One of the best foundations Ive tried! It took me a while to review this because I wanted to test this for a couple of weeks before I give it a verdict. However, on first application, I had already fallen in love! The Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation is a liquid foundation with medium coverage, so it works well at concealing most dark spots and acne. Upon application, the product sinks right into my skin, very reflective of its collection name, Synchro Skin, as the product really does feel as if its synchronizing into one with your skin, instead of feeling like an extra layer sitting on top of your skin surface. I like to apply and blend with a brush or my fingers for better blending. I use this along with their concealer (also a part of the same collection), and it looks like I have no foundation on! Its a very light weight product but very good coverage. The finish is smooth and keeps my skin looking hydrated, but not greasy. This is the holy grail of all foundations. I got this in the shade 250 Sand, and the shade match is OK, but I think I couldve went lighter.Next, lets talk SPF. Sun protection is crucial to me I apply sunscreen daily to protect from my skin sun damage, which is a top factor in wrinkles and skin aging. I love how this foundation is infused with SPF 30, so I do not need to apply sunscreen as an extra step to my makeup routine in the morning. It definitely saves me time, and money to use a 2-in-1 product.Price: I understand $47 for a foundation is steep for some consumers, especially those who purchase drugstore cosmetics. However, I think the price is decent, especially for a prestigious brand like Shiseido. Ive spent more on a bottle of foundation before, and quality wasnt as great as this one.Packaging: Anybody else obsessed with packaging? I am a sucker for buying products with pretty packaging. Give me good packaging and Im more willing to purchase than if I see a product with cheap packaging. I love how Shiseido kept the packaging simple but still chic. It gives off a luxury look. I am also grateful for the turn-and-lock technique for the container, so it is pretty much leak-proof if you carry it in your bag. Also, I love the pump for easy access and application, but I wish the pump was bigger.Brand: Shiseido has been one of the longest standing cosmetics brands in the world. Last year, Shiseido relaunched their makeup line. The Japanese brand is well-known for their skin care products, so I knew their makeup line wouldnt be any short of perfection as well. This Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing foundation is part of their new Synchro Skin collection launch. Fun fact: The shade names are all inspired by Ki, which is the Japanese concept of life force energy found in both animate and inanimate objects. Each shade references a material commonly found in nature, architecture, or design throughout Japan.Overall, I cannot recommend a better foundation if youre in the $30+ budget range on a foundation. This foundation is AMAZING. I have tried so, so many foundations to find one that works well for my skin and there's always something major that I don't like about them that keeps me from buying them again. Not this time. It took me awhile to write a review because I wanted to test the product in different ways. I have sensitive skin. Redness, irritation, and most foundations tend to dry out my cheeks amd forehead or clog my pores and give me painful acne. I don't like the feeling of heavy foundation so I usually skip it or use a super light cream, but the creams never seem to cover the redness and random discoloration of my skin without layering product after product. I started with a light coat and slowly built up and let me tell you, it didn't take much but covered flawlessly!! When I first applied, I thought it was a bit too light but by the time I finished blending and did my eyes, it looked perfect. I never wear makeup to work (besides some simple mascara/liner) because I sweat so much while I'm there. I figured I'd test this foundation out to see how it held up. While it did fade a bit, I think that had a lot to do with the fact that I wiped the sweat off my face at least a hundred times during my work day. I did a full face of makeup on my day off and it still looked fantastic at the end of the day. I asked my husband for his opinion on it and he told me, "It looks like your skin, but healthier. Like when you use a filter." LOL! I will take that as a compliment and I will be purchasing this foundation again when I run out!! The only thing that I would say is a must with this foundation is primer. Especially if you have large pores like I do. This just helps it look more natural and last all day! Less

Not a bad foundation, but not great. First of all, I am a Mac nc35 and the color I got in sand was two shades too light for me. I did go by the chart and went by the model closest to my skin color. Aside from the color being too light, I wasn’t wowed by it. I am used to full coverage foundations. This was a buildable medium coverage but never seemed full coverage for me. It blended easily and was almost too hydrating at first. I had to powder my face heavily because it never seemed to “set” It also didn’t cover as well as I’d like. It also seemed to slip and slide everywhere. When I blew my nose, my tissue was covered in foundation. It’s definitely transferable which was the most annoying part. However, at the end of the day my skin didn’t look bad. It actually looked pretty good. The coverage wore off but I don’t have a whole lot to cover but I just like the full coverage look- think Becca ultimate coverage foundation. I didn’t look too oily or too dry. I think the best part of this foundation is it adapts to your skin. It controls oil and hydrates where needed. I don’t have severely dry or oily skin so I can’t say this was a selling point for me. I think there are better foundations on the market. I am grateful I got this in my voxbox to try for free because I haven’t used anything by Shiseido in years. Ultimately, I think the foundation is subpar to others on the market in this price range. Only great thing I did like is that it has spf which most foundations don’t have. Need a foundation that makes your coffee, answers the door, pays your bills, tucks the kids into sleep, and does the dishes for you? Pretty sure that if there were ever a foundation that could, it would be this one.One pump (applied with a brush) is enough to even out skin tone and textures (I have trouble with redness on my cheeks) while still looking perfectly natural. Two pumps (again with brush) is more full coverage (though if you're looking for Huda foundation level opacity, this may not be your speed). The finish is natural - not super matte, but not particularly reflective either. The most interesting thing to me is that for me (with oily skin), it will become a little more shiny over the period of a day but does not break up. You can apply powder mid-day (or late-day) without it getting creased or cakey.If you're looking for a matte finish or something that will last all day, set with powder after applying and let sit for 5 minutes before brushing excess powder off. I rarely have foundations that look flawless after six hours - this, I can apply at 7 in the morning, powder, and then take off at 1 or 2am and still have it looking nice. The initial super-matte finish will become a little more natural as the natural oils come through but I never end up looking shiny or greasy (which happens with other foundations, even matte finish or oil free ones for me).So if you're looking for something that has a natural finish, that you can build up coverage on, or powder to mattify/set and leave for a whole day/shift: This is a good foundation to consider.If you are looking for a one layer full coverage situation, this is probably not what you are looking for.But that all said: this foundation is forgiving, deals with my combination skin well (oil patches, and textured/dry locations elsewhere, it does not emphasize them), you can do mid-day touch ups (powder, blot oil away, reblend, apply more foundation) and it doesn't look terrible.I'm a huge fan. Less
