my acne has always been a huge insecurity of mine, until recently I started forcing myself to see it as normal rather than a disease. I’ve tried many products but they never have really cleared me up. I’ve heard that raw African black soap is really good for acne (which I have quite a bit of) my skin used to be a lot worse years back but never to the point of cystic acne, as of right now it’s very controlled but I break out easily. Any advice on what brand has the best raw black soap or any good cleansers to clear up acne? I don’t have much acne but I do have the little tiny bumps that won’t go away and a few acne bumps here and there.

my skin has been oily for years, i would get a pimple here and there when i usually ate one chocolate, skin has always been on the bumpy side though, and i have alot of uneven skin tone. now to try to get rid of the oils and bumpiness my sister recommend using the body shop tea tree soap, then the body shot vitamin c scrub and them the tea tree face mask and to sleep in it. i tried it and got chemical burn, completely broke me out and make my skin more sensitive to everything, i used to be able to use estee lauder double wear and now even that breaks me out. ive tried all the vitamins everyone has recommended, i tried clinique, stirvectin, hydrolic acid, now im on cerave the light blue bottle face wash, i tone put the hydrolic serum and face moisturizer im so close to giving up, my face just looks horrible now i have alot of scarring, still bumpy and red. its embarrassing, any recommendations welcomed!!

@Sandra Rivera having a good skin care regimen is always important. Making sure you cleanse and moisturize every morning and cleansing and toning every night as well. I’m using DermAware products right now for my whole skin care regimen. Has the dermatologist ever recommended chemical peels?

my skin has been acting up and in the second picture i have a lot of red spots but they aren’t acne and i have no clue where they are from. on both sides of my face i have acne spots and some scars and i need some advice on what to use to help clear my skin up. my skin type is oily and sometimes it can be combination. i currently use Biore charcoal wash, Soap and Glory vitamin C facial wash, and clean and clear morning burst facial wash. i use the Biore and Clean and Clear one after the other and just slightly wash my face with the Clean and Clear because i like how it makes my face feel refreshed and the day after i use the Soap and Glory facial wash. I switch off nights from toning my face with Thayers witch hazel and alba pineapple enzyme facial wipes. Occasionally if i have a pimple i want to go away i will use a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment or mario badescu drying lotion. i hope this gives y’all an insight on what my skin care routine looks like and what i can do to help my skin be smooth and have even toning

I use this serum after toner and before oil free moisturizer - it helps fade dark marks and control oil production. A few other suggestions about the reaction which sounds like an allergy or irritation: 1. I would wash your whole pillow in case some sort of allergen got into it 2. Get some wipes for your phone and clean it at least once a day 3. Your skin could be reacting to something in one of the products that you are using so I would try a gentle cleanser or even just water and a wash cloth for a couple days until the reaction clears up, then reintroduce products one at a time 4. Even though you have oily skin, I would try an oil free moisturizer with spf - this will actually help your skin produce less oil and prevent dark marks from blemishes

@Sara Elizabeth Antoine I agree with everything said here. In addition, I would recommend adding Mario badescu Glycolic cleanser 2-3 times a week. Especially if you determine the break out isn’t related to allergies, stress, menstrual cycle, or any other changes. I have had good luck with this recommendation and I started using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zync 1% serum at the same time. In my experience it hasn’t necessarily “cleared” my acne, however it has helped a lot with redness and texture. Which can sometimes be half the battle!

Can anyone please recommend a good foundation that won’t make me extremely glory but not matte either. Just a natural finish look from lite to medium coverage ? I do suffer from acne so something that won’t affect it.

Does anyone know anything about skin care? I need suggestions for a routine to stick to. Nothing works for me (sadly including African black soap)and I’m beginning to run out of hope for my skin. I have combination, but more oily skin. I don’t get big breakouts (besides the occasional “under the skin” pimples) but I get EXTREMELY bad blackheads which turn into bad acne. I also pop them sometimes which I know is bad. I don’t have a big budget to keep buying things only for them not to work. I just need a routine of products I know will work. I’ll take any suggestions because I have never had a bad reaction to anything.

When I had bad breakouts, I started to use products from Kate Somerville to help clear my skin. It’s not drug store but it helped a lot. I’d check it out and read abt it first.

