What a great product!

Amazonian Clay Full Coverage 12 hour foundation I have a lot of issues when it comes to my face. I have a lot of redness and bumpiness on my cheeks and chin. Even though the bumpiness isn't an issue on my nose and forehead, redness definitely is. I very seldom get acne, but I would describe my skin as oily, especially on my nose and cheeks. In addition, I also have very sensitive skin. I have to be really careful about what chemicals I put on my face. I have used cosmetics, facial cleansers, make-up remover that have made my face itch like crazy. I have tried many different types of foundation. I have tried some very cheap ones, I have tried many mid-priced department/drug store brands and even a few higher end foundations. But regardless of how much I pay or where I purchase it, the result is always the same. It looks great when I first apply it, but after a short time, (generally 4 hours or less) the shine and redness start peeking through again. I've started to think that maybe my expectations for a foundation are unrealistic, and simply not available in one product. Obviously, things like oil-free and suitable for sensitive skin are important, but for me, the three things I was most looking for were 1. Lightweight 2. Full, yet natural looking coverage and 3. Long-lasting. But I had almost given up hope of ever finding a foundation that would give me all 3 things. The amount I've been spending on foundation has slowly been creeping up, so I decided maybe it was time to consider a high-end foundation. I spent about 3 days researching different foundations and reading reviews. Finally, I narrowed it down to 4 I was interested in trying. This product was the most expensive of the 4. This foundation is pretty pricey, so I didn't want to invest in a foundation I wasn't even sure I was going to like. I read a lot of positive reviews, but honestly, I was skeptical. It just seemed too good to be true. Rather than shelling out the money for a full tube right away, I decided to see if I could somehow get a free sample. I was able to get a free sample. I was both nervous and excited to try this product. I wasn't at all sure what I expect. I thought it might be very heavy and feel like a mask. I also wasn't sure exactly what shade I needed. I. The lady where I got the free sample was very helpful. She helped me pick up the right shade and also gave me a sample. Honestly, I didn't really have high expectations for this foundation. I was expecting to be disappointed yet again. I purchased a cheap make-up brush and applied it that way. I was blown away when I looked in the mirror. A little of this goes a long way. It completely covered the redness and the bumps. It gave me a flawless finish. But I knew the real test was still to come. How long would it last? I have now been wearing this foundation for 12 hours, and it is still going strong. It still looks amazing. It also feels incredibly light on. I hardly even feel like I'm wearing foundation. This foundation has given me, at last, everything I was looking for. This is the most expensive foundation I've ever purchased. But in my opinion, it is well worth the money. I truly hope this product is never discontinued. I am seriously in love with this foundation. « less

Highly recommended

I was hesitant to purchase this foundation, would I pick the right color, is this the right formula for me etc...? I read reviews from QVC and other sites, tried as best I could to figure out if this foundation would be too yellow for my skin and in the end I went ahead and ordered this product, I can say that I am so happy that I did order this foundation. As summer is technically over I have been wanting a heavier foundation. I have always had very good skin, thank you genetics, but as I age, I am 41 now, I have developed a few age spots and some melasma which I am working on trying to fade. I use sunscreen like a fiend but still have some sun damage to contend with. I have been trying to get away with tinted moisterizers for too long and have finally accepted defeat. This is not to say I want a heavy mask of foundation or to suffocate my skin, I want something breathable, good for my skin and natural looking. Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundaiton is the winner. I really wanted to get the foundation with the brush but as many of us have noted the foundation shades with the brush are yellow based, the other Tarte foundation being sold without the brush is more pink based. I have very similar coloring to Julianne Moore, very fair skin with pink undertones. From most of the reviews I have read the Fair seemed like it would be too light even for me, I think someone without sun damage and without freckles would do well with the Fair but other than the most alabaster among us I would stay away from the Fair shade. So I was torn between the Light (yellow based) and the Ivory (pink based), color descriptions listed on tarte website. I ended up, after much consideration ordering the Light, as I thought the yellow might even out some of my redness. The color is perfect! Upon first receiving my order I was so happy I ordered the foundation with the brush. I have many foundation brushes but this one is so dense and soft! It is really lovely to buff out the foundation. I squeezed a little bit on the back of my hand, dotted the foundation on my cheeks, chin and forhead then buffed into my skin with the brush. The texture is outstanding, very creamy and very spreadable. A little goes a long way, the first time I used the foundation I squeezed out about a quarter size amount, way too much. Even dime size is too much, maybe half a dime size is perfect. After buffing I applied a little extra to the areas that I have melasma for some extra coverage. The finish is so beautiful! I wouldn't exactly call this full coverage, medium coverage would be a better description. It looks natural, not cakey or thick. I did read that it is noticable on dry patches, so I did my normal routine, vitamin C serum followed by moisterizer then this foundation. Though the skin on my forhead and cheeks can be dry at times I have not noticed any patchiness. I highly recommend this foundation. « less

I switched from Bare Minerals & love it!!!

