Waterproof and good with contacts

Love this eyeliner, it's creamy and gives a smooth application. Some "smudgable" eyeliners have to be smudged when applied or it looks messy. Not this one, it will give a precise line and smudges great if you want it. I have really watery eyes, an unfortunate side effect of wearing contacts for many years, and I really need a waterproof eyeliner that can last through a full days work. Even with my eyes watering it doesn't run and for the price it really delivers! 5 stars for me!

Sephora VS. Bare Escentuals VS. Make Up For Ever

I have been trying so hard to find a waterproof eyeliner that would stay on my waterline, which is almost an impossibility! I finally took Sephora up on their free return offer and did a trial of three eyeliners: Bare Escentuals Buxom Insider Eyeliner, MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes, and Sephora's Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner to see which one was the best. I first tried the B.E. liner because I love B.E.'s product. It went on smooth and silky and I could not feel it on my waterline at all, but literally only 20 minutes later, 90% of it was off of my waterline and in the outside corners of my eyes...no good. The next day I tried the Aqua Eyes, as their main selling point is that their products are waterproof, so I was hoping for a lot more longevity. When I put it on it was very dry and a bit uncomfortable on my waterline, and when I checked this one at 20 minutes it was a little better because there was no liner in the corners of my eyes, but about half of the product had just disappeared. I didn't have much hope by the third day when I tried Sephora's waterproof liner, but wow was I surprised! The liner went on smoothly and I could not feel the product on my waterline. I lined both my top and bottom waterline, and then gave it the 20 minute check. Even though it didn't feel as though I was wearing product on the waterline, the line was as dark and intact as when I applied it! Thus I decided to test it. First I went outside in the wind and sunshine and did about 15 minutes worth of errands. When I came back I found that about 90% of the liner was still there, had not budged, and there was no liner in the corner of my eyes. Then came the final test--a 1 1/2 hour supermarket trip, complete with lifting and hauling. Once everything was unpacked at home I checked the mirror. There still was about 85% of the product left (the only place I lost liner was towards the outside corner of the upper lid), without smudging. All of this with no touch-ups! Of course, if you are wearing this all day or day and night you will want to bring it with you for rare and minor touch-ups, but don't touch-up too often or you will have too much product on your waterline which leads to smudging. Obviously, of all of the brands that I tried, Sephora's is clearly the best. It is also the least expensive of the three, and that does not hurt either! If you are looking for a long lasting and comfortable liner to wear on your waterline I highly recommend that you try this one ladies! « less

Doesn't hold up for me

Got this for my waterline, and because I wanted the smudger. It was hard for me to believe an eyeliner that's supposed to be waterproof and "budge resistant" could have a smudger, and for the most part, I was right.Unfortunately, this eyeliner does not stay on my eyes well at all. It was completely gone within a few minutes of applying to my waterline. So I thought I'd just try it for my top lashes. I have fairly oily eyelids, and so far only liquid eyeliners will stay put on my eyes. But sometimes I'm too lazy to fuss with liquid, so I was really hoping this one would work. Still didn't work.It does apply very smoothly. I still like the smudger and the sharpener. But the color looks faded by the end of the day. I rarely touch my eyes when I wear makeup. On the off chance I do, I don't press or rub hard, sometimes it's just a touch, and my fingers always come away with a bit of black. I've tried applying as minimal amount as possible, and I've tried smudging it out, and it still fades. I always wing out my liner, and the wings are usually gone by the end of the day. This happens even with primer, and even after setting with eyeshadow. Wings are gone, color is faded, any liner at the inside corners of my eyes are gone, and product easily comes off.I've actually tested on my eyes and on my hand, and it washes off very easily with plain water and very gentle rubbing. I don't know how waterproof tests are run, but I've always needed a waterproof eye makeup remover (or something oil based) to remove other waterproof eyeliners I've tried.I'm keeping it because it wasn't too expensive, and I still like the smudger. But for me, it didn't hold up to its claims. « less

Excellent...

I've used Sephora products for a long, long time. They've always been an excellent buy because they are great quality at half or less the price of other brands that have the same good quality makeup. These eyeliners are comparable to liners which cost two and almost three times as much—they work great. I’ve used a lot of different liners (especially Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliners), but after trying these eyeliners I’ve been buying them up because they are just as good or better than the other higher priced brands and because of the vast color choices—there are 23 different colors! And of those different colors there is a mix of different textures from shimmery to matte to glittery. Every color I’ve bought has been awesome. These eyeliners are very soft and glide on with no tugging or pulling at my eye. They are easy to smudge especially with the convenient built-in smudger on the end of the pencil, but once they are “dry” they are set to stay for the day. These are definitely waterproof and long-lasting liners because I have severe allergies and use eye drops several times a day along with having to wipe at my eyes when they itch and this eyeliner stays put—it doesn’t budge or smudge or go away. The color (of every one I’ve tried) is bold and vivid. The “Classic Black” color is a very deep, dark, true black that looks great when smudged to create a smoky eye effect. The “Glitter Black” which is a matte black with silver glitter looks very pretty when creating a smoky eye as well. I also love the fact that they have a built-in sharpening system—I can say goodbye to my messy pencil sharpener. I highly recommend these liners for their remarkable quality and to not waste money buying the extravagant designer eyeliners when these pencils are just as leading quality and will save a lot of money. « less

Great product

I purchased 3 of these eye pens in glitter purple, glitter green, and glitter copper. First about the product is that it delivers on its claim to be durable. I apply my eye moisturizer, then a standard translucent powder over the entire eye area as a base for any eye makeup; then this liner. No smudging during a normal day's work (maybe a bit from the darker colors after 12 hours of wear, but I would think you would need to touch things up after that many hours anyway if you're going out after work). I haven't had the chance to test it in the ocean yet (will be able to this coming summer), but I'm not worried :) also easy to apply, does not tug at the skin and comes off with no problem if you use a decent quality waterproof eye makeup remover. About the colors - all beautiful, I was surprised at one reviewers experience that they were not. Do not be worried about the glitter - it is subtle and classy, not at all overbearing. I did notice that a little glitter ends up on my cheekbones at the end of the day, which may bother some people but it doesn't bother me at all because I think it's pretty and actually draws a little attention to the top of your face (remember that I mentioned that the glitter is small and subtle). If you don't like glitter there are plenty of other gorgeous colors available, including completely matte ones. My surprising favorite color is the glitter copper. I bought it last autumn to go with the warm toned clothing of that season. I have continued to use it with many other colors. Applied thickly to the top lash line, it really brightens the eye and provides a nice bright contrast for mascara. Overall, very very pleased. Great work Sephora :) « less

Can anyone recommend a good eyeliner (preferably from the drug store) that is easy to use?

This is not drugstore but still affordable. The Sephora one has been amazing. I’ve been through 2 in the last 2 months. Definitely recommend it!!
