Amazing Foundation

I used to wear the normal Double Wear but after constant use it started to make my skin a bit dry so I switched foundations but was always looking for something 'just like double wear'. Nothing ever met my expectations as it was just not heavy coverage enough. After my last foundation ran out I decided to go back to Double Wear and was so pleased to see they had Double Wear Max Coverage - even better!! After the first wear, I have to say I was a little disappointed. The texture is not at all like the normal Double Wear, I want to say it's quite moussey and almost powder like when applied but don't let this put you off! I applied it with a beauty blender and was a bit underwhelmed - it was ok, but not as good as I was expecting and didn't seem to be max coverage at all. The second time I applied it I used a foundation brush to apply and then used the beauty blender just to dab it into the skin and this time I was blown away! My skin looks airbrushed, redness and spot scarring is completely covered and it does look super full coverage without being cakey. I absolutely recommend applying with a foundation brush and NOT a beauty blender. If it helps with shade matching (normally I can get a pretty good match by looking online but had to visit the store to match myself with this), I am shade creamy tan in this DW Max, my other foundation shades are MAC Studio Fix fluid NC15 and DW Normal in shade Sand. Even though I use primer before applying, and powder after, I still found my normal oily zones just as bad as they usually are at the end of the day. If you have super oily skin I wouldn't expect this to keep you matte all day, but still worth purchasing! « less

Omg...Best Full Coverage

My favorite "HG" foundation!!!!! I have tan, combination skin and wear 4N2 in this brand. That's equivalent to MAC NC42. I have tried a ton of high end foundations that claim to be full coverage. As a woman in her late 30s, my preference is to have absolutely flawless looking skin. I have acne scars and a few other dark spots that I like to keep covered.... this foundation has proven to be The One for the type of coverage I crave. It has a sort of soft texture, but you must work fast once you put it on your skin. Apply it in sections and buff quickly. I use a brush with all of my makeup, and this just blends so beautifully with my skin. Covers every teensy tiny little imperfection; the other reviews are right: a little goes a long way!!!! It's not a wet texture, it's pretty light and I love the squeeze tube. If you are heavy handed with your foundation application, you could make this foundation look cakey and thick. I use moisturizer, primer, and then apply this dreamy stuff. A light dusting of setting powder and this stuff stays put all day long. Will not budge. I would say that it might be best for combination and/or oily skin, as it reduces shine and gives the perfect finish. I would think that if your skin is more on the dry side, or tends to flake, this foundation would probably emphasize those issues. This product gets 100 stars from me!

Is there any way around this cake?

I actually ordered this from Macy's because I'd read so many excellent reviews about this foundation. After using it though, it's my opinion that it needs to be advertised as body makeup only, specifically, smooth and flat tattoo coverage. First, there is no way that this can be applied without looking extraordinarily cake-y. If you have any drier patches, raised areas or bumps such as acne or acne scarring, this is absolutely not going to do anything other than call attention to them. I thought maybe I needed to shake the tube? I've tried applying this with everything from a my fingers to the mac toothbrush style, to my damp beautyblender, a damp real techniques sponge, a damp makeup wedge, the official Estee Lauder foundation brush, my eco tools foundation brush, my elf brush, my It Cosmetics foundation brush, my Luxie brush, my It Cosmetics stipple brush and the list literally goes on and on. I paired it with various moisturizers, primers and so on. I'm very experienced in makeup application and used to use Dermablend and I own just about every foundation on the market from drug store to obscure brands to extremely high end, and this is absolutely the worse foundation I have ever tried in my entire life. It's extremely dry and drying and is similar to Maybelline Dream Mousse, only thicker and it doesn't give the blurring effect. It's like applying Make Up Forever HD Step 1 Mattifying Primer (if it was pigmented) yet it does not conceal or fill pores. This is like a thick, water based sludge that is impossible to tamp down and buff, regardless of how little I use or how much. If you added water to your bare minerals original powder foundation, that is a good example of the consistency: powdery goo. It doesn't spread, and it calls attention to every pore, and I discovered lines I never knew I had when this sludge settled into them. It. Is. SO. Dry. I have severely oily skin and always have, and I have old acne marks to cover. This made me look like I was smack dab in the middle of a horrid breakout. I can't return it because then they'll charge me full price for the bonus this garbage came with, so I am totally stuck. I can't even recommend this as a concealer, as it doesn't even seem as pigmented as most concealers are. If you're considering this, it does run 4 shades (exactly) darker than the original Doublewear just FYI. The 1N1 shade I got is ORANGE. Bright orange. I'm wondering if this was a bad batch or a really bad backdoor fake? But I got it from here. I urge you to visit the counter and actually test it ON YOUR FACE not your hand because it's smooth in application on the hand and body but not on the face. Less

The best I've used in 26 years!

I have severe hereditary dark circles due to my ethnicity. I also have lots of dark acne scarring and with both these issues have never found a concealer or foundation that truly covered everything perfectly and can last through rain, sweat, heat and severe humidity. I started searching for concealers since age 17. I am now 43 and in all my years this is the best. I use their DoubleWear foundation for my face and then a smidge of this under my eyes and on any scars, blemishes, areas of redness that need more coverage. They have extended their range of shades finally and they match their Double wear foundation counterparts of the same name perfectly. It looks just seamless. If I need more coverage all over, I use this as my foundation and concealer- using a damp beautyblender to apply this all over my face and then my undereye circles. I even put it on my lids and it is a great primer to hold shadows and cover any darkness so shadows will pop. If Estee Lauder stops making this, I'll truly be at a loss. I used to be so ashamed of my dark circles and acne dark scars. Not anymore. I feel amazing wearing this and have received several compliments through the years.A little does go a long way so moisturize heavily and use sparingly then build up as you go. I find a damp sponge makes it not as dry or cakey. No need for even setting powder after this. I will never use anything else. It even covers tattoos and birthmarks etc. and you can swim in it and it will not come off. This is magical in my opinion. From trying low to high end brands - nothing comes close to this. I've used it for over 10 years now and will not use anything else. Less

this is an amazing concealer

I bought this to pair with double wear foundation. I have extremely oily skin (no seriously...i shine heavily within the 30 min mark) and double wear is amazing and my favorite but i needed something extra for spot coverage. This is amazing! I bought a shade lighter than my foundation (Rattan) and tried this both before and after applying double wear foundation and found that it works best either way. It lasts very long and doesnt need reapplying. My T zone being an oil slick is challenging for spot concealing but with some translucent powder to set then followed by a good setting spray (skindinavia is great) i find this is amazing. The specialist at the Estee Lauder counter mentioned a technique she saw another woman use, and what she did was apply a very very thin layer of this foundation, followed by the same shade in doube wear and she said her skin looked so smooth. So i tried it and it looked very thick. So combining a full face of both foundations i would not recommend if you have enlarged pores. It stayed on like cement but i think it looked caked on. Since i bought this foundation in a shade lighter I did not try on it's own for the day. But it sets quickly so I applied quickly using fingers only onto freshly moisterized skin and it did blend well. « less

I use the Estée Lauder maximum cover or the light wear. You need one drop and that’s more than enough to cover your face throughly
