All I was hoping for

I wanted to order a bunch of these when Glossier was made available in the UK but then I thought I'd try one and see if I liked it. I have to say, it's everything I thought it would be. I'm not a fan of very opaque lipsticks for daytime, and I was just looking for something that would be translucent and leave a sheer wash of color. This is exactly it. If feels balm-y, but not overwhelmingly so, if that makes sense; I like tinted balms, but usually I'll feel like I have a layer of grease on my lips, and it's unpleasant. This one feels very lightweight in comparison, but it doesn't dry out my lips. The texture is exactly what I've always needed from a lipstick but never found anywhere, because instead of looking glossy, it's rather matte, but not like the matte lipsticks that are everywhere now and feel very powdery. I have the shade Like, which is a sheer pink, and honestly to me, the best thing. I love daytime makeup that will leave people wondering if I'm wearing anything, but will just enhance my features so that I look nice. I have to add that I can apply this without having to look in a mirror. I saw that some people were struggling with the packaging; it's not my case, hope it lasts. I want to try Zip now!

The most versatile lip product I've ever owned.

My favorite lip formula, hands down. I own like, zip and jam. In a nutshell: this product has changed the lip game for me. One swipe is perfect for the days you don't want to wear a full face of makeup / intense lipstick or lipgloss, but still want a subtle flush of color on your lips. Build it up with 3-4 swipes to intensify the color, and you have the perfect evening lip color that won't smudge on your teeth throughout the night. Formula: SO UNIQUE. Imagine a lip balm that dries down to a matte/natural finish... without drying out your lips. It is less emollient than a lipstick, which I love because the color does. not. budge. Feels very lightweight on the lips, like you're not wearing anything at all. Colors: My first color, "like," is by far my favorite. It is the perfect pinky mauvey neutral. I like to build it up with 3 or 4 swipes for a very clean, professional look. Jam is a deep berry color. I only really wear this in the evenings, but it is stunning. I only apply an extremely light layer of this. Zip is a washed out red, it feels very vintage and is a lovely alternative to the intense red lip so many people like to rock. Packaging: The new packaging feels more sturdy than the first generation of Gen G lippies, the cap doesn't come off as much and the white plastic is a bit more opaque. However I did experience issues with my lipstick detaching from the inside of the tube. The Glossier team was super helpful and accommodating when I reached out to them about this issue. Best customer service ever!

Great product marred by cheap packaging

I first bought the brown shade, loved its texture and sheer pigment, after a few weeks in my makeup bag (who doesn't carry lipstick around with them to reapply?) the top cracked and no longer stayed on, making it impossible to use on the go (and unsanitary). I alerted Glossier who assured me it was a fluke. They sent me a new brown shade, and I invested in light pink and red. Well, the brown shade top cracked again a few weeks later, the red "stick" broke off inside the tube and now slides around everywhere. I has basically stopped using these super flattering and gorgeous shades because I am paranoid they are going to get into my pocketbook and ruin it! Glossier obviously knows this is a problem and hasn't taken steps to fix it, which is upsetting.

Love it!

Honestly, I was surprised by this product. I'm not a huge lipstick fan, and I really don't like berry or pink colors. I got the Generation G in Crush and I honestly love it. It is not a color I would normally pick for myself but it goes on so sheer and natural that it just makes my lips look juicy and plump. I love the formula too, because unlike other lipsticks that are overly creamy and just feel like their rubbing all over your lips or other matte lipsticks that are super drying, Generation G really feels like just a light, moisturizing layer. I definitely will be getting this in other colors.

The new go-to

First of all, not a rep. Let me just say I appreciate makeup, I'm decent at it when I have time, but I have been in search of low maintenance makeup/casual makeup "no makeup" makeup for quite some time. This is perfect for that. Particularly, I have struggled with lipsticks. I have a small mouth, so anything with any shine makes me look rediculous. As such, I've tried many, many matte lipsticks and experienced mostly thick, cakey lipsticks. Even if they go on smooth, they dry out and they crack. They're so thick that if you rub your lips the wrong way it smudges and you look like a clown. This is so different. It feels like chapstick. It stays moisturizing for as long as you're wearing it - honestly. I also have fair skin, so if I wear any lip color without having done my eyes and eyebrows, I always look unbalanced and unfinished. This lipstick, for whatever reason, looks great and natural if I'm wearing nothing else at all - even in a bold color. It doesn't smudge outside of where it should go, probably because it's "buildable" and takes a few swipes to make a mark. Absolutely great. Also doesn't smell weird IMHO. Only negatives: not super pigmented. But, that's kind of the point (low maitenence, buildable, etc.) Take note that it looks CRAZY dark on the stick itself but in my experience doesn't transfer onto you that dark. This poor transfer is usually a sign of a bad formula, but I think this is what gives it all of it's other redeeming qualities. Packaging is a little cheap feeling but if it keeps the price down, I dont care. 9.5/10.

What’s the best lip product (balm, lipstick) that’s natural and hydrating? It doesn’t have to be long lasting, something like a sheer/slight tint to add color to your lips so you don’t look like a ghost! Thank you!

Does anyone have a red lip color that isn’t too bold? I just want something chill enough to wear to class or out for lunch. I’m chill with any form: stick, floss, liquid, etc.

I’m not a huge fan of lip products for two main reasons: 1) I hate wearing lipstick... If it’s not dry, it WILL come off within 20 minutes of application 😬 2) I’m just not a huge fan of intense colors on my lips... so I resort to wearing chapstick or tinted balms... any suggestions for beginner lip products that won’t be heavy on the lips / provide a lil pop of color?
