Meh...
I feel like a heathen giving this less than 5 stars since this is a cult classic... I guess i expected perfection based on the hype. The shadows are very basic. It feels like a starter palette. None of the colors are outstanding, original, or even particularly interesting. They are just the basics, shades every makeup lover should have in their collection, but not exciting by any means. The shadows are pigmented, they last, they are smooth and they blend well, which is the least you could ask of a pricey palette like this. BUT, I do not enjoy the matte shades, which is half the palette. They are extremely soft and break up into powder the minute your brush touches them, which wastes product. Then when you go to apply them, the powder falls on your face and ends up where you don't want it. For instance, I pick up a little matte brown for my crease, and the pigment falls onto my lid and cheek, and cleaning it up is a pain. The only way to avoid this is to go in with as little product as you can muster at a time and blending carefully as you go, which is time consuming.
That said, this is a nice palette. I just expected more, especially from the matte shades. I've had it for a couple months and have only used it a handful of times. I am not inclined to reach for it the way I reach for my other palettes, including some drugstore ones. I'm happy to have it in my collection, but I don't think the hype is warranted.
I love Lorac.... great pigment. Also, the custom Buxom pallets are great. 40 bucks for 6 shades you pick yourself!
