Hate to love it

Ok fine, it's amazing! Like everyone else I never considered trying this because it's notoriously expensive but since I'm a total Sephora junkie, I figured once in my life during the sale, why not? At first I thought it was too thick and causing breakouts (35yo, pretty good skin but fairly sensitive, prone to breakouts from thick products and starting to show fine lines/dryness) but I think it might have been how I was applying.....stopped using it for a week, decided to give it another go since I spent the money already, and really followed the application directions, and....perfect. I've been using it once or twice a day, in the morning and sometimes at night on top of a serum, and I find that it layers well under other moisturizers or sunscreens or on top of treatments. I even just used it in the hot Carribean with a thousand percent humidity, no breakouts or oily skin, just plump, healthy looking, moisturized under sunscreen. I really wanted to call it hype but if you REALLY follow the directions, rub the heck out of it between your fingers to warm it, then press, don't rub, into your skin it absorbs right in and somehow works moisturizing miracles. I started using it around St. Pats day (March 17th) and I am maybe halfway through the 0.5oz jar. So I'm a convert :-) Even if this does have ingredients that read like old school granny cold cream, something in that combo works wonders. Don't fix it if it isn't broken! « less

The ANSWER after trying everything

After a lifetime of oily skin, when I turned 50 I began to experience dry skin and all of its challenges - peeling foundation, flaking all over my nose and across my jawline, tightness, itchiness, lines, wrinkles - and an increase in the appearance of the old scars from acne. With all of that, and my tendency to break out, I began a 10 year search for something to combat all of this that would NOT break me out and let me use my prescription Retin-A that helps stop breakouts, but is drying. For years I refused to consider La Mer - I thought it was hype, experts claimed it was no better than other moisturizers and it seemed like an old-timey product - surely today there were better creams for less money. I received a sample early this year and used it on a vacation. The FIRST morning after using this amazing night cream, it was as though all my dry skin problems were immediately erased. I squeezed every drop out of that packet, went online and ordered a full-size jar. Now, it's my every night miracle - on top of my Retin-A - so I get all the benefits of both and I am SO thankful. And so many friends and colleagues are complimenting my skin (that has NEVER happened before) the texture, the smoothness, the wrinkle smoothing, firmness, the radiance - I am in awe. Thank you La Mer and thank you Nordstrom for the giant size. Per use, this is far more reasonable than the expensive moisturizers/anti-aging regimens I had bought at my dermatologists office - which did nothing. This is all I use with my Retin-A - and it is perfect. « less

DO NOT DO IT! RUINED MY SKIN

I Honestly have had my eye on this for years and decided to take the plunge and buy it recently, especially after I saw it on Olivia Culpos Instagram story. My skin is normal, some dryness here and there and oiliness but overall my skin is fairly healthy . The first couple of days using this, I noticed a glow , and I got really excited . However, fast forward two weeks -I now have these dark spots under my mouth that look like sun spots, my whole face feels so irritated , and my skin is so congested , I’m breaking out like never before . There has to be something in these ingredients they’re not telling you esp considering many of us are experience similar outcomes. My skin shouldn’t burn like this. I’ve tried drugstore 3 dollar moisturizers before and I’ve never had a reaction like this . I’m nervous and my skin better go back to normal now that this is in the trash! Save your money and don’t get suckered into it . I’m convinced these 5 star reviews must be from influencers who are getting paid for posting positive reviews . Something this expensive should at least have some positive aspects to it - but it does not. Such a disappointment Less

I always go back to La Mer Creme!

Ok, first off I'm in my late 30's. I started to see my skin just getting dull, uneven, dark spots from being in the sun and I have DRY skin. Like so dry that if I don't put anything on after I wash, it's so tight and itches all over. I have searched for the perfect Creme for many years. I have read about this before but the price put me off, but finally my hubby felt bad that I was so upset about my skin that he got me the 1 oz. I was shocked and prayed that this would be it. After I figured out how to warm up the creme (to release the miracle broth that La Mer is known for) and pat it on my face (you gotta use some pressure to really get it in the skin) and then I massage it well. After a couple of days, my skin was completely transformed!!! I was shocked. Fast forward 5 years and my husband can't get enough of my skin (saying it's the softest skin he has ever felt) and I can literally leave the house with ZERO foundation and just mascara and lipstick!! Don't forget the SPF!! I have gotten so many compliments on my skin and ppl don't believe I'm in my late 30's!! (And of course you get the haters that hate you for having perfect skin...stupid I know LOL) This cream has definitely made me more comfortable in my skin. As an Asian American, I am religiously following the double cleansing and 10 step skincare routine. It has definitely paid off. You only get one integumentary system (your skin is an organ system) so take care of it. Plus I have read some 1 star reviews and the problem is easy to fix. La Mer doesn't only have the thick creme. It comes in a soft creme formulation for normal/combo and the lotion for oily skin. There is a formulation for EVERY skin type. You just have to educate yourself. I guarantee that if they used the right La Mer moisturizer, they would love it as much as I do and many others. There is a reason why this is celebrity's favorite creme!! It's worth every penny. Just make sure you have the right skincare system for your skin, not just the creme. It starts with the cleansing oil to face soap to toner, essence, serum, eye serum, and eye cream to make it work how you want to! There isn't any short cuts to skincare. It takes work and it is well worth the 15 minutes every day and night! « less

