Absolutely adore this foundation!

I don't write reviews on Sephora very often, but I had to review this. I am in love with this foundation. I am okay with the price tag because I have extremely acne-prone skin, and this is the *only* liquid foundation I have ever tried that hasn't made me break out! I even accidentally slept in it once--no new blemishes in the morning. I waited several months after purchasing to write this review, just to make sure I didn't start to break out from it later, but thankfully, I have not. So, if you are prone to breakouts like me, I highly recommend giving this product a try. Plus, although this is expensive, you don't need very much to do your whole face--probably 1 to 2 pumps. (I also don't use this every day--mostly for going out and special occasions.)The color match is great for me also. I am very pale (I wear the lightest shade in most brands e.g. BareMinerals, Laura Mercier, Tarte, etc.) and shade Ivory 010 is a good fit. It could be maybe a *tiny* bit lighter to match me perfectly, but it's not noticeable. As for the finish, this foundation looks natural with a slightly dewy finish. It also looks amazing in photos. It blends very easy and is buildable. I have some marks from healing blemishes and I usually don't use concealer on them, just pat a bit of this on top and it hides them well enough. Another great thing about this foundation is that it is lightweight. It never feels (or looks) masklike--actually it feels like I'm not wearing makeup at all. I have normal to combination skin, and while I don't find this foundation to be drying, I do recommend applying moisturizer first. One thing I should note is that I find this product does best when applied with the fingers. Normally I would use a sponge like the BeautyBlender, but the result was a bit cakey and not as natural-looking. So if you are someone who prefers sponges or brushes, this may be a con for you, but since I don't mind using my fingers, it's not an issue for me, and it also makes for quick and easy application. « less

I have rosacea and I LOVE Diorskin Nude!

I have NW20 skin (Cameo 022 in Diorskin) with mild rosacea. When I'm not on birth control, or when my diet gets bad, my skin will flush and burn. Diorskin Nude gives me a beautiful, hydrated, glowing look with perfect coverage every time! It's completely buildable; I can put on a thin layer all over my skin, then add an extra layer to my cheeks as "insurance" if I flush/am having a bad skin day, and my face looks flawless! It really matches the relatively nice skin on my nose, chin, and forehead; it's MSBB (My Skin But Better!). I own the Sephora Airbrush #56, which is lovely for applying any foundation. I do find that I get even better coverage when I use my fingers, but that may have more to do with my brush skills than anything else. I also have to say that the bottle is exquisite; it's heavy and well-designed, and the pump has given me no issues whatsoever. You honestly don't need very much product to cover your face; one to two pumps should be plenty, but of course you can build as necessary. So while Diorskin Nude is one of the more expensive foundations out there, a bottle should last you a very long time even with daily usage. And don't forget, you do get what you pay for! In this instance, you're getting a high quality product that won't clog your pores, irritate your skin, or make you look like a pumpkin! Yes, the color does change ever so slightly after a few minutes, but it absolutely does not turn orange or yellow. It just seems to blend into your skin, and it matches my neck pretty much perfectly. I had previously been wearing Sephora's Hydrating and Smoothing Foundation, which was terrible; it oxidized at random times, and did nothing for my dry skin. When Diorskin Nude arrived at my house on a Friday afternoon, I washed my makeup off and re-did my entire face before I went out for drinks with a friend who had seen me earlier. Her first comment to me was, "Whoa, your skin is glowing! It looks SO smooth! What did you do differently tonight?" In the past few weeks, I have received multiple comments about how "flawless" "beautiful" "smooth" and "pretty" my face is. I am told by strangers and people who haven't seen me in a long time that I have "wonderful skin," and they're always amazed to learn I have rosacea; some of them don't even believe it! I now feel comfortable wearing just this foundation and minimal to no eye makeup to grad school classes/to run errands as needed. I feel when my skin looks perfect, I don't "need" much else on my face if I don't want to or don't have the time! I highly recommend going to Sephora and getting a proper match, having an SA do your makeup, then go home/out and get reactions from people you trust. I do have to caution that sometimes an SA can get it wrong. As mentioned, I do wear Cameo, but initially my lovely SA matched me to Ivory. I came home and was asked by a family member if I was feeling okay; Ivory washed me out and made me too pale! Looking at more swatches online made me realize that Cameo is virtually the same color as Ivory, but with a touch more pink/color, so that's how I knew it was the right shade for me. So remember, getting swatched is often the first, if not only step to finding a match, but don't be afraid to take your time and explore other shade options! I do owe my Sephora SA a huge thank you; I originally came in wanting to try Lancome's Teint Miracle, but she showed me Diorskin first, and I never looked back! I also found out that Teint Miracle can smell like alcohol when it makes contact with your skin; I'm so grateful she steered me in the right direction (even if the Dior is more expensive).

