It really works

I bought this powder for my upcoming cruise. It really keeps your face from getting oily, and lasts all day. The coverage is sheer but buildable, and conceals some redness and pores. I use a fluffy kabuki brush for it, and it applies like a dream. Since I want my makeup to be lightweight on vacation, I'm only wearing this with a primer underneath. I recommend using primer or moisturizer underneath, to prevent dry patches or caking. If you have acne and need extra coverage, this product is also a good setting powder over foundation. I should also mention that I have super fair skin (2Y01 Color IQ), and the stay buff shade is actually light enough for me. All in all, this is a great and inexpensive powder from Clinique.

Disappointed

I have skin that's very, very oily (especially in the summer) and prone to frequent breakouts. So after trying almost every other pressed powder I tried the "sheer-matte" for a year, it's better than the others but I still wasn't too impressed. It does provide a nice matte finish and does absorb shine nicely but only for about the first hour of wearing it (at least for me) and so I needed to keep reapplying it frequently throughout the day which only added to my acne problem because 10 layers of powder obviously isn't good. It also rubs off easily on everything, but I'm sure my oily skin contributes to that problem. I thought I was going to end up applying makeup 10 times a day forever...and thats when I found and tried the "Clarifying Poweder Makeup" and I loved it! It cleared up my acne completely, prevented oily shine, didn't rub off, and stayed looking good all day! But now that I need to reorder it, I've discovered its been discontinued, and I will have to settle with applying the "Sheer Matte Powder" 10 times a day again :( Please bring back the Clarifying Powder!! « less

Mattefying without cakeyness

I absolutely LOVE this pressed powder. I wear Clinique's Super balanced liquid foundation and use this pressed powder to set the foundation. I have oily-combination skin (mostly oily) and applying this to set my foundation definitely gives my face a matte finish without making it cakey. I've tried several other pressed powders and they all seem to make my face cakey and dry looking, even though I have oily skin. I use it throughout the day when my face builds up oil and it works great. As for coverage, I can't tell you because I only use it for oil control!

Perfect setting powder

This powder goes so nicely over my super balanced foundation, my concealer, and my cream blush. It doesn't have too much color, but it does have just enough to even anything out that might not perfectly blended, and it keeps your makeup from falling into fine lines (which we know can happen to anybody). The powder has definitely helped my face makeup stay in place practically all day. I have very dry skin, yet this powder doesn't exaggerate that at all. It just makes my skin look smooth and soft, and feel like a nice soft blanket. If you need a powder with just a hint of color, and isn't heavy, this is for you.

Invisible, lightweight, great for setting make-up

The Clinique Stay-Matte Universal Blotting Powder works perfectly for setting make-up for my combination skin. It's indeed a little more firmly pressed in the pan, but I only had issues with picking it up with very soft brushes; most of my powder brushes are synthetic ones, slightly dense packed and all worked well with the powder. But this powder works best for pressing it with a brush, not dusting as you do with a loose powder. I rarely used it for blotting, but the sponge applicator works decently well. When touching up I recommend using a blotting paper first, than the powder, it helps more to not look cakey or disrupt makeup. When using the sponge I got some make-up transferred to the pan, but once I use a brush a couple of times those areas are 'cleaned'. I have combination skin (maybe I get a little oily after 6-7 hours) and the powder helps me control shine, but I don't know how much it would help very oily skin. I also have large pores, the powder has some blurring effects, but not life changing. While the powder is white, it doesn't yield an white or ashy cast on me (light-medium yellow warm undertone). The packaging is slim and very practical, I actually kept it as a pocket mirror after I used up the product. Less

Can anyone give me tips on making my under eye concealer not crease? I’ve tried using different concealers, but I have really deep creases under my eyes and am unsure how to prevent my concealer from creasing there. I’ve tried using setting powder but no luck. Help!

This is the best! Get it in the color “translucent” and apply with the sponge it comes with. https://m.clinique.com/product/1607/6069/makeup/powders/stay-matte-sheer-pressed-powder?shade=Invisible_Matte

i’m not very good at eyeliner, what’s an easy one to apply that won’t get everywhere when you blink?

It helps if u use a “translucent” powder on ur eyelids and base of eyelid before applying eyeliner. I also love to use Clinique’s eye shadow with a thin brush as eyeliner. Gives a softer look and doesn’t smudge when u blink or in humidity.