I'll never use anything else again!

I was a bit timid about buying this product after reading so many reviews about how average a product this was despite the high cost, but everything else I've used in the past was just ho-hum. But after the first day of use, I was delighted at how great my skin felt after I applied it. But I didn't want to write a review of La Mer until I had a few weeks of use. My reasoning was that most people who've reviewed La Mer have only used it for a few days, not giving it time to work, and that's why they don't see any benefits.

Week 1: After using it the first day, I was amazed at how soft and smooth my skin felt. I had just started tanning again and my face was dry and cracking, and after day one, it was never an issue again. Excitedly, I used it as directed - twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. But for the three days, I didn't really see any change in my skins condition. That actually isn't saying much cause I already have great skin, but my skin would always get either very dry, or very oily. And between days 4-7, I started to notice that all of that was balanced out. My skin was clearer because it never got too oily, and my face never became red or painful from being overtly dry. But of course, other moisturizers I've used could fix that too.

Week 2: I was hoping for that instant miracle transition from good skin to perfect skin, but it didn't happen. Instead, I noticed a gradual change in my pored. I started getting less black heads on my nose, and my pores started to shrink. I thought that was impossible, but my face was getting smoother. Also, I noticed my eyes were less puffy. I never even knew I had puffy eyes, but now I know the difference.

Week 3: I stopped using it twice a day and started to use it just once a day, every morning after I washed my face in the shower. Honestly, I'm kind of lazy. But for some reason, I got the best results this week after the change in regime. The improvement in my skin was much more visible. The tone of my skin was completely even, as compared to before. More importantly, I have these two fine lines etched across my forehead that no one else notices, but I obsess about. By the end of the week, not only was my skin smooth, clear of blemishes, and glowing, but those wrinkles have almost fully disappeared. They're still there, but even I don't notice them anymore when I look in the mirror. One day they're there, the next day, they're practically gone.

Week 4: Well, I just started week 4, but I'm excited to see what happens.

Honestly, if you've tried it for a week and didn't care for it, try it for a month before you consider giving up or writing a bad review. The improvements are gradual. So gradual, in fact, that if I didn't take time every few days to thoroughly examine the condition of my skin, I would have never noticed the changes happening. But the improvements that this creme has made are completely satisfying. For me, it has done what so many other treatments, including microdermabrasion, promised to do, but couldn't deliver. My skin is near perfect now, and for you, this may not happen in a month. I started out with youthful skin (I'm 26 years old), and with few blemishes and marks. If you have skin with more blemishes and fine lines, of course it'll take more time, but regardless, this cream will do its job. I really believe it's worth the money.

A few other notes and tips: (1) a 2 oz. jar goes a long way - I'm guessing that at the rate I'm using it (which is sparingly), the jar will last about two months; (2) go to a La Mer counter near you and learn how to warm up and activate the cream before applying it or you're wasting your time; (3) the creme does make your skin shiny for the first few hours after application while it's still soaking into the skin, so if you don't want to look too shiny, consider investing in a lightweight powder that won't clog your pores; and (4) I wouldn't recommend wearing much make-up while using this as it takes a few hours for the cream to really soak into the skin, and the application of make-up, like foundation,... « less

I love the Armani foundation but if you have naturally dry skin using a medium to heavy prep moisturizer is very important. The @Creme De La Mer and @Protini Polypeptide Cream from drunk elephant are life LIFE. Also for more affordable @AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen is amazing! Worth it but remember that if you have dry skin moisturize, mist your skin through the day with like rose water or something you like, and set you make up WELL. Good luck with your makeup journey sis !!
