the residue that i find in my hair from the cover fx high performance spray is less than the film that the ben nye final seal leaves in my hair (that feels like dried hairspray, it also locks my hair down with my make-up) but the other setting sprays (cover fx illuminating, mattifying, glamglow glowsetter and skindinavia oil control) do not leave any residue in my hair that i can see in the mirror or feel with my fingers

i've tried this product over 2 different primers: the dior pore minimising mattifying primer and the deciem hylamide matte 12 primer, as well as over 3 different foundations: the tarte amazonian clay foundation set with the laura mercier translucent powder on a damp rt sponge, the kvd powder foundation, and the nyx stay matte powder foundation, and i found it made a difference in the oil control and the lasting power of my makeup with all of them, compared to not using it

i spray it quite far and it's fine, it dries really quick, and keeps me matte all night long

Not for combination skin!

I have combination skin, but I wanted a spray that would hydrate the dryer areas of my face and take away the powdery look. The mist is really fine which I liked, but right after I sprayed I noticed that there were large dots of the spray that never seemed to dry completely down. At first, it did make my skin look so hydrated and dewy and healthy which I loved. As the day went on my under eye concealer creased so bad and I started to look really greasy and my foundation looked really bad at the end of the night. My eyes also felt irritated all day and I think it's because some of the spray may have gotten in my eyes. If you have very dry skin you will probably love this but for people with combination or oily skin I would stay far away from this one!

For My Combination/Oily Ladies & Gents!

So I was really apprehensive at first about buying this setting spray because I've been locked in and loyal to Makeup Forever's Mist & Fix for almost 2 years now (Full Disclaimer: I still am and will never NOT use that setting spray, its the best on the market in my opinion and also Alcohol-Free!) but Oh. My. Makeup. Gods. This setting spray is stunning. Please Please Please, I beg of those who have oily or combination skin to not just exempt this setting spray because you see all of the reviews of those who have dry skin use this and love it. This setting spray is not JUST for dry skin types it works for ALL skin types! The best part of this spray to me is that it is an ACTUAL setting spray that truly locks in your makeup allowing it to last, seriously, all day. Now for the "glitter" everyone keeps mentioning...(it's not glitter everyone) it's the finest specs of mica that you can only see if you were at your vanity looking very close up at yourself. So don't let the exaggeraters sway you there either and it does not give a dewy finish at all, it gives just this beautiful luminous finish you would have to experience yourself to know what I am talking about. And I think it is worth mentioning, I am a woman of color (I am NC45 for reference) and I really don't think this can look bad on any complexion so I think complexions lighter and darker are cleared to use this for sure. Overall in my opinion I think it transforms any makeup look into an expensive look because you literally glow from within. Also I love packaging and I have to say I LOVE this packaging. When I first looked at the pictures of this I was like eh, it's just a white plastic bottle... but no it's a sleek, iridescent, well made bottle with a spray nozzle that just makes this product more luxurious and spa-like with a gentle mist that evenly coats the face. So If (or when) you decide to go with this product you will without question NEED to shake well before each and every use and when using it, keep in mind it's like buildable glam if you want something subtle do a few mists onto the face if you want to actually sparkle go ham with the mist all over your face either way it's simply gorgeous. Perfect for brides, any special occasion, or anyone who just wants to glow everyday! I know this review was quite long but I hope this review can help people further understand and accurately decide for themselves if this is a product for them.Side note: If Cover FX ever make this illuminating setting spray in a Gold version it is GAME OVER. « less

Before this I thought setting sprays were placebos

This stuff is the real deal. I have oily-combo skin (much more oily at this time of year) and after seeing numerous positive reviews on this product I thought I'd give setting sprays one final try.In the past I've tried the Urban Decay All Nighter, Wet n Wild Photofocus, Essence Make it Last, and Ben Nye Final Seal setting sprays. While Ben Nye certainly held everything in place it did nothing for oil control (it never said it would but a girl can hope) and the other 3 didn't make a darn bit of difference on my oily skin. At this point I figured any results from setting sprays were just placebo effects. So when testing out this product I tried it a number of different ways to make sure I was actually seeing the results of the setting spray and not just the combo of other products I was using. I've tried this product over 2 different primers: the Dior Pore Minimising Mattifying primer and the Deciem Hylamide Matte 12 primer, as well as over 3 different foundations: the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation set with the Laura Mercier translucent powder on a damp RT sponge, the KVD powder foundation, and the NYX Stay Matte powder foundation, and I found it made a difference in the oil control and the lasting power of my makeup with all of them, compared to not using it.As a final test I tried one day using just primer with powder foundation and no setting spray, as well as one day using my primer with no foundation or powder, just topped with the setting spray. This confirmed to me that the setting spray was actually doing something. Hallelujah! On the day without setting spray but with powder foundation, I noticed I was getting hella shiny after about 3-4 hours (the norm for me), but on the day where I skipped any sort of powder or foundation but used the setting spray just over primer, it was about 6 hours before I started to even look slightly shiny, perhaps even ‘glowy’, and even then there wasn't much oil residue on my face (normally I'd use up an entire blotting sheet or two by this point). Needless to say, I was impressed. My only con about this product is the nozzle, as other reviewers have mentioned. It doesn’t give a very even mist and I found I was getting more product on my arms than my face. So I recommend decanting it into another spray bottle if you have one, or what I like to do instead is I spray the flat side of my RT sponge (or you could use a BB) and then dab it on my face where I need the oil control. I also find this prevents the spray from smudging my mascara or drying out my lips. « less

I definitely recommend this High Performance setting spray. I will compare it to a few setting sprays below in case anyone is wondering if there are any differences.I use and own both the Cover FX Illuminating and Mattifying Sprays as well as the GlamGlow Glowsetter Spray, Skindinavia Oil Control Spray and Ben Nye Final Seal spray but have mostly used the Glowsetter the past few months (because the Glowsetter does not contain alcohol and the finish is in between the Cover FX Illuminating and Mattifying sprays).I feel the new Cover FX High Performance Spray works as well if not better than the heavy duty Skindinavia Oil Control for really extending foundation and other make-up (Skindinavia is the same company that makes the All Nighter Setting Spray for Urban Decay) but there are a few differences. My make-up seems to look nicer with the Cover FX High Performance Spray vs. the Skindinavia Oil Control but they are both great at ultra-long wear -- longer wear than the other sprays I listed above. The Cover FX High Performance spray does not contain any alcohol which is a huge plus for me but it does leave residue in my hair and the finish is a bit glossy on the skin. The residue that I find in my hair from the Cover FX High Performance Spray is less than the film that the Ben Nye Final Seal leaves in my hair (that feels like dried hairspray, it also locks my hair down with my make-up) but the other setting sprays (Cover FX Illuminating, Mattifying, GlamGlow Glowsetter and Skindinavia Oil Control) do not leave any residue in my hair that I can see in the mirror or feel with my fingers.I do not use any powder or primers because I prefer the Korean dewy, hydrated look but I don't want that to turn greasy or break apart my foundation, so that is why I purchased the High Performance Spray. It does deliver and keep everything totally locked down but without any alcohol. I am willing to live with the light residue/film that it leaves in my hair. « less

Hey guys, I need your help!!! I’ve always had a oily face but this time it’s out of control. Around my T zone, i guess my foundation starts separating or idk if that’s what it should be called but my pores literally poke out and you can see little circles around that area. I’ve never had this happened until recently. I use the Millani Conceal + Perfect. I don’t use primer and I know you’re not supposed to put any primer around your nose because the foundation will move around so primer isn’t an option. Please help a girl out 🥺🥺🥺
