works just as well as the Smashbox Hydrating Undereye Primer

So I used to use the Smashbox Hydrating Undereye Primer, but wanted to find a cheaper alternative to it. I bought this one, on a whim, and actually tested each undereye primer (ELF under one eye, Smashbox under the other) for 5 days, and I found that the ELF one is actually a bit better because my concealer stayed in place for way longer on that side of my face :) Since doing that little test, I've repurchased this ELF undereye primer at least 3 or 4 times, and will continue to restock on it when I run out. I usually buy a few at a time, since they're so cheap! Just for reference, I have very dry skin, big pores, and fine lines around my eyes and forehead. I use this primer under my eyes, and on my forehead, and it helps to keep my foundation out of the fine lines, while simultaneously hydrating my skin :) user

This product is great for mattifying on-the-go! Just apply a little bit to shiny spots or your finger and dab in. Feels like skin once it dries and doesn't leave a white cast. Also great for those little under eye lines before applying primer. [: user

Excellent product, repeat buyer, no creasing!

As I've aged I've lost some of the natural oils in my skin and suddenly all under eye concealer was crinkling up. No matter what prep I did, what product, how many different setting powders (including spending ridiculous money on products like Laura Mercier) my under-eye concealer was aging me terribly! After wasting so much money I found this and it is the one product I use every single day and stock up on. This, set with the under eye setting powder, is the perfect combination. ZERO crepe-y eyes! Finally. It sets perfectly, doesn't latch onto lines or look dry and helps set my eyeliner.I don't write many reviews at all, but I had to for this product. If you are having similar issues with that dried out under eye look perhaps this product along with the setting powder will help you as it has me! « less user

Amazing stuff.

For those who are worried about mineral oil - STOP. Mineral oil's molecules are too big to penetrate the skin. It will not, and can not, hurt your skin whatsoever. It may have the potential to break you out, but it is a 0 on the comedogenic rating system. Now, as for this product - IT IS AMAZING. I have been running out of my eye cream and I find that I don't really need it anymore under my makeup, because this stuff is super hydrating and smoothing. It has a slight pink tint (that mostly disappears after it's rubbed in) which helps with brightening. It makes my concealer go on super smooth and stay on longer. I do find that it also makes it look far less dry and cakey, even when I use more. However, it doesn't do anything for creasing, but I don't even care. I'm actually fine with my concealer "creasing" (settling into lines), as I can guarantee that there is no product out there that will make your concealer "float" above your wrinkles...and if you're making any type of expression during your day, it's going to settle into those lines. Sorry.Anywho, love this stuff. Thought that ELF had discontinued it and was gonna start a riot. Keep it up! « less user

Not all bad

It's a nice idea, certainly. In my experience, however, the product only seems to mattify the skin. Mattifying is a good thing for flaws, of course. I believe the ingredients are also moisturizing, and whether or not it prevents damage is still a mystery. I have some very fine lines. One on my forehead, and a couple under my eyes. This product doesn't do much for them. Also, the packaging is just awful. I pumped a lot and nothing came out - turned it over, and it spills a ton of product. At least it doesn't stain. I'm not sure what I expected. I'm sure I would have liked it better if it weren't so hard to work with. It could conceivably serve to be a good primer over flaws.

If you had to suggest to a friend your favorite inexpensive makeup product, which one would it be?

@Hydrating Under Eye Primer It really keeps my concealer from creasing without drying things out. Without it I’d ALWAYS have creasing and eye product melting down.
