staying power

while this is my daily foundation, i recently wore this to my prom and it held up perfectly all night and looked flawless in pictures

- Elfcosmetics User

i set this foundation with the hd powder in sheer, also from elf, and my foundation has lasted all day with minimal shine

- Elfcosmetics User

blends well

the coverage is nice, the smell is nice but at the same time a little odd/unexpected (i'm guessing it's the witch hazel i'm smelling), it's easy to blend, and the color is nice as well

- Elfcosmetics User

i got this in porcelain and it matches me perfectly, it is great coverage and blends beautifully

- Elfcosmetics User

good quality

it feels like i have no foundation on whatsoever when i wear it and is super durable - it lasts me all day without having to touch up

- Elfcosmetics User

i'd pay a lot more than $6 for a foundation of this quality

- Elfcosmetics User

anyway it's really nice for anyone who wants a full-coverage foundation, whether they have acne or not, and also if their skin is a bit dryer

- Elfcosmetics User

it actually does help minimize the size of any pimples, but i realized that if i continue my same acne routine with this foundation, my skin gets really dry, so moisturizer is an absolute must morning and night

- Elfcosmetics User

then i apply the mineral infused primer (green) after a light application with a little concentration on acne red areas of the tone correcting powder in cool (i'm fair skinned) then i apply this acne makeup using a "new" damp makeup sponge (sorry elf but when you have cystic acne brushes are a killer with liquid foundation unless you wash it after every use which is a big hassle besides patting motion with makeup sponge gives better coverage, with a light application and an airbrushed look) it feels so light when u do it this way but its full coverage

- Elfcosmetics User

for the price, i was absolutely shocked to see how much coverage it gave me, especially since it feels so light and natural on the skin

- Elfcosmetics User

pore minimizing

pore minimizing

this foundation, however, has provided the best pore coverage

- Elfcosmetics User

i've been looking for a foundation that doesn't clog my pores and prevents/reduces/conceals breakouts and this is perfect

- Elfcosmetics User

the coverage is great (it builds to a full)

- Ulta User

it is full coverage, literally 1 layer is good, but it is definitely buildable

- Elfcosmetics User

it has the best coverage and creamy texture

- Elfcosmetics User

it looks very silky and natural on my skin with a good medium coverage

- Elfcosmetics User

color accuracy

doesn't oxidize

i cannot say enough about this product it's amazing ,it oxidizes fast ,makes me pores look invisible ,it is my perfect skin tone ,it covers all my freckles without concealer which says a lot because i have so many freckles ,it helps with my small breakouts ,it last literally hours with no touching up

- Elfcosmetics User

i believe it does oxidize some, so just make sure you blend it onto your neck well otherwise there is an obvious line on your jaw

- Elfcosmetics User

i am only 26, any brands of foundation i used before, even from the drugstore, have not caked or creased this bad before

- Elfcosmetics User

within an hour, it greased up and creased in my lines (i have dry skin)

- Elfcosmetics User

non brightening

using this product made me look washed out and ashy

- Elfcosmetics User

almost a bright yellow tone

- Elfcosmetics User

it provides medium coverage with one layer that is buildable and the finish is like a demi-matte

- Ulta User

the finish of this foundation is demi-matte and medium/full coverage

- Elfcosmetics User

high coverage

this acne fighting foundation is full coverage

- Elfcosmetics User

out of all the "full coverage", matte, dewy, expensive foundations i have, this one has (luckily for me) matched the best, covered the best, and effected my already angry skin the least negative way

Pay the extra $3 for a different drugstore brand.

Did not work for me! I have combination-oily skin and am acne prone although I do not currently have any BAD breakouts. I thought this acne fighting foundation would be good for me to try because I am sensitive to breakouts. Coverage was medium to full. The product looked great right after I applied it, but would breakdown after only a few hours, usually on my nose. I have tried this with and without a primer. I have tried applying it with brushes, sponges and fingers. And I have tried it with concealers and setting powders, but nothing seems to fix it. Infact, adding more powder or product only made it worse. I was quite annoyed! I WOULD NOT recommend this product to anyone with dry skin or even dry patches, as I feel this product would accentuate it. There's better out there - pay the extra $3 for a slightly better but still affordable product. This product did live up to its claims though - I did not breakout from it, and it covered everything. But the finish was too powdery and matte, not in a good way. « less

Cystic acne and oily skin miracle!

