I normally have combination or oily skin but after a bout of breakouts, I ended up being put on Retin-A and some other topical acne medications. My skin ended up getting really dry in patches and oily in others and just generally stressed from all the different things that I was applying to try to get my skin to stop breaking out. I realized that I probably just needed to find a very good soothing night cream because in the past, that was how I got my skin to calm down and start acting "normal" again.I rummaged though my massive pile of samples and found this and after one use, I ordered the full size online. I've been using it every night ever since. When you put this on, it does feel kind of heavy and doesn't really absorb all the way into the skin so I wouldn't recommend it for someone who has oilier skin during the daytime. I imagine the residue feeling wouldn't be an issue for those who actually have dry or very dry skin like the actual target audience for the cream. I like that it is a cream-gel so even though it doesn't absorb completely into the skin, it doesn't really have that heavy feeling after you apply it. It feels more like a thin layer of protection.I love the way my skin feels in the morning after I use this. I do still feel the residue but that just makes me feel like my skin was protected for the entire night instead of disappearing onto my pillow or evaporating overnight. After I wash my face, even before I put on my day moisturizer, my skin looks smooth and glowing. I feel like keeping my skin so moisturized helped any scars from acne fade faster. It doesn't really have a scent besides a slightly chemical scent but it's not anything that I notice besides when I'm applying it.I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good moisturizing night cream or someone who has very dry skin for an all the time cream. I will be keeping this in my permanent skincare routine for as long as they make this. « less

My accutane/dry skin SAVIOR!

I am currently on my second course of accutane (for those of you who don't know what that is it's a very intense drug for acne that essentially stops all oil production from your body and makes your skin crazy dry and painful) It's also worth noting that I'm taking it during the winter when my skin is extra dry + I've always had very dry skin my entire life no matter what. I've tried COUNTLESS moisturizers, drugstore and high end (even ones costing more than this) desperately trying to find anything that made a noticeable difference. Some other products came close but always pilled up and left a gross texture on my skin all day so I'd have to take it off before applying makeup, not this one. This is genuinely the BEST moisturizer I have ever tried. Not only is it the most moisturizing and long lasting, it also leaves my skin feeling so soft and looking a lot less dull for several hours without pilling up under my makeup. It's a miracle. It may be a bit heavy for some, if so apply it at night and wake up with the perfect amount of moisture without feeling suffocated. I genuinely could not recommend this product enough, I wish I would have known about it not only the first time I went on accutane but also just my entire life with dry, dull skin. My skin has stopped peeling and having dry rough spots since using this, which is an actual miracle for an accutane user since my skin was constantly so dry it peeled the first time I was on the medication before I discovered this product. I'm SO thankful and urge anyone with dry skin to try this product!! I've tried their other moisture surge moisturizer as well and do think it's amazing and will use it during the day sometimes or on my neck, but if you have dry skin not combination or just want extra moisture definitely get this one, the intense version, not the other. A little goes a long way and I'll be purchasing a second jar before this one runs out just to make sure I never have to go without it. 100% worth the price.

I absolutely love this product by Clinique! This moisturizer has dramatically improved my dry/sensitive skin! I have noticed that it is very good with evening out your skin town if you have redness as well. Completely worth the price tag.

Amazing for acne-prone, combination skin!

I have super sensitive, combination skin that gets very dry yet oily at the same time, and will breakout at the mere mention of any type of oils. I've struggled to find a moisturizer that would cater to my seriously bipolar skin; although I need a lot of hydration, most hydrating skin creams contain a TON of oils and cause me to breakout with cystic acne like crazy. When I first heard that this cream was super hydrating yet oil-free, I was intrigued. My face was dry, inflamed, and breaking out after reacting to another skincare product, so I needed something to calm my skin down fast. After one day of using Moisture Surge Intense, my redness and irritation reduced considerably, and the existing breakouts began to shrink and heal. After 3 days of use, my skin is soft and supple, calm, and breakout free! My skin hasn't felt this great since I was a kid! In addition, because my skin has been so well hydrated, my face has been much less oily during the day! And I have only been using this as my night cream, while using my normal moisturizer during the day! The texture is so thick and luxurious, I'd say that it's really better suited for nighttime use. However, I'm sure there are some super dry and flaky skin ladies out there who would want to use it for both day and night. After having so much bad luck with products over the years, I am always very skeptical of so-called "miracle" products, but I can honestly say that I am in LOVE with this moisturizer! If you have sensitive, combination, or acne-prone skin, you MUST try this stuff!! « less

Heavy cream moisturiser

I usually use the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst moisturiser but I purchased this Intense one by accident last week. I decided to give it a go anyway and am already regretting the decision! It left my skin feeling greasy and almost tacky. I thought maybe I applied too much the first time so I used it sparingly the next day. Same result, it was heavy and didn't feel hydrating all all, just greasy. Now today I've broken out with pimples all around my chin area which has never happened before. I have dry to normal skin and have never had acne so I'm sure this product is to blame. Not happy at all with this product and I would recommend the Extended Thirst moisturiser over this one.

I would recommend you use a gel based moisturizer. Clinique moisture surge is really good for sensitive skin and is also light weight but really hydrating.