I highly recommend tatcha. For the full set, it’s a tad expensive (i stick to the deep cleanse and water cream because I’m on that furlough budget) but you can get good deals every so often with their sales.

Use a face wash with benzoyl peroxide it’s an active acne medication I use this Walmart brand one and it works good for me, it’s basically a dupe if the Clean & Clear one. It’s best to get a skincare routine going honestly has changed my skin I rarely get acne I use that face wash, then witch hazel for a toner, a vitamin c serum which brightens my skin and replenishes it and then a moisturizer and my skin feels so good after. Depending on your skin type there’s a routine for everyone and I’d say I got all those products together for under $20 and they last me months 😉

hey! no matter what i try, i cant get rid of all of my acne. it’s not too bad right now, however i still break out in little groups. ive tried like everything - drug store brands, name brands, proactiv, curology, everything. i am currently using african black soap as a face wash. it seems to be working okay but i want something that actually works really well!

I really recommend this product to you because I have also tried other products and nothing really seemed to work. But when I tried this product, my skin became brighter and the acne started to fade. Now that I have used this product for about 3 weeks now, my skin feels so much better. I only use it once a day because it has a high amount of benzoyl peroxide. It can dry out my face if I use it multiple times a day. It's also budget friendly, so it was even better. Hope you get to try it!!

I had extremely sensitive skin and can only use unscented bar soap to clean my face. my skin will break out in hives or a random rash if i use anything else. Does anyone know a good facial cleanser specifically made to not cause allergic reactions?

I would honestly suggest finding a fragrance free drugstore cleanser. It is important that it does not contain any fragrance. Bar soaps tend to be very drying because the ph has to be more extreme to be in bar form. This means that it strips your skin of its natural skin barrier making it even more sensitive. I’d recommend checking out Dr. Dray on youtube. She is a dermatologist who does shop with me for skincare videos.

I ran across this one time on sale and I’m pretty sure it’s affordable even at full price but Bath and Body Works has a line of body washes in their signature scents that contains Shea butter and coconut oil. I used the Hyaluronic acid version in Cactus Water scent and it’s my new favorite body wash!

So, long story time: About a year ago I was using the Cetaphil gentle face wash and heard good reviews about the Cetaphil bar soap and started using that instead. All of a sudden I got terrible acne and it has not stopped since. I had PERFECT skin before I tried that with only the occasional hormonal breakout (being a girl sucks , ladies). I do not know what skincare products are rhe best. I’ve been on antibiotics (worked great but interferes with my other medications), I’ve been on proactiv for 4 months and haven’t seen a difference at all, and I’ve tried changing my diet (took a food sensitivity test as well) and nothing is working. Has anyone tried this skincare routine?? If so, how is it?

I haven’t tried those products, but I got terrible acne when I moved to Florida last year after having pretty decent breakout free skin throughout my life. A doctor recommended Cetaphil, so I used it religiously for months and saw no change - if anything it got worse even after I moved back home to Ohio thinking it’d get better in the climate my body was used to. So I started looking for new products and I heard a lot of great reviews about Korean skincare brands. I picked up all my products at TJ Maxx for great prices, and since switching to them about a month ago I’ve noticed a HUGE difference. My skin is so much more clear and I haven’t had but maybe 2 bad pimples. I am currently using JJ Young Pore Cooling cleanser, Frudia Toner and Brightening serum, I Dew Care spot treatment, and Dewytree Miracle Clear Serum, as well as a moisturizer from I think a company in New Zealand. If you google Korean Skincare, you’ll find a ton of great products and I’m beginning to think they’re the holy grail lol. If you do purchase from TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, just be sure to double check the expiration date. After it was all said and done, I think I’ve purchased about 7-8 products for around $50 total.

Anyone who struggles with body acne please help!!! I have never struggled with acne in my life until now and my back and chest seem like nothing can clear them besides laying in a tanning bed 🙈 I’m desperate I want to clear my skin without resorting to a tanning bed to burn it off 😬 I’ve tried some paula’s choice products that didn’t really help and a soap called sal3 and nothing helps🙃

I used to have really bad acne on my shoulders and Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner was really the only thing that helped clear it. And after I got it under control I used this moisturizer and it lightened the acne scarring a ton. Also, I clip my hair up in the shower while I let my conditioner sit so it’s not hanging over my chest and shoulders and I’m convinced that’s why I don’t get body acne anymore.
