I have dry sensitive skin and I am looking for a good foundation and loose setting powder combination. Right now I use MAC studio fix and laura mercier and it makes me so flakey, separating the foundation on my skin... any other recommendations are welcome! please help🙏🏼

This and Clinique Even Better Foundation are two of my personal favorites, the Too Faced has more coverage but they both have pretty finishes and work really well with my dry skin. And I recently got e.l.f.’s new Halo Glow Setting Powder and I’m liking it so far, it’s really smooth and blurring and doesn’t look cakey or dry at all.

Any good recs for a concealer that won’t dry my under eyes? I use two different eye creams and still, I get creasing even after setting with a powder. I’m currently using Laura Mercier Luminous Candleglow concealer and the Born This Way concealer but everything creases and looks so dry every time.

I use the too faced born this way a lot (on both my self and clients) I find that for really dry under eyes the Algenist complete eye renewal balm always makes a huge difference both long term and instantly. But the touché eclat high coverage radiant concealer is great for dry under eyes as well. I hope this is helpful :)

So my foundation does something weird on me and I’ve tried several different types. About halfway through the day my nose starts to crack and peel, but just my nose. The rest of my foundation is fine. I’ve been exfoliating more on my nose in recent weeks to try to see if it’s just dry skin. any suggestions as to why it might do this or what I could do to stop it? So the Lock-it foundation I use for formal events, Or times where I know I’m going to need a full coverage to stay on for a really long time. And the naked skin, and the shape tape foundation’s are my every day. And I use shape tape concealer, Smashbox oil primer, and Laura Mercier for my powder.

Sometimes it helps to put a little foundation on your nose but mostly a good primer will do the most help. If you don’t use primer I suggest looking into one that’s right for your skin type and that would probably help a ton. If you are using one and it is still cracking I would maybe look into a more hydrating primer, I use the Hangover Replenishing Face Primer and it works really well for my dry skin and prevents my foundation from flaking and cracking anywhere on my face.

This one is a great full coverage foundation. It is definitely matte though so it is not great for dry skin. For dry skin I recommend Maybelline fit me dewy or matte foundation. I have also heard great things about L’Oréal infallible and wet ‘n wild Photo Finish!

Recently bought FENTY and was wondering if anyone had any tips on application? My go-to, full coverage foundation was @Silk Crème Oil Free Foundation by Laura Mercier and would blend and buff into my skin so nicely and FENTY is not like that at all. It dries on super fast, feels Cakey, and a struggle to blend out. If there’s any product someone can share with me to use maybe prior or during application that would be helpful, thanks!

I love this foundation. What I typically do is use a damp beauty blender and start with a small amount and blend that it and then just add more foundation as you go

Ok, I’m looking for a new good foundation! I’ve tried so many and I currently switch between Frankie Rose or Laura Mercier. I wanted something matte and that’s going to minimize the appearance of my big pores! I have combination skin, so I’m oily and dry and some places. But for the most part oily. Want something natural but covers a lot at the same time. Nothing cakey or creasing though and I have issues with it separating as well. My skin is super sensitive and I’m about to go crazy! Haha help!!

I've been using Tarte shape tape and Coty airspun powder for years (no foundation) . I've recently noticed that even with primers, baking and setting spray I get splotchiness and creasing. I also sweat off my makeup very easily! Could it be the powder? I've been curious about switching to Laura Mercier but the price on airspun is fantastic. Any advice?

I recommend a really good primer- the milk hydro grip is really good at making your foundation last. Then use the Laura Mercier powder, this should help good luck!

Hi lovelies, I’m looking for a new setting powder I have very sensitive skin that is dry except for my chin and nose which get really oily. I’m just looking for something that sets me all day without creasing but isn’t to dry! I’m debating between the Laura Mercier Powder, the Fenty Lavender Powder, or the Hourglass Veil Powder but any recommendations are appreciated 😊 #settingpowder #recommendations #combinationskin #Fenty #LauraMercier #Hourglass

I recommend the elf dewy setting mist spray! And for dry areas you really don’t want to “set”or “bake” because it will only dry you out more. But for oily areas I would set :) most of my face is dry and the only oily spot is my nose. I use to set in dry areas but it made my face caked and dry :/ I only swipe a little of powder to touch it up and keep it in place ;) hope this helps :) also the elf smells just like coconut 🥥

Setting spray is your best friend. I use the urban decay one and you can freshen up throughout the day to keep looking amazing. Just go to the bathroom and spray spray spray. You can even bring your brushes or beauty blender (I prefer beauty blenders because they press the product into your skin better) with you to touch up.

Comparison between Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and It Cosmetics CC Cream?
Profile picture of Pailin S

OilyOily Skin
Laura Mercier is your true tinted moisturizer that evens you out with a sheer coverage gives you a your skin but better look. IT cosmetics however is more similar to a foundation with a medium cover this would provide more coverage but has a more foundation look (not cackey or anything bad) Both of them have multiple formulas that would suit different skin type it would be up to the look and the coverage you are wanting.

@Emileily I vote for Bare too. Laura Mercier oxidizes so bad and doesn’t last!

What’s a good pointed eyebrow brush? The angled brushes don’t seem to work for me. The Sephora Pro Pointed Brow 35 would be perfect but it doesn’t seem to be available anywhere. I saw the Laura Mercier Sketch and Intensify Double-Ended Brow Brush but I can’t afford to spend $36 on it right now. Anyone know a dupe for those or just a good brow brush with a pointed end?

New Laura Mercier Lumiere foundation I have been really intrigued by this foundation and wanting to try it. Is this good for dry skin? I recently saw an ad they had and they marketed it for oily skin. Is it dewy? That is what I'm looking for. And if not this one please give me some suggestions! Needing a new one 😊

OilyOily Skin
Ok my fellow oily skinned ladies! I have found an amazing regimen for oily skin that has kept my face matte and my foundation in place! Exfoliate with any exfoliating face wash Toner - any The Ordinary niacinamide and zinc - reduces oil production and shrinks large pores (over time) and reduces inflammation for sensitive or acne prone skin Neutrogena oil control primer serum - absorbs oil and nourishes face and primes for makeup Moisturizer - any Porefessional primer to problem areas - fills pores until the ordinary has time to reduce them (I’ve heard great reviews that it actually works over time) Covergirl trueblend mattifying primer Estée Lauder double wear - does not move or transfer or separate or crease at all Concealer - any Laura Mercier setting powder - sets and keeps skin matte Setting spray - any (I put both serums and mattifying primer around my eyes as well as I have problems with creasing) I know it’s a lot, but I have done so much for my oily skin and nothing has ever worked. 3 hours after applying my makeup it looks awful - separates, creases, cakes, wears off. This regimen keeps my makeup on for at least 12 hours and I did not blot or touch up at all. The serums absorb into the skin so well so they do not feel like extra layers. I am able to touch my face and my makeup does not transfer and my makeup still looks natural and not heavy. Try it!
