared to other make-up that uses synthetic materials. This clay liner was great when I had it for about a week and a half. And lo and behold, like the other products I've used from this line, they start to dry out FAST or become hard to manage. Within week 2 of purchasing this product, I noticed a big crack in the pot and the consistency of the product being drier. When I try to apply the product now, it flakes all over the place and the clay doesn't co-operate when used with the brush. It's a disaster and I have to keep brushing the bits of liner dust off my face with a big brush. I can't see this liner being used as a shadow as the consistency is not blendable enough, unless you want to goop the whole thing over your lid. The brush itself is mediocre. The thin sided part spreads apart instead of staying firmly packed together to create a good line. Because my liner became dry, I tried to wet the brush to see if it would work better. Instead the liner became hard to apply on my lids, probably since it is "waterproof". I only give this product 1 star, because after all the hassle of putting it on, it does stay on all day without smudging. Just a bit of re-application is needed on the corners though after a days work. I'm losing hope in this brand. The mascara I was using is great for a week or two, then it becomes clumpy... and the inner rim liner constantly broke into bits when I used it. My search continues for a better make-up brand that uses organic products... or I may just go back to ones with synthetic products. We'll see. « less