First off, let me explain "my" skin type...cystic acne breakouts on chin area and lower cheeks (it's hormonal so no, this makeup doesn't make it "better", what it does do, which is extraordinary in itself, is that it doesn't make it worse!) Second, I have very oily skin, the type where typically 30 mins after applying makeup I'm already blotting. Now I've tried almost every other foundation except for one on ELF and none help with these issues except for this one (I won't give poor reviews on the others because to each their own. What may not have worked for me could be just perfect for somebody else) . On its own its good, but I've developed a routine where it works wonders. After washing and toning (sorry don't use ELF products for that) Ispot treat with the elf acne stuff, the one with the brush. Love it! Then I apply the mineral infused primer (green) after a light application with a little concentration on acne red areas of the tone correcting powder in cool (I'm fair skinned) then I apply this acne makeup using a "new" damp makeup sponge (sorry elf but when you have cystic acne brushes are a killer with liquid foundation unless you wash it after every use which is a big hassle besides patting motion with makeup sponge gives better coverage, with a light application and an airbrushed look) It feels so light when u do it this way but its full coverage. The tone correcting powder gets rid of most of the redness so very little makeup is needed. After letting that set. I apply (with brush) some of the elf makeup powder (forgot the name its in a compact though). I'll sometimes use the puff it comes with on acne areas and nose with light pressing motion for added coverage and to cover pores. I'm very happy with the results! Maybe it works for u maybe it wont. But it works for me. And using my own wash and homemade toner along with some homeopathic medicine my acne is finally nearly gone. I only get 2 or 3 bad cysts while pmsing which dissipate afterwards. This makeup is light though, watery feeling but has the best coverage because it "stays" in place on oily skin. If you have dry skin, i don't know how it might work for u, perhaps moisturizing properly would do but don't give bad reviews just because it doesn't suit your skin type. Because it could be just the thing for somebody else. ELF! More 50% off sitewide promotions please! I use those to purchase all your new stuff to try it out for kicks cause it doesn't hurt my wallet so much if the product doesn't suit me. But thanks so much for this makeup! Mind u its better than bare minerals and tarte ( which I did use in the past) for my issues. « less

Amazing coverage + zaps zits!

The E.L.F. Studio Acne Fighting Foundation is awesome! I am pretty impressed with all of E.L.F. Studio line, the quality exceeds expectations (especially considering price). This product was no exception, I really like it! E.L.F. seriously needs to widen the range of shades available because many, many, many ladies out there could benefit from the beautiful coverage and acne-fighting properties that this low-priced product offers! This stuff is great! I love my little bottle, and even though I use it every single day, I hope it lasts a while! When I run out, I will definitely be buying more. In reviews, you are not supposed to include references to other retailers.. but I will say this: I have used the more expensive version of this product (which at the drugstore, cost over twice as much as E.L.F. sells its for) and I totally prefer E.L.F.'s version. A little amount of this makeup goes a long way, just a few pin-sized dots cover large areas of problem skin. I usually squeeze a tiny tiny amount on the back of my hand, then take my right ring-finger fingertip (lightest touch) and dab on lightly on blemishes. I use my pinky to blend. I like to set this product with a setting powder (my favorite combo is the E.L.F. clarifying powder - has even more acne-fighting ingredients - plus the kabuki brush E.L.F. makes) although powder is not necessary, it just gives my face that FLAWLESS finish. When I take my makeup off at night, my face ALWAYS looks better than it did that morning, this product really works while it is on your face. This product has a winning formula. For starters, salicylic acid is a key ingredient in many skin-care products for the treatment of acne. Salicylic acid has been shown to work through several different pathways. One way is that it produces its anti-inflammatory effects via suppressing the activity of certain enzymes. If you are like me and have oily, acne-prone skin, then you know alllllll about this ingredient - salicylic acid is in the majority of acne products on the market, and while they tackle acne, they never totally "solve" it - in fact, they can often replace acne with a different kind of skin problem: major dryness and irritation. THIS product is different, though - in addition to the salicylic acid, this product also offers anti-irritation (soothing) agents that enhance the acne-fighting action already taking place. Witch hazel contains gallic acid and tannins, used topically as an astringent. Camphor is chiefly used in external preparations to relieve mild pain and itching - camphor is readily absorbed through the skin and produces a feeling of cooling similar to that of menthol, and acts as slight local anesthetic and antimicrobial substance. There are anti-itch gels and cooling gels with camphor as the active ingredient. Tea tree oil has been scientifically investigated only recently. Some sources suggest beneficial medical properties when applied topically, including antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. Aloe vera has long been considered a soothing ingredient and is claimed to have some medicinal effects, which have been supported by scientific and medical research. The gel in the leaves can be extracted and is often used to heal burns such as sunburn, or chemical burn (ex: skin irritation you can have happen when using salicylic acid). In conclusion, if you have oily/problem skin, I recommend this product to you. In my makeup routine, it has been a game-changer, I use this every single day. ONE WAY E.L.F. COULD IMPROVE THIS: make a BB cream (or CC cream) based on this formula, but also offer SPF. For right now, I am extremely happy with this product, but remember girls: always wear a SPF moisturizer on your face, every day, no matter the weather. So important! You can also try E.L.F.'s sunscreen (SPF 45) powder with this. Give this product a try - you will be happy with the results you see! And as always, you can't beat E.L.F.'s price! Thanks, E.L.F.! « less

