The Perfect Pout

As my first and only Satin Lip Pencil from NARS, I have to say that I am glad this was the colour chosen. The Luxembourg shade is a beautifully vibrant red with a blue undertone. The texture is smooth and semi-creamy, and when first applied, it has a shine to its finish. However, it does dry to a comfortable matte which is very pigmented and lasts a good portion of the day. I find the formula to be rather lightweight and non-drying but still holds the punch of the colour. It is so easy to apply with very little pressure needed that the product does not need sharpening often. I wear this shade near to every day and have loved it since purchasing it.An interesting part about this pencil is the colour change it has depending on how much product is applied. If I apply one light coat, the pigment is very rich but it tends to appear a bit more of a berry red than a true red. After a generous amount is applied (I blot in between my initial and second application with a tissue) the colour really takes its true form of being a very beautiful candy sort of red. I like wearing it both lightly or more generously applied. All in all, it is a quality product and a stellar shade. « less user

LOVE • Love • looooove NARS created My New Favorite Lipstick...

This Richly pigmented creamy & long lasting lip pencil feels like a sheer veil on your lips, but packs a heavy punch of color. NARS hit it out of the field with their Satin Lip Lencils I love NARS & am obsessed. So i did what any smart woman would and bought it in every shade that looks good on me! They remind me a little of the MAC Patent Polish Lip Sticks {which I'm also madly in love with} but a tiny bit more towards on the matte side. user

My new favorite lip product.

I've been wanting to try these pencils forever but I could never find the shade I wanted in stock (Dragon Girl). I finally managed to order it and it's even better than I tought it would be. First of all it's very light - it has lighter consistency than some of sheer lipsticks I tried or even lipbalms. It's not drying at all. Having that in mind the perfect matte effect it gives is rather mind blowing. The absolutely brilliant thing about these is the pigmentation - it gives perfect colour while still feeling very light on the lips. Can work also as a stain, it's very buildable. The only thing I'm not super impressed by is staying power but it's not bad enough to take a star. If you love matte lip look but you're afraid of dry lips this is a product to try! I hope to snap Dolce Vita and Train Bleu soon. « less

Not A Fan

I am not impressed by these lip pencils. I like the satin finish it gives my lips, but I feel like they are not as pigmented as I thought they would be. Each time I use these, I always have to build these colors up because they are so sheer. They are not as pigmented as the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, which I absolutely love. Plus, they are not as long wearing as those either. I will not be repurchasing these.

How I have never tried these before?! I have somewhat full lips and am extremely picky when it comes to lip products, especially when it comes to such pigmented formulas, but these Nars Satin Pencils are winners in my book. They last for hours, have a creamy-matte finish, are neither hydrating nor drying, and leave behind a gorgeous stain. I tried Rikugien (a MLBB, everyday pink - fairly sheer and not as long lasting as the others), Hyde Park (an everyday neutral red with berry undertones), Majella (a fabulous true garnet red), and Palais Royal (a deep, dark, rather intense berry red). I can take or leave Rikugien and Palais Royal, both of which are perfectly nice shades but nothing particularly special, but I LOVE Hyde Park and Majella - I have never come across such flattering, easy to wear reds (for reference, I'm somewhere between Mac NC35-NC40 with dark hair). Can't wait to try more! « less
