CombinationCombination Skin
Hello! I have combination to oily skin and currently use the @Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation but my skin got flakier when I started applying my foundation. Could it be because of the foundation or because of my acne medication which includes tretinoin, a retin a, has been drying my skin out a lot? Also, can I please get suggestions on primers, setting sprays, concealers, powders to use after concealer, and foundation? Thank you!

Hi! I have dry skin and I tried this foundation (before the hydrating formula came out) and I hated it. Like I don’t think a foundation has ever looked so bad on my skin before LOL. That said, your acne treatments could be making your skin drier and then having a matte finish foundation probably is just exacerbating the condition. Maybe try the hydrating formula of the fenty?? I use a hydrating one from Giorgio Armani and it’s kinda pricey but, buildable and not cakey!

I can’t seem to ever get my makeup to stay or look good all day long! 3-4 hours and it looks terrible in my opinion. I use elf setting spray and a setting powder but everything fades. Foundation, eyeliner, etc. Tips? Products?

It Cosmetics! They make one (the one I linked) that’s specifically for acne so it’s full coverage pigment infused into skincare that helps acne (not acne skincare infused into pigment). Also their regular Bye Bye Undereye concealer is the most full coverage concealer I have ever found and I use it to cover blemishes on soooooo many clients. The only thing about those are that you definitely have to set them with a powder. Another option is to use a concealer on a blemish and then use a full coverage foundation powder (I like the new Urban Decay one) on top... but you have to be careful with this trick because it can end up looking cakey if the 2 products you use don’t layer well with each other or if you layer too much.

Yeah I’ve tried it! Idk how I really felt about it. On the upside, it’s really soft on the skin and feels nice. It has a bit of a scent, Idk if you’re put off by stuff like that. It’s not a bad smell but it is there. In terms of how well it works, it’s a nice powder but don’t leave it on for long because it gives flash back REAL quick.

Pesky pimples that’s not going away for weeks? I broke out in cystic acne after using the L’Oréal infallible pro matte foundation. The pimples turned into hard bumps that’s been the same for over 2 weeks now. I tried the MB drying lotion but it gave me red bumps. Thank you!

Here are other options you can use: SheaMoisture Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Milk Cleanser, Ultra Repair Cream by First Aid Beauty, SheaMoisture Daily Hydration Créme Sugar Scrub: this should help with texture and exfoliating your skin; SheaMoisture usually has a lot of organic or Pure Coconut Oil products if you really don’t know where to look for Pure Coconut Oil Products.

Believe it or not, this is a REALLY good lip mask! It’s only $1 on shop miss A. The only thing I’m not the biggest fan of is the smell. It has a coconut cake type smell but it doesn’t even last for more than a minute after you put it on. But yeah, this stuff is amazing! My lips are super hydrated when I wake up. 😊

I’ve tried so many mascaras and I have yet to find one that doesn’t flake on me. At this point I’m starting to think it’s something I’m doing, but idk how you can screw up with mascara application. Plus I only ever apply two layers. Does anyone have any advice? #mascara #flakey

My sister has tried it and it cleared up her acne really good. You can’t be in the sun too much so you would have to use a lot of sunscreen and wear a hat or carry an umbrella.

The first thing would be a good moisturizer, I love the Garnier SkinActive Gel Moisturizer for combo skin. Next would be a good primer. For oily skin, it’s usually a good idea to get a mattifying one, I really love the Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment or Essence also had a good mattifying primer with black clay. For foundation, I love the L’Oreal Fresh Wear 24hr Foundation. Good concealers are Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, Maybelline Fit Me, or Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer. Next is a setting powder, especially for oily skin, it’s better to set your makeup, my favorites are the Coty Airspun loose powder and the Maybelline Fit Me loose powder. Physicians Formula butter bronzers and blushes are awesome. I always use bronzers, blushes and highlighters as eyeshadows too. Personally, I usually use eyeshadows as eyeliner, but the Nyx Slide On Glide On pencils are good. As for brushes, I usually use a Real Techniques makeup sponge to apply foundation and concealer. All of my brushes are either Real Techniques or Morphe, those are two of the best brands for brushes. You could also try looking at some YouTube videos for makeup essentials/starter kit. Hope this helps!

@Madi M. Lee it really gets everything off in my opinion. I still do a little wash with oatmeal soap after using it just because I’m so used to washing my face at night. But if I don’t want to get up and wash it, I won’t break out in the morning like I would with a makeup wipe

Curology is the only thing that has helped me. In about two-three months it completely cleared up my acne. Now I have a formula that prevents breakouts and treats the hyperpigmentation that previous blemishes have left behind. This formula has also been made to help with my huge pores (which is definitely has). I don’t really understand how this one bottle could have helped my skin so much but I feel like I really have hit the jackpot with this product. The dermatologist they provide you with is so helpful! I love Curology and I am so happy that I tried it. It’s definitely worth the shot! Feel free to use this link for a coupon if you (or anyone) decides they want to make a change!! Good luck on you journey to clear skin!!! https://share.curology.com/x/lDtL6G

Why am I (for the first time) breaking out on my cheeks and temples?? This isn’t where I normally break out :/ I don’t ever talk on the phone and I use silk pillowcases. I’ve been battling these new breakouts for a couple months now, have used everything and they’re not going away, SOS!

i was just in the same boat! personally i started taking some biotin high in vitamin a for oiliness, washing my pillowcases/sheets often, limiting my dairy & sugar intake due to the location of my breakouts, and double checking my hydration levels. i still have breakouts and stuff bc i stress a lot but it’s much better due to these couple of simple things.
