Can't say enough good things about this CC cream

Buying this CC cream (after a month of research) was one of the best beauty decisions I've ever made! I have oily, acne prone skin and have been wearing this CC cream as a foundation every day for 6 months with absolutely no breakouts. I have my acne under control (thank you DermaDoctor!) but I still like to wear foundation every day to address natural skintone unevenness and acne scars and to look more polished. I apply Smashbox primer (the light one for oily skin) before the CC cream and finish with urban decay de-slick setting spray. I apply the CC cream with a damp beauty blender and my face looks airbrushed and beautiful all day. This CC cream is buildable, and I've found it covers all but the darkest spots, for which I use concealer. Because the finish is dewy instead of matte, I still need to blot oil a few times a day but when combined with the setting spray this foundation DOES NOT COME OFF, even after an 8-hour workday and the gym. Even better, it feels like I'm not wearing any makeup at all. I would definitely recommend this for ladies with oily/acne prone skin who are looking for good coverage but trying to protect and improve their skin at the same time. Also I wear the dark (I'm an NW45 skintone) and it's the perfect shade. « less

Worth the money!

I bought the Fair color of the Smashbox CC cream and it blends perfectly! I have very sensitive skin. Many products will cause my face to breakout. I am also prone to buying what is cheap because, let's face it, I don't have countless dollars to spend on makeup. I am very fair skinned and have a lot of dark spots from previous breakouts. It typically takes months for my dark spots to fade on their own. Although this product is an initial investment, I have been using the same bottle for almost two months. I wear make-up every day and one bottle will last forever. You only need a little bit. It's lightweight and covers just as well as anything else I've ever used. It is very natural looking and doesn't clog pores. It has a primer in it, making it last all day. The dark spot correction in this is absolutely phenomenal. What normally takes months, is faded within a week of use. If you add up what you spend on foundation, primer, and dark spot corrector in a month I can guarantee it adds up to be more than the cost of this product. I don't see myself using anything else in the future. This has done wonders for my skin. Within the first week of use, I had so many compliments on how beautiful my skin looked (and that is not something I hear often). I would encourage all women to give this a try! « less

For ladies with combo/oily/acne prone skin

Im a professional makeup artist so I get to test out a lot of products. Since I have the above skin type I very rarely like any foundations. If you have drier skin it's unlikely this product will be something you like.. It may be somewhat dry and possibly cake on you. It's more pigmented than a BB cream, it's more like a liquid foundation actually. The colors I'm on the fence about. The light was too light and the light/medium is too pink. Mixed together I can make them work. The coverage is medium to full and you do need to work with it a bit to blend it but once you have it blended, it's really pretty and "skin" like. The most surprising part of this product isn't the fact it seems to actually work for oily-ish skin, but I can say my skin has cleared up!! It has licorice root and other anti-inflammatories in it which likely played a roll. But honestly, I fight with my skin so much I could care less what cleared it up! The only thing I've charged in my skincare routine is this cc cream. So in my eyes, this is why my skin cleared. It took about 8 days. I dot have severe acne, more like a solid irritation all over my skin. But today I'm bump free and loving it. Even if it's temporary I'm thrilled it's at least clear now! If you want it to really last on combo skin, use a setting spray like Makeup Forever Mist and Fix. « less

Drying, Smells, No Coverage, Heavy Finish

I chose the Smashbox CC cream over the BB cream because this range is better for yellow undertones which was one benefit. Other than that, I was very disappointed with this CC cream. Its incredibly drying on my normal-dry skin, yet is still very greasy and sticky to the touch. Application-wise, the product didn't seem to move around much from where I would place it when buffing it in with a kabuki brush and I would see it bunch up in places and streak unless heavily buffed. Overwhelming smell of sunscreen which I don't normally mind but its really quite gross. And I realize that this is a CC cream with light coverage but I found myself using almost double the amount of product that I would use for foundation (MUFE HD) with almost no coverage while being really heavy on the skin. Overall I'm really disappointed with this and was hoping I would like it as much as so many other reviewers have. Less

better than all BB creams!

So I think this stuff is great. I used to use the smashbox BB cream (which I came to from NARS tinted moisturizer). This stuff tops both of them IMO. I was initially hesitant because I thought this would be more oily and I have oily skin but the saleswoman at the store told me if that was my only concern that I should not worry about it. So I tried it and got the same exact shade I used in the BB cream (light) and I am 110% happy with it. It is not a heavy coverage foundation, which I hate, but it evens out my skin tone and reduces shine without drying and without that effect that some of the other "shine free" products have where if you have any dryness at all the product really highlights the flakiness and makes it really obvious. I use retin-a and sometimes have a little flakiness and when I used NARS tinted moisturizer and the BB cream both of them would really highlight any dryness and make it super obvious. This CC cream does a great job of hiding it. I wasn't a believer at first but it has also REALLY reduced some brown spots I had had on my face from the sun that you can get when you take birth control pills and forget to use sun screen. In other words, the "color correcting" aspect of this really works. I also had some darker spots from old acne scars and my skin looks fantastic now. I actually get a lot of complements on my skin. And because I am using the retin-a I have to use a high level sunscreen so this SPF 30 is necessary but it is not heavy or greasy at all. If you are at all on the fence about this I would totally go for it. This is a staple in my makeup bag. I used to switch my products all the time but I have stick to this one product ever since I started using it and I have no qualms about paying the money for it because it is totally worth it. FYI, I used "Finland" in the NARS tinted moisturizer (which is the lightest shade - Alaska was a little too dark for me) but I use "light" in this shade because the "very light" is a little too light for me. And if you already use the smashbox BB cream you can use the exact same shade in the CC cream. MAKE THE SWITCH! You will not be sorry.
