Does not stay on face, even after setting

I really wanted to love this, but it was such a waste of money. I got help to match my shade and skin tone, and this was the first high-end foundation to really match my light-medium, yellow skin tone. The girl at the store recommended this because I have combination skin (oily T-zone, dry cheeks and jaw) and this is matte (she swore it might be too drying for my combination skin). It was not drying and, though I did find it to be a soft matte when she tried it on me, that was okay because I always set my foundation with powder and spray and I've never had a problem with other soft matte foundations--setting takes care of it. Well, the next day, about 30 minutes after I put this on, it was still transferring like crazy, especially on my shirt. Setting this with powder DID NOT work. The foundation simply clung to the powder on my brush, instead of the powder clinging to the foundation, which left me with a blotchy application. I tried with both a water and silicone based primers, I tried with an oil free moisturizer, I even tried it without a primer our of desperation, but regardless of how I applied it, or what I applied it with, this foundation did not stay on my face. Within half an hour of applying with or without powder on top, the foundation was blotchy and/or separated...and this was just inside my house. I went outside with it and it just melted off my face in the CA weather within 10 minutes of walking in the sun. I finally gave up and I'm stuck with half the tube of worthless make up. I ended up going to the drugstore and buying a foundation that matched and that stayed on my face without a need to set for a sixth of the price. If you have oily or combination-oily skin, you might want to look elsewhere. It might be okay for skin that is on the drier side. I really liked the color and that it's oil-free , as well as the buildable coverage, but if it doesn't stay on your face, there really isn't anything to like. Less

Great natural looking foundation!

I will start off by saying I purchased this foundation in store with my own money. I purchased this foundation in the shade Golden Light, which at first I was afraid would be too peachy, but it brightened my skin and made it look incredibly healthy. I applied it with a beauty blender, since with a brush it didn't seem to blend out very well. At first I thought the sponge was just absorbing the product because I couldn't see where the foundation was. But it was really because the foundation is so incredibly skin-like! It definitely wasn't matte on me, it appeared dewy for some time, so I did set it with my Nars crystal powder. For blurring the pores, I didn't notice a huge difference but it definitely did not emphasize them either. It also never settled in any fine lines or wrinkles. The foundation wore very well through-out the day, and even though it got a tiny bit shiny as the day went on, I never had to touch it up and it never broke apart on my face. That's huge for me, since almost every foundation cakes up around my nose, mouth and chin. It looked incredible all day! I would say the coverage is a high medium off the bat but very buildable, smells wonderful, and wore very nicely. Also a plus, it photographs like a dream! In person, I was complimented by numerous people for having nice skin, not nice makeup. Less is more with this foundation, I could see people being thrown off by the formula and end up using too much. But I really do feel like it's worth $40! Love it! « less

I'm in love with this foundation

Man.. Milk has finally done it, I've finally found my foundation match. I've spent soo long on multiple occasions with Sephora and Ulta employees trying to find a foundation to match my skin tone (medium-light with very pink undertones) and had always been forced to mix 2-3 products together to get the colour I wanted, as it seems every pinky foundation is made for vampire people. BUT! This one is perfect. I'd say the colour is medium-light with pink undertones, as it seems a bit darker than the majority of other brands' "light" foundations, but I'm not complaining at all.The finish is a bit sticky looking when you first apply it, but once you give it a minute to dry down it's a really pretty matte foundation, with a lot more coverage than I was expecting. Applying it with your fingers then blending it out with a beauty blender afterwards will ensure it applies evenly, applying it with a BB right off the bat seems to make it stick to my dry areas and messes with the coverage. I sometimes like a bit dewier of a finish, and putting on some glowy moisturizer (I like the GLAMGLOW Glowstarter for this) before application will give it a more dewy look without taking away from the pigment all that much.It lasts all day even with my face being an oil slick, however DO make sure to set your smile lines and T zone with translucent powder to avoid any mishaps. I've only had one bad foundation day when using this, when I was sweating a lot doing work outside but setting my oily zones a bit in the morning (when I know I'll be sweatin a lot) seems to have totally eliminated the issue. One last thing - Give this product a VERY GOOD SHAKE when you first receive it, and a good shake before using it each day, as it's got a tendency to settle. Less

