This stuff is the real deal. I have oily-combo skin (much more oily at this time of year) and after seeing numerous positive reviews on this product I thought I'd give setting sprays one final try.In the past I've tried the Urban Decay All Nighter, Wet n Wild Photofocus, Essence Make it Last, and Ben Nye Final Seal setting sprays. While Ben Nye certainly held everything in place it did nothing for oil control (it never said it would but a girl can hope) and the other 3 didn't make a darn bit of difference on my oily skin. At this point I figured any results from setting sprays were just placebo effects. So when testing out this product I tried it a number of different ways to make sure I was actually seeing the results of the setting spray and not just the combo of other products I was using. I've tried this product over 2 different primers: the Dior Pore Minimising Mattifying primer and the Deciem Hylamide Matte 12 primer, as well as over 3 different foundations: the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation set with the Laura Mercier translucent powder on a damp RT sponge, the KVD powder foundation, and the NYX Stay Matte powder foundation, and I found it made a difference in the oil control and the lasting power of my makeup with all of them, compared to not using it.As a final test I tried one day using just primer with powder foundation and no setting spray, as well as one day using my primer with no foundation or powder, just topped with the setting spray. This confirmed to me that the setting spray was actually doing something. Hallelujah! On the day without setting spray but with powder foundation, I noticed I was getting hella shiny after about 3-4 hours (the norm for me), but on the day where I skipped any sort of powder or foundation but used the setting spray just over primer, it was about 6 hours before I started to even look slightly shiny, perhaps even ‘glowy’, and even then there wasn't much oil residue on my face (normally I'd use up an entire blotting sheet or two by this point). Needless to say, I was impressed. My only con about this product is the nozzle, as other reviewers have mentioned. It doesn’t give a very even mist and I found I was getting more product on my arms than my face. So I recommend decanting it into another spray bottle if you have one, or what I like to do instead is I spray the flat side of my RT sponge (or you could use a BB) and then dab it on my face where I need the oil control. I also find this prevents the spray from smudging my mascara or drying out my lips. « less
