Not as expected

I tried this cleanser after having a bad experience with the clearing wash but I decided to give the products a second chance and try this cleanser instead. Unfortunately I had the same experience with this cleanser as I did with the clearing wash. This caused me to get really red patches on my face that eventually became super dry and then would peel pretty bad, as if I had a bad sunburn. I moisturize a couple times throughout the day so it was not just dry skin. On top of that this cleanser caused me to get cystic acne, I broke out in places on my face where I never have breakouts and it caused tons of big blackheads to appear all over my face. I was excited to try this product because I have sensitive skin but it turns out it was harsh on my skin. I stopped this product about a week and a half ago and now my face is almost completely cleared from the harm it caused and the red patches of dry skin are healed. Less

The best cleanser for sensitive skin

In my opinion, if you want a really good quality product for sensitive skin, then this product is for you. I never realised how good a cleanser could work until I purchased this product. Honestly, just amazing. I have extremely red and sensitive skin prone to dryness and this product is amazing. It soothes and hydrates my skin, it doesn't irritate, it feels like it is working in conjunction with my skin to combat sensitive and build up a tolerance. It's great for clearing up the skin, it's not harsh and a little goes a long way.If you have sensitive skin and are willing to put forward the money, do not think to try anything until you've tried this.

Adios Proactive!

I'm telling you ladies, this is the best for sensitive skin types since Cetaphil. This product is better though because for me, it treats hormonal acne, stress breakouts, blemishes, redness and inflammation, dryness, and periodic auto immune disease related excess oil. I have an illness that causes a lot of skin problems for me. I used to be a believer in Proactiv until it turned on me in less than a year. It just stopped working, and I realized how much it was drying out my skin, making it more sensitive, and actually causing wrinkles. I'm 27, don't drink, use tobacco, or do any drugs. So, yeah, it really did that to my face :( This hasn't happened with Dermalogica. The Ultra Calming cleanser is so calming, so easy to use, it feels great going on, and is very easily removed. This is great especially for women on the go. Anytime my face is going berzerk, I can count on it making me feel better. I can leave the house feeling, clean, beautiful and confident. I've always had a problem with products either over drying my skin or making it excessively oily. This does not do that.To the girl who said it clogged her cheek pores--you do need to exfoliate or wear a facial masque to clean out your pores every so often. You can't just put product on your face over and over again and not expect it to clog your pores at some point. That's just nature. It doesn't matter how natural it is. It will happen eventually :) Also, don't spray the hydrating mist on your face excessively. Remember, less is more.I know everyone says it, but I really do have the most sensitive skin on the planet. For so long, Cetaphil was the only thing I could use; even that backfired at times. I have so many food allergies, hormonal, etc. issues. I'm just really, really glad that I found Dermalogica. It even helps when I get the once a month cystic acne breakouts during my menstrual cycle. I may have a couple blemishes on my face, but they aren't NEARLY as red so I can cover them up before leaving the house.I really do hope it continues to work for me for many years to come. I'm going to recommend it to all of my friends in the modeling industry as well as in my autoimmune disease support groups. Thanks Dermalogica!!!! « less

Excellent choice for sensitive skin

If you hate that feeling of taut angry skin after cleansing, then this is the stuff for you. If you want to dry every pore until it's crying for just one drop of water to replenish, it's not. Designed for dry sensitive types (like me), this super gentle cream cleanser takes away all your troubles. I like the smell (i think it's like a light earthy smell), and unlike most cream cleansers, i don't feel like i've washed my face with moisturizer. If you want to, it can be used as a makeup remover as well. you don't need water to remove it, and it's gentle enough for the delicate eye area. Talk about multi-purpose. I'm definitely a minimalist for skin care (cleanse, moisturize, go without looking in the mirror to check), and don't believe anti-aging hype, but i do believe that moisturizing is the way to keep your skin younger looking longer. This fits the bill for me. I wish they sold stuff like this at the drug store.... « less

Expensive but worth it

Okay, so Dermalogica may cost more than other products, but in my experience, it's been worth it. I have freakish skin that is both dry and oily at the same time--so, if I use products for oily skin, my skin starts to burn (well, not literally, but it feels like it's burning!) and flake off, but if I use products for dry skin, I break out like crazy. What's a girl to do?!That said, I really like this cleaner. It smells nice--not perfumey, not quite medicinal, just pleasant. My skin feels really smooth and clean after rinsing it off--there's no residue left behind, as some cleansers for sensitive skin tend to have. The biggest test for any cleaner, for me, is how my skin feels when it dries off--does it feel tight and painful? Or does it feel greasy? Dermalogica doesn't cause either reaction--instead, my skin just feels normal. I moisturize, put on make-up, and I'm ready to conquer the world. Less

I like it but you have to find the product that works for you before you buy the whole product because they are pretty expensive. I would go to Ulta and get a free facial and ask for them to use dermalogica on your skin and see what works and feels good. But also ask for samples of the products. If you get the right products they will do wonders for your skin.
