I’ve had issues with loose powders making my skin look dried out, and I’ve also had issues with flashback. I’m pretty sure the issue is with my powder (even though I try to avoid talc) so does anyone have a fav loose powder or one that they swear by?
primer help!! high end and low end
my skin is very sensitive this time of year and i haven't been able to use primer because i can't find one that works with the sensitivity, redness, pore size, and the ability to hide oiliness without drying me out. any recommendations please??
What are y’all’s recommendations for brow gel? I currently use the clear brow gel by elf, but there’s not a lot of product and I feel wasteful not using the clear mascara at the other end. I want something that’s going to hold my brow hairs in place (I like natural, bushy brows) but I don’t need a lot of extra product because my brows are already pretty full and dark (hence why I was using a clear gel). I would prefer other recommendations besides Glossier Boy Brow because I don’t want to place an order with them for just one product. So preferably something I could pick up at Ulta, Sephora, or the drugstore. Thanks!! #brows #browgel
I need a new mascara. I have the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes one and I do like the formula. However I find that by the end of the day my lashes do not look curled anymore. Any recommendations for mascaras similar to this that will hold a curl longer?
What I’ve learned working for a Derm...
So Im an RMA/CMA working for a dermatologic/plastic surgeon. I’ve learned a lot these past few months and then came across this platform. I get a lot of patients who come in having reactions to all kinds products people are told are good for your skin by word of mouth. People get mad when we tell them to throw all they know out the window. Truth be told the more bland the better. Theres not magic cream out there, but everyone is different so some things may or may not work for you. What i do want to point out is that a lot of products do more harm then good. For example, things like witch hazel i love but have stopped using because its sooooooo drying and can irritate the skin and not actually “tone” it. Another thing is SPF. Big makeup companies will sell you the most expensive one they have, but if it doesn’t contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide it don’t work! So throw that olay away. I can go on and on about what we recommend you do and don’t do, and always feel free to ask but to close this out...Basically you need brands like cetaphil or cerave. We find that MOST, not all, people aren’t sensitive to these brands. Really the key to good skin is wash, KEEP MOISTURIZED, and SPF**** however i will say, i like aloe vera and what it has done for my skin and i don’t find it does any harm unless you develop or have an allergy.... and yes, you can develop an allergy to things you have used all your life just fyi. But in the end its good to have a nice solid routine. Play around with affordable brands and see what your skin likes. And if you’ve got acne you cant get under control i HIGHLY recommend seeing a derm so they can help you find a routine to use in combo with any Rx. please take your time finding a good derm, not just a spa that wants to sell you a facial and their products. :)
So this is more of a public announcement for anyone who suffers from acne and none of the products that are marketed towards us “problematic skin people” seem to work for you! I’m 25 and I’ve suffered from acne since high school. I tried proactive, bioclear, Mario badescue, curology, over the counter, my grandmas home remedies... y’all know you get desperate to find something that works. And although some products like curology assisted me in some areas, it never really worked completely. Which is all added frustration and stress leading to more acne! About 8 months ago I started going to this esthetician, I really wanted microneedling because my OCD gets the best of me and I do pick at my face... which is bad I know, I get it... I’ve heard it, read it, understand the science behind it but I still sometimes have no self control. I started doing microneedling and saw a HUGE improvement to my skins texture. She also helped me find products that would work for me. After years of searching for the perfect routine I think I might have stumbled across what works for me and I’m hoping by sharing, this might work for others!
Face wash: I found the trick is to switch up products. I use 4-5 different face washes so my skin doesn’t... I guess grow immune to just one. I use CeraVe sensitive skin, philosophy everyday micro scrub, Tula cleanser, acne free cleanser, and baking soda. I also use those rubber facial scrubs and I can’t dry my face with a towel (harbors too much bacteria). I either have to use paper towels or a small face towel only once a day. I don’t use all cleansers at once that would probably burn my skin off hahaha but on days I don’t have issues I’ll use Tula or CeraVe and sometimes I’ll mix a little baking soda in them. The acne free I’ll use when I see some pimples (usually around my menstrual cycle or stressful weeks). And then the ordinary whenever I want some tiny bead action 2-3 times a week. Of course you gatta follow with a spray/ toner. I use 3 different ones also interchanging to fit my skin. I use Mario badescue green tea spray, witch hazel, and a toner my esthetician gave me. I wash my face twice a day morning and when I come home from work and take my makeup off.
Mornings: I follow my toner with mad hippie antioxidant oil and my eltaMD acne prone skin spf.
Nights: I also use mad hippie antioxidant and also switch it up between a few things like the ordinary niacinamide (also sometimes use in the am), and Acure brilliantly brightening night cream.
Spot treatment: Zincofax, it sounds weird but baby diaper rash cream with zinc is amazing... it helps with inflammation and discoloration. So yeah I’ve been putting butt cream on my face.
Masks: China white clay, Aztec clay, and baking soda masks!
And of course maybe make an appointment with an esthetician who can do microneedling and high frequency facials and pick at your face in a professional matter hahaha and then give you an oxygen treatment which helps kill bacteria and helps your skin heal faster!
I’ve also been taking magnesium powder lemon and raspberry flavored, to purge toxins from the inside out. The first 3 months were worse... my skin purged and I also found out magnesium will make you poop but I had a tablespoon every morning for months and it not only helps with purging your skin but it also helps with anxiety.
If you’re still reading, I know this was a lot to read but I hope something in this long message helps you out! Best of luck 💜
I just want to recommend this moisturizer to everyone! It’s definitely on the pricier side but it’s always good to invest in good skincare, I got a sample size from Sephora for my birthday with their jelly cleanser. It’s truly one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used, it changed my skin in the matter of a week from mostly dry to super hydrated and soft! #drunkelephant #moisturizer
Looking for a lipstick with a metallic finish that stays on but doesn’t dry my lips out. I loved one by Buxom but the color is discontinued 😭
New Laura Mercier Lumiere foundation
I have been really intrigued by this foundation and wanting to try it. Is this good for dry skin? I recently saw an ad they had and they marketed it for oily skin. Is it dewy? That is what I'm looking for.
And if not this one please give me some suggestions! Needing a new one 😊
Urban Decay put their holiday gift set on sale! It’s 2 full size eye shadow primer potions for only $19!! One is usually $23!
Can anyone recommend a good single blending brush that’s good for small hooded eyes, and preferably one that Ulta carries? I have this Morphe one and I really like the size of it and it blended really well at first but I swear all my white haired Morphe brushes get so rough and scratchy after the first wash.
As someone who is brow obsessed I’m always on the hunt for products that will keep the hair in place after I filled them. So I got creative and I use the clear mascara by maybelline. Holds ALL day no flake, the brush is the perfect size for brows and it’s $7! Can’t go wrong. Def use this every day. #eyebrow #makeuphack #howto
at first i was a little intimidated by this product because i've only used stick eyebrow pencils but it was a nice transition and now it's one of my all-time faves!
This Philosophy One-step Facial Cleanser is my daily cleanser. It is perfect for all skin types (approved by my bestie with VERY dry skin), and it is perfect!! it removes oil, dirt, and makeup flawlessly! I have been using this cleanser twice a day for the last three weeks and my skin has never been clearer.
Senior Prom Makeup💗 This is probably one of my favorite looks so far, and I’m loving how it showed up in pictures! I used the products that I tagged to create a sultry neutral look with a deep brown smokey eye, brown/nude lip with Dolce K matte lip kit by Kylie Cosmetics, bronzing with a darker shade of the L’Oréal powder, and a shimmering glow from the Naked Illuminating Shimmering Powder on top of the Mally Cosmetics highlight.
