Quest for Lost Youth

Beautypedia calls this moisturizing foundation "awesome" and gives it a five-star rating, but it made my dry skin so luminous that it looked oily, and no amount of setting or mineralized powder, pressed in with a puff or swept on with a dual-fiber brush, could dim the light. In this way, I learned that glowing skin doesn't necessarily appear younger. Natural Radiance looked so light on my Caucasian skin with yellow undertones that I was desperate to add color with a number of blush applications. No more than half a day, and perhaps no more than a few hours later, I didn't recognize my own face in the mirror as the product had oxidized, and I looked deeply tanned. Beautypedia advises consumers that they would do well to wear the moisturizer over moisturizer with SPF to assure comprehensive sun protection. Way to go from senior to teen in one morning! Apply sparingly. I've had to abandon a number of glow products because the glow, if I saw it at all, dissipated quickly, but illumination *can* become glare, and the "lit from within look" can go way too far! By all means be happy and healthy. Exercise. Dream big dreams, and live large. Just don't, as a British neighbor's young son once said, "overdo." (He loved to overdo. He didn't moisturize.) The lesson: Always use samples for an entire day before you purchase a foundation or a tinted moisturizer that serves as one. Or tell Nordstrom how much you appreciate their indulgent return policy. « less

Fantastic lightweight coverage

I have very sensitive skin with hormonal breakouts in the chin area. I also have a neutral undertone, tending golden when I pick up any color during the summer months. I have tried so many foundations from the different major lines, and most are too matte, too heavy in coverage, break me out, or all of the above. This product is as close to perfect as I have found. While I love both the regular and oil-free versions, the oil-free provides a bit more coverage and evens my skin tone and covers redness better than the moisturizing version. I wear Nude in both formulations. I have noticed I receive more compliments that my skin is "glowing" when I wear the oil-free version, perhaps because it covers a bit more while still looking natural. This does not cake or settle in fine lines, and just gives you a glowing look while still giving some coverage for uneven skin tone and minor flaws. I use the pot concealer to give more coverage in the under eye area and for any blemishes or dark spots from fading blemishes. Good color match, no breakouts, and good coverage that plumps up the skin and makes it glow; I can't expect more from a tm than that. I have scoured every line, I mean every line, and always stay loyal to LM because I truly think it is the best cosmetic line on the market today. My only complaint about this product is that it does not have broad-spectrum coverage, but I also believe none of us should be relying solely on our tm or foundation for sun protection, which requires a well-applied broad spectrum SPF 30 sunblock or sunscreen. I highly recommend this product, and the entire line. Less

Perfect - Better Than Silk Creme!

I wanted the flawless look and went to invest on Laura Mercier. At first after seeing comparisons by beauty bloggers I picked the Silk Creme because it gave a smooth matte look which I thought was more suitable for the office. I used the Silk Creme on top of Radiance Foundation Primer (which I love to death). However, because I have a normal/ dry skin, Silk Creme ended up OVER-mattifying my skin. My usually supple and glowing skin looked very powdered, dried out, almost fake. The formula was also very heavy. I switched to Tinted Moisturizer and cannot be happier. It's not as dewy or as "oily" as pictured online. The result definitely depends on your skin type and the amount of product you use. The formula is light and watery and is absorbed nicely by the skin, leaving a fresh feeling. I use a sheer amount of the foundation primer, just to give my skin an even texture. I applied pea-sized amount of tinted moisturizer as a lot of bloggers recommend and blended the formula in with a foundation brush (highly recommended to get smooth, airbrushed result that you see in ads - you don't want to use your fingers and see lines). I topped it off with the loose setting powder - which is great. I think it's optional, especially for people with normal/ dry skin. But it's just nice to have the whole look set for the whole day and not have to blot your face around dinner time. What I get is a healthy, glowing skin look. NOT the oil-slick YSL foundation look - which, for me, is too much for everyday use. « less

Natural Radiance - perfect fit for dry/dull skin!

Now, I have dry skin, so everything that indicates illuminating, radiance or a dewy finish is just right up my alley. (Ergo, I have the Laura Mercier Primer in Radiance and Hydrating.) I also don´t have a whole lot of problematic skin. The occasional break out, but thats really it. Since I am not a daily foundation or tinted moisturizer kinda girl (concealer and powder does it for me on lazy days, with a primer underneath to make everything stay in place), this product is supposed to purely give me a more radiant shine on my otherwise dull and dry looking face. An SPF of 20 clearly is a winner already. Unless you expect to be photographed, an SPF of 20 or higher is always a plus in any product! You can see the light shimmer particles in the product, however ones distributed on the skin it only leaves a slight and very natural looking sheen. Also, this is a light weight product and not covering up any skin issues. It purley gives that highly anticipated dewy feeling to the skin. Overall, I would say after wearing it for a day, the illuminating effect stays on my dry skin really only for a good 4-5 hours. After that it sinks into the skin and though a slight radiant sheen is still visible, which is nice, the moisturizing effect however is completely gone. (I only powder my undereye area to keep the concealer in place and to give the moisturizer space to work. So in my case, powder does not soak up the actual moitsurizer.) It is a rather expensive tinted moitsurizer. Is it worth the money? Yes and No. Yes, it is a high quality product wich does what it says it does. Than again, depending on the skin type, results may vary, which in my case even makes me think, that the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance is giving a similar illuminating effect on the skin (though without SPF) and therfore only one of these will be repurchased. « less

My favorite daily face makeup product

Before this I wore heavy coverage foundations (from other brands). I got a deluxe sample of this and being that I was used to medium to full coverage makeup I wasn't impressed. I then grew tired of the cakey look that foundations gave me and wasn't happy with how unnatural they would look as they'd wear off throughout the day. I decided to give this another shot and loved it! This stuff sinks right into my skin and NEVER looks unnatural or cakey not even when it wears off. I wear a primer with this and a finishing powder so I don't even think that this does wear off on me. I also use concealer on acne spots and under my eyes. I do find that I touch up my t-zone with a compact powder about 1-2 times during my 12 hour day but I don't think that's bad at all. If I ever want more coverage (which isn't often) then I'll wear powder all over my face on top of this tinted moisturizer. Overall I think this is a great, natural looking product and I enjoy using it every day. I love that this evens out my skin and doesn't ever settle into creases or wrinkles. I never thought that I would be a fan of light coverage but I love it! I totally understand Laura's flawless philosophy and this product has led me to try other Laura Mercier products. So far, like my nickname says, I'm loving LM! Two things that would make this product better would be if it were SPF 30 or higher (since the recommend SPF amount for the face is 30) and if it were a little less expensive. Fortunately a little of this product does go a long way. « less

I absolutely adore this! It’s worth every cent. It doesn’t clog my pores, it’s covers blemishes but not my freckles, and a little goes a long way.

Very good and inexpensive I’ve been using this for years but I believe it’s only available in light/medium they used to have a medium/deep but I don’t think they offer it anymore.