I ordered this foundation due to the ingredients. All of those that are listed on the front of the bottle are either excellent at treating acne or soothing irritated skin, two issues that I suffer from! When you first begin dabbing the foundation on your skin, it looks like it's going to be very thick and heavy, but it isn't. It covers just as well as my more expensive brand that I was using, but is lightweight, blends well, dries very well, and leaves a nice, powdery, satin finish. Actually, I think this actually evened out my skin tone better than my other foundation. After applying, I felt like my face could still breathe and that it looked completely natural. I was also impressed with how long it lasted. By midday, my makeup usually looks like it's completely melting and needs a major touch-up. (It doesn't help that I live in Louisiana-humidity central!) There was very minimal oil on my face at midday, though, and by the evening it still looked good. I have a hard time finding shades of foundation close to my skin tone. I have fairish skin with yellow undertones, brown eyes, and auburn hair. Many foundations leave my face looking completely pink, which sends me over the edge. That being said, I ordered the buff shade. The evening I got this in, I was playing around with it and the color looked perfect. No pink tones at all. Yay! The next morning, though, it looked slightly orange-ish. I'm not sure if it was reacting to my moisturizer or what (since I wasn't wearing any the night before), but I went over the foundation with elf's yellow mineral booster and the color then looked completely fine, and blended very well along my jawline. I currently have a small cluster of pimples on the side of my neck, just under my jawline. I've been fighting with them for about 2 weeks now. By midday, those pimples actually were drying up, slightly shrunken, and less red than they had been. I have to be extremely picky about what I put on my skin due to my stubborn acne, so I'm very pleased to find a makeup that seems as if it's going to work with me, and not against me. Overall, I'm very impressed and completely satisfied. Another great, affordable product. Way to go e.l.f.!! « less

Beyond Expectations

I don't think I've ever written a review before, I rarely do, but I just HAD to write one for this product. When I first saw this product I thought it was interesting that it was acne fighting. My skin isn't prone to acne but I do get a few pimples here and there once in a while, and I have combination skin. When I first got it, I was kind of skeptical and really did not expect much; but boy, was I wrong. It's amazing how you just need a small amount of this product and it does such an amazing job! And since I started using it I haven't really gotten a pimple on my face in the longest time. I just use a dime size amount(probably smaller) and it covers my entire face with AMAZING coverage. I've never really seen anything like it. The best part was I felt like I wasn't wearing any makeup whatsoever. I've tried other brands and my skin isn't too problematic, and those other brands work fine, but I will probably never buy any other foundation besides this one. It has a dry finish, no need for powder in the slightest and I just couldn't believe how well it blended, how light it felt and the amount of coverage it offered. I seriously cannot stop raving about this product. I use mine every day and since I only need to use just a small amount it has been lasting longer than I expected. There's no smell, coverage is amazing (medium-full), feels COMPLETELY light as if I'm not wearing any make up at all, and wear time for me was all day. It was kind of like real life photoshop for me because it didn't feel like I was wearing any makeup. I even like to use it as a concealer and it works beautifully. It's like I don't even need anything else. I've been interested in buying some BBcreams, but after buying this I really feel no need. My sister has more dry skin than I do and she tried it on and it looked amazing on her as well, I'm not sure how well it would work for oily skin but I'm sure it'll work wonderfully. It's an amazing product at an incredible price and I couldn't be any happier. I'm definitely buying more of this. « less

3 day difference...3 days ago I stopped using the Biore face wash tagged, as well as only Tarte Shape Tape concealer on my spots (practically on my entire face). I switched to the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser as well as E.l.fs Acne Fighting Foundation, my skin feels much cleaner and is visibly brighter and less oily. Not to mention my breakouts have begun to calm down! Acne has been a huge insecurity for me since I can remember, these are the first products I’ve ever used that have showed progress. I would highly recommend these products!!!

Hi all! I have very oily skin & large pores, especially in the t-zone area, so I’m on a hunt for a mattifying foundation. I’ve tried the Lancôme Tein Tidole Ultra 24 & my t-zone was extra shiny 4hrs in. I’ve also tried the Maybelline Fit Me Poreless foundation, which worked well, but it was too heavy on my skin. Your help is very much appreciated! 🤗

I use the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation and I really want to upgrade it to something better because it creases so bad and makes my skin look.. bleh 😖. Y’know?? I would like to find a foundation that is cheap yet has some decent quality to it. That is smooth and doesn’t crease so terribly ✨ I will greatly appreciate any other cheap brand recommendation 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

I vouch for the elf acne fighting foundation foundation. It has great buildable coverage, and really soothing ingredients. I pair it with the elf hydrating concealer and it works amazing. That exact type of foundation doesn’t have a huge selection of shades, but it’s so cheap that you can buy a few and mix them if need be :) good luck love I kno ur struggles xxx