I'm in my early 40's and must tell you that it takes a lot to get me to switch my foundation! But when I was younger my skin was so oily, so I always wore powder foundations. I found Bare Minerals here probably about 10 years ago, and that is all I wore. I would try others in a pinch, but nothing was even close to being as good as BareMinerals! The one thing I hated about it was it was so messy, with all the excess powder flying around in the air even after I tapped off the excess. And the brush was a love/hate relationship...it applied wonderfully until it would start breaking off little hairs on my face! Anyway, as I hit 40 a couple of years ago my skin definitely started changing. It is more on the dry side now, so I decided I started looking too powdery with the BareMinerals. I saw the presentation for this and the reviews were awesome so I decided to try it in Nov '11. I will say I didn't get the same results as on tv - as far as coverage, I would say this is more of a medium coverage. It doesn't camouflage all of my spots (old acne scars or other dark spots). But it still gives great coverage to where it really does look very natural, which is what I want my makeup to do! You don't want to look like you're wearing makeup - you just want your skin to look naturally beautiful :) And this does just that! I will say it takes a few tries to find the right amount to use (I always used too much to start with in the beginning). You really only need very little product, which is why mine lasted almost 4 months!!! I was getting BareMinerals delivered monthly, so I'm loving the savings! And just as much as I love this foundation, I also love the brush. It doesn't shed - not one bit!!!!! I don't think I could apply this product so perfectly without this brush - it is awesome! You just have to learn how to get a very small amount of foundation on it and then smooth it out to an entire area on your face. It is amazing :) And I only washed my brush in the beginning because the hostess said she washes hers daily. But that's not what the product rep said, so I quit washing it and haven't washed it since. I keep it dry with bristles up in a cup. It is still perfect - not clogged up looking like my BareMinerals one. The only thing I would ask tarte to please start doing is to make this available on auto-delivery so I don't ever run out, and to give us the option of ordering with or without a brush. Since the brush is phenomenal AND long-lasting, I definitely want to be able to order a replacement but not until I need it. I hate to be wasteful! Oh and if you could make the tube to where you can see how much product is left, that would be awesome too. I've thought I was running out long before I actually did! I'm disappointed I came to reorder and my color (medium) is on waitlist :( I will have to see if I can find it in a local store. But I am totally hooked on this product and will no doubt get others hooked on it as well. Thank you so much tarte and QVC for bringing us such wonderful products and having such an easy return policy (so glad I didn't need it though!). If you love your BareMinerals but don't love all the mess, give this a try. I think you'll love it as much as I do! And you can't beat the price! Love love love my new tarte foundation and brush :) « less

Wanted to love this...

I have tried MANY MANY foundations and was ecstatic to try this one! After reading all the positive reviews, I was pretty sure I would love it too, especially since I love Tarte's Recreate Foundation. My first thought when I tried this foundation was "I LOVE IT!", but after playing with it and trying it out long enough to review, that thought has now changed. My skin: No major redness. No acne. No scars. No skin discolorations. Dry with oilier T-Zone. Pros: * "Tan" shade matches me PERFECTLY! * Packaging is easy to use * A lot of product, almost double than most foundations * Medium-Full Coverage * Really covers redness * Shade tan was not too yellow, not too red. PERFECT! * No parabens, phthalates, mineral oil & it's cruelty free! *Long lasting (BUT with a major CON, read "cons" list). * Good Value. Cons: * Cakey formulation. Explanation: I know cakeyness is the result of the application and not the foundation itself, but this foundation will look blotchy/uneven if you don't apply enough of it. I tried using the recommended amount, LESS than the recommended amount, and more than the recommended amount (to give a fair review), and none worked out for me. * Lasts on face, BUT will literally separate from my face. THIS is the first time this has ever happened to me with a foundation. You could actually see the foundation separate from my face! I tried all sorts of primers and they helped a bit, but not enough. About the brush: It's a beautiful LARGE synthetic round brush-- super soft too! HOWEVER, I didn't like the brush with this particular foundation. This foundation is thick, so this brush wasn't dense enough for the job. Instead, I used a synthetic short bristle kabuki, which worked much better. « less

I need help finding the right foundation for my skin. I sweat more then a normal person should because I have some health problems that cause heat flashes and my skin gets oily. By the end of an 8 hour work day it looks like I didn’t even do my makeup. So if anyone has a good medium to full coverage foundation liquid or powder that can stay on my face, and maybe a setting spray let me know. I’ve tried The all nighter setting spray and it doesn’t work for me. Help! #oilyskin #sweatyface #breakouts #ineedhelp #help #advice

You can also try the tarte Amazonian clay full coverage foundation. I have that same problem as well that seems to me to be the only foundation that works for me.

#seekingadvice I have dry skin on my chin, upper lip, and nose. It is hard to find a foundation that doesn’t apply weird over those areas. It always comes out cakey. What is a good medium to full coverage foundation that is good for dry skin? And is there a technique that is better for applying foundation to dry skin? Wet beauty sponge? Foundation brush?

This one is super good for dry skin! Highly recommend. I’ve tried too faced before and it just cracked my skin. Hope this helps!
