MY HG FOUNDATION!!!

For the past year and half I have been on the hunt for a foundation that meets all of my needs - great color match (that doesn't oxidize), long-wearing, weightless and keeps my combo/oily skin under control (without looking matte/flat). It's a lot to ask of ONE product so I was beginning to give up...until I tried MAC's PLW foundation! O-M-G! I apply the foundation around 6:30am and don't get home until 7pm, and my face still looks great! No powder touch-ups, MAYBE blotting with a blotting sheet mid-day, but other than that, the minimal amt of oil that comes through makes it look super natural (I wouldn't even call it dewey). I'll only touch up with powder if I'm going out after work and want to look extra polished. This baby has met and exceeded all of my expections! A definite must-try! (BTW - I don't have sensitive skin so I can't speak to whether it would be good for those who do break out from certain ingredients). In terms of my shade and application method: I'm currently darker than normal, so I'm wearing NC44 but think I'll have to get NC42 and mix it come winter. Or I might try to mix it with the PLW concealer that I have in NC35. I use a flat top kabuki brush to apply and have been meaning to try it with my BB sponge. I moisturize with a yellow moisturizing gel (from a mid-price skincare line that starts with C and has a Q in it LOL), prime with MAC's Natural Radiance in yellow and set with MSFN in Medium Tan (thank you for this new color BTW! Love it!). I pair with the PLW concealer in NW30 for underneath my eyes (also lasts all day), and set the undereye with MAC'S translucent pressed powder. Hope this helps! #peace « less

Will definitely repurchase!!! It comes with a lot of product and since I use foundation only once a week, this has lasted me over a year and it still doesn’t oxidize. Very bendable and can easily build up if needed. Starts out as a medium coverage foundation and sets perfectly with powder. Doesn’t irritate my skin either! Only wish is that it had a pump, as pouring it out seems to waste a lot of product and can’t control how much is used.

Absolutely LOVE!

This foundation has the perfect balance of everything. I can't speak for those with dry skin, but I feel like this would work amazing for the dry-skinned MAC fans, as well as the oily ones (such as myself). Oil still manages to break through during the day, but the easiest fixer for me personally is to apply a blotting sheet and then apply Studio Fix powder wherever I need fixing! The coverage on this is beautiful. It's really hard to look cakey with this foundation, and it doesn't feel heavy on the skin at all. I'm wearing it right now, and it doesn't feel like I have anything on. I lightly dust Mineralize Skinfinish Natural over the powder to set it, and that's enough to give the foundation even MORE long-wearing capability. The coverage is Medium-Full, just like the website says. It isn't a medium that's closer to sheer, it's a medium that's closer to full. It can hide so many imperfections that sometimes I forget acne was even there until I remove my makeup at the end of the day. I wear this in conjunction with Pro Longwear concealer (Both are NC20), and it will literally last FOREVER, especially under my eyes. I work out by taking Zumba classes, and I'm actually a Zumba instructor as well. After doing THREE HOURS of intense cardio exercise, the only makeup that I find missing is right near my temples, where sweat excretes the most. (NOTE: I also prime my skin with Prep + Prime Face Protect.) Definitely a beautiful product, I give it two thumbs up! Thank you MAC!♥ « less

Not for me

This is the first MAC product I have ever tried. I read really good things online about this product being great for oily skin. So I got a sample and gave it a try. The girl behind the counter intially matched me to NW25. Even though my insticts told me that NC25 was a better match, I went with her recommendation. It was way too orange. When I applied some on my inner forearm, you could see exactly where it was, and it looked orange. When I got home, I put the NW25 on one half of my forehead and another foundaiton on the other half that I knew was a perfect match. The NW25 was definitely way too dark for me. So I went back to the MAC counter and got a sample of the NC25 instead. When I did the same test on my forehead, you couldn't tell which was which. I have extremely oily skin especially on my nose and cheeks. I also have some redness and small bumps on my face as the result of a genetic disease. I was looking for a foundation that would look natural and not heavy or cakey. In that regard, this product definitely delivered. This makeup gave me great coverage and covered everything I wanted covered. It gave the the natural skin look I was hoping for. A little goes a long way. . It didn't last anywhere near 15 hours on me. It lasted about 7-8. Which isn't bad, but I was hoping it would last at least 12 hours. But it may have had something to do with the primer I used with it. I'm not sure. When I first applied it, I thought it would be a perfect match. But when it dried, it turned really yellow. It wasn't bad enough that I felt embarrased about wearing it in public, but I definitely noticed it. I think I'm going to try the MAC Matchmaster foundation instead. I've read that Matchmaster is very similar in wearablity and coverage to the Pro Longwear. « less

Most Amazing Foundation I've Ever Worn

I just received my MAC Pro Longwear Foundation in the mail today, and I am... Amazed. I have acne problems and lately I've had fairly dry skin due to the creams my dermatologist has me using on my face. When I put the foundation on the patches that were dry, it looked like any other foundation: Patchy and uneven. I was scared to death because that was how my other Clinique foundation had been, but when I set the MAC with powder and buffed it out, it looked flawless. Normally I have very oily skin and my foundation and makeup slips of my face quickly throughout the day, even with the dry patches I have now. Today though, I have had my foundation on for... Probably five and a half hours. I have very little oil and my makeup looks the same as it did this afternoon when I put it on. I don't have any active breakouts now so I don't have anything to really cover, but the coverage it did give me was amazing. Oh! I forgot to mention that I have never worn a MAC face product, so I didn't know what color I was or what to expect. I'm very fair with a pinker undertone to my skin. I ordered online and decided on NW20. I was scared when I opened the package and the bottle looked pink, but when I put it on my face it blended right in! For anyone else, I would recommend going to a MAC store to get color matched, but I have no MAC store near me. I'd have to drive a long way. I don't think I'll ever use another foundation again. « less

I am in love love love with this foundation and I was wearing it for forever!! But unfortunately, neither of the NW or NC shades match my skin tone.. It turns out either too yellow or reddish on my skin. I am currently using TooFaced Born This Way in shade: Swan. It looks like a perfect match color wise (neutral undertone) but I think I could even use a tad darker, like a half shade or even less... Looking for a foundation that’s quality wise like the MAC Pro Longwear, but color matching like the TooFaced one. Any suggestions?

I am a bit of a foundation junkie and love trying new foundation. What is your favorite medium to full coverage foundation for combo skin?