Not impressed

I love the Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer, so I wanted to try out the Dior Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Makeup especially since it has received such positive reviews. Fortunately, a saleswoman gave me a generous sample so I was able to wear it under a variety of conditions with and without a primer several times. I usually use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer which I love and still use, but I thought it might be nice to have something with a little more coverage from time to time. What I like about LM's tinted moisturizers is they really melt into the skin and look so dewy and natural. I was hoping to find a foundation with similar qualities. As a point of reference I have combination skin, some freckles and sunspots, some fine lines around my eyes, and I like my foundation to be hydrating or a little moisturizing and really sink into my skin instead of sit on top of it and look dry or unnatural. After using the entire generous sample, I will not buy this product and will continue my search because... This product did NOT: - give me any "natural glow" whatsoever - melt into my skin or look "nude" - hydrate or moisturize - did not leave a fresh, dewy look This product DID: - provide medium coverage - even out skin tone (like any foundation does) - have a light scent that faded after application - did work with and without a primer Very mediocre product. Will not be buying or recommending this product to friends or family. « less

Convert to the cult of Diorskin Nude

An amazing foundation. I used Bare Escentuals for years simply because of how quick and easy it was but finally decided to look for something new because it really wasn't doing much for me. I tried many different foundations and kept coming back to Diorskin Nude.I have received many compliments on my complexion since starting to wear this. I have found that this looks best applied with my Sonja Kashuk Flat Top Brush but I've also used a Kabuki Brush, Skunk Brush and my fingers to apply it and really there's no wrong way, they've all looked good. I find it takes about 3-4 pumps to cover my face/neck.The coverage is medium but looks deceptively sheer. It covers all my discoloration from old breakouts. The only thing it doesn't cover is any current breakout that might be particularly deeply colored. Sometimes I'll just use a concealer brush to build the foundation on those areas instead of concealer and it works well. This foundation gives me a very natural glowing look. The finish is dewey but that almost makes it sound too oily/wet. It's really more of a hydrated glow. I've never had it look cakey (which is something that happens easily to me). It also feels wonderful on my skin. I don't think I've ever noticed it and it's certainly never felt mask-like.It also wears well. By the end of my work day (8-10 hours) it still looks good, hasn't settled into lines or pores. Finally, I think it has the best color range of any line, including MAC. Even though at times I have more yellow undertones, they are pretty minor and most yellow tone foundations are WAY too yellow for me. I wear this in 020; the inclusion of more neutral colors in this line is a HUGE plus for me. In the summer, when I tan and my yellow undertones come out more, I can continue to use the same foundation formula but just switch to 021 or 030 depending on the tan. I also find the numbering system incredible easy to understand and work with. For exampleends in 0 = neutral (e.g. 010, 020, 030, 040)ends in 1 = yellow undertones (e.g. 021, 031, 041)ends in 2 = pink undertones (e.g. 022, 032, 042)ends in 3 = peach undertones (e.g. 023, 033, 043)As the formula gets darker, the first number gets higher, so for example, someone with a yellow might move between 021 and 031 in Diorskin Nude, although their match will always end in 1 because of thier undertone. As for the packaging, I know they recalled the pump dispensers because they were clogging. I got mine right after the new pump dispensers hit the stores and haven't had any problem with that at all. The only thing that bothers me is the cap on the packaging. Maybe I'm just dumb but it seems like every morning I try and click it back on the wrong way! The bottle is a rectangle, not a square, but I keep trying to put it on like it's a square, haha. Whatever, not a big deal, probably my own fault, I just can't seem to stop doing it. I just seems like it should be square or something.Anyway, I'm a total convert to the cult of Diorskin Nude. If you can't tell, I think you should buy this foundation. « less

Smooth and flawless

I first off need to state I have combination skin, and was highly skeptical about having a "hydrating" foundation due to the oily factor of some of my skin. I have tried many foundations which promise to mattify or control the oil/sebum production throughout the day, with no success. When I was in Sephora recently I had informed them of the above and gravitated towards this foundation as its over 40% water, no oil, and it's a mineral foundation so it shouldn't cause any breakouts or strange reactions to the skin. I had remembered in the past that I had actually used this foundation and I ended up using the whole bottle up (for me that's rare to do). With using this foundation I've actually found the clarity, smoothness and overall health of my skin has actually improved. I found this foundation to be very light on the skin with light to medium coverage, without ever making me feel oily (I do use a setting powder which probably does help with any oil after applying the foundation). I find it lasts a very long time throughout the day, but obviously if you start sweating (working out), it won't stay, which is quite normal with any foundations. I'm #20, and I have fair skin with a golden undertone (the #21 I found was very, very, gold..almost yellow, so take that into consideration if you're considering #21) I do remember in the past a problem with the pump acting up and not allowing the product to actually come out, but it seems as though they've fixed this issue. When I run out of this, I do plan on buying another one...I need to stop straying from items I know that work for my skin, lol. « less