my new favorite, seriously

THIS IS THE FOUNDATION- for real, it checks all the boxes. I used the shade golden light and it was PERFECT for me this time of year. It applied SO NICELY, it certainly lives up to the full coverage claim but without looking that way. It didn't appear or feel heavy or cakey at all (I used the Dab Blend applicator and OMG these two were made for each other! Literally and figuratively) I have a few blemishes right now that are super dry and on their way out but this didn't cling to the dry areas - no, no. It just laid nicely over those zits and covered them right up - just what I needed! Totally blurred them out (get it? #thatblurtho) I wouldn't say this is super duper extra matte, but it's not dewy at all either. It's probably on the matte side of a satin matte type finish. I have normal to dry skin so I didn't test this for the mattifying components, but by the way it didn't break down on any area of my face for hours, I think it's safe to say more oily skin would still totally love this! I wore it through an entire day of work and my makeup look incredible all the way through to the end of the night. I was especiallyyyyyy impressed by how my blush, bronzer and highlight stayed in place and didn't fade at all (I feel like that's a true testament to the product it's laying on top of). The only thing I noticed was that it rubbed off quite a bit underneath and around my nose (but all of my foundations do that) and it didn't look suuuuuper awesome around my pores (not awful but it certainly didn't make them look good, let's just say that). But for what it did do for me (perfect shade match, excellent coverage and crazy longevity) I can totally look past all of those things. This product is incredible and totally worth giving a try! Please note, I was sent this complimentary product for testing purposes but this review is in no way biased by that, my opinions and thoughts are all honest and my own. Less

My Holy Grail

I've never called a product a "Holy Grail" product before this one, but it is such a perfect color match for my pinky pale skin that I can't see myself ever using another foundation. I see the complaints about this product on the reviews so allow me to address some of them. I've been using this foundation since it came out so I've had some time to play with it and see these problems people talk about. First, the watery liquid. The product does settle and sometimes you do get this liquid coming out. It says to squeeze the tube and mix the contents right on the package. It's a water based foundation, so that can happen. Second, oxidizing. Most foundations do have some oxidizing that happens, and since this packaging is designed to only let product out and not let air pack in, it makes sense that this might oxidize once it goes on your skin. However, I have never had that problem and my foundation has stayed true to color inside and outside it's tube, and I definitely have never seen it turn orangey as some people describe. Third and lastly, it's matte and blur effect especially over textured skin. I see many people complain that it is not very matte and that it is terrible on textured skin. I'm an oily girl with hormonal acne on my chin area, and the first time I used this foundation, my jaw dropped. My pores literally disappeared, and though I didn't stay perfectly matte through 8 hours of wear, I was matte much longer than any other foundation I've tried (I press "velvitizer" over top with a puff). Using a brush will definitely accentuate dry flaky skin, but I've always ended up with an even look by moisturizing well before putting on my makeup and using a damp beauty blender to dab it on. As always, what works for me might now work for you, but in my experience, Milk has made the very best foundation for me. Hope this info helps. « less

I am looking for a hydrating foundation for dry skin that gives me a dewy/glowing or illuminating finish. My skin is fair (usually 2nd from lightest shade). What would be the best? Or do you have any other suggestions? Also would like to find a setting powder that’s hydrating and/or illuminating. I tried too faced born this way translucent powder, but it seems to be matte and drying. Any suggestions?

My go-to hydrating setting powder is the @Hydra-Mist & Set Refresh Powder , and my favorite dewy foundation for my super dry skin is the @Blur Liquid Matte Foundation . Don’t be fooled by the “Matte” in its name. I will tell you, though, most of my glowy magic I’ve achieved through a glowy moisturizer like the @Oxygen Ex Glow Sion Rich Moisture Cream Jar and a glowy primer like the @No Filter Blurring Photography Primer before I’ve even put any makeup on my face+a glowy setting spray to bring the skin back to life after I’ve put everything on. The @Make It Dewy Setting Spray has been a favorite lately.

Struggling over here! I’ve used Tarte Amazonian Clay for quite some time. I love it during the summer but winter not so much.My skin is definitely combo. I get oily in my tzone and top of my nose but am dry around my nose and chin. I have super sensitive/acne prone skin. I just picked up Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation + concealer and I’m not impressed as it is super patchy! What foundation should i go to?!

As someone who used to use that foundation every single day, I would recommend this one. It’s on the more expensive side, but when I say it does wonders for acne prone skin during winter, I mean it. Also you don’t have to completely go full coverage if you don’t want to, it’s great for spot concealing. :)
