using the clarifying lotion (in the winter i use type 1) afterwards removes any feelings of oily-ness left by the cleanser and makes my skin feel silky smooth, even before i use the dramatically different lotion

This is one of my favorite cleansing gels. The tube for the pump doesn’t really reach to pull out all of the product. A LOT of packaging for just 6.5 ounces of gel.

I first started using this product when I was 15 because I started to break out and my mom always told me Clinique made the best skin care products (totally true by the way). I grew up in Vegas so at that time my skin was super dry, so I started using this along with the toner and the dramatically different lotion and it cleared my skin so beautifully! I eventually stopped using it because my skin had cleared up and then when I was 18 i moved to NYC and had the WORST break out of my life! My face was completely covered in big sore red pimples and ppl would always stare at me and comment about it. I tried everything to clear my skin up (including every face wash except for this one because I seemed to have forgot about it) and it only got worse so I saw a dermatologist and he tried to put me on accutane but I told him no. He told me that my acne was caused from me washing my face too much and that my skin was too sensitive for soaps so I stopped washing my face and what do you know, it cleared up. I suffer from dark spots and minor scarring now but I just switched back to using this face wash along with the moisturizer because I just feel like my face is so dirty from living in the city and it's cleared my skin up even more!! I highly recommend this face wash along with the dramatically different moisturizer. They work well with all skin types in my opinion, going from having dry skin in Las Vegas to now oily/combination skin on the east coast. Less

Sometimes simple is best

In a world of expensive and exhausting beauty routines, Clinique stands out from the crowd by offering simple and affordable skin care. But, best of all, their products really work. I was a die-hard facial soap mild and extra mild bar soap user, but have switched over to the liquid form. I have very dry skin, but I use the mild vs. extra mild liquid soap as I found the later to be like washing my face in moisturizing cream. It neither removed my make-up nor did it cleanse my skin effectively. But, the mild version does both beautifully. It's a cinch to use as you simply wet your face, press down on the dispenser (one pump generally gives you the perfect amount), rub lightly into your skin, and rinse well. You will be left with clean skin ready for exfoliating (I use an amino acid gel) and moisturizing (Clinique Moisture Surge Intense is my pick here). Even if you have oily or combination skin, I would suggest moisturizing as this can leave your skin feeling a little tight. The bottle lasts a long time and is well-designed to allow you to dispense almost every last drop. As with all Clinique products, this is fragrance-free. So, while you won't experience a waft of euphoric bliss, neither will you risk having a reaction due to added perfumes. While this may not be the most beautiful or exciting product on your bathroom vanity, it does its job and delivers clean skin. And, proper cleansing is really the foundation upon what good skin care is built. Simple. Less

This is the BEST soap I have ever used

I honestly mean this when I say that this is, in my opinion, the best soap I have ever used. I have very sensitive skin. And I mean VERY sensitive. I have tried so many "mild" soaps with big claims that they are "guaranteed" to be kind to the skin, fragrance free, for sensitive skin...bla bla bla. From low budget to big budget soaps, I have tried most of them. And even with all their big claims of being kind to sensitive skin, my skin always ends up red, inflamed, stingy and in a great deal of pain for 1-2 hours after washing. I can't even use the children's brand of soaps and moisturisers because they irritate my skin so badly. I won't mention any Company names here but, let's just say the Company that provides products that are meant to be gentle enough for babies and claim "no more tears" certainly had me very close to tears when I tried their products on my face! My poor face felt and looked like it was on fire. So I happened to receive this soap as a sample and as soon as I tried it, I was amazed to see that my skin was not only spotlessly clean and radiant but I was in NO pain, my skin was not red or inflamed at all. I couldn't believe it. Finally! I soap I could use and that not only didn't irritate my skin but actually thoroughly cleaned my face and left it feeling cleansed, smooth and hydrated. No tight skin or oily residue left behind. My skin didn't feel dried out after using it. It just felt beautiful for the first time ever. This is honestly the first soap I have had success with. Any others I tried either gave me the above mentioned problems, and if they didn't, they left my skin either very tight and dry or overly oily and slick. I know it probably sounds silly, but you have no idea how good it feels to finally find a soap I can use on my face that doesn't have any drawbacks. I nearly cried with joy! Thank you Clinique. :) Less

Wouldn't use any other cleanser

I have dehydrated hormonal skin. This winter I struggled to find a moisturizer that could keep up with the dryness. I was layering two to three products on every day, still having to reapply throughout the day because my skin felt tight and uncomfortable.I went to Beautypedia to find a perfect moisturizer because I was going crazy trying to find one that worked. After reading I realized it may not be my moisturizer. It may be my entire routine that was the problem. Typically a budget shopper, I realized I was perhaps depriving my skin of the nutrients it needed. I decided to cut back to basics, beginning with a new cleanser.I bought this cleanser (for dry to very dry skin). It was a leap for me as far as price. But I am so glad I did!I followed the instructions and removed most of my makeup first with my makeup remover. Then I massaged this cleanser it into my skin gently, allowing it to sit for a while to break apart all the sunscreen and extra makeup still on my face. I wiped it clean with a warm wet washcloth, careful to rinse thoroughly. My skin felt so smooth, soft and clean!But....It felt uncomfortably dry (as other posters have commented). I was disappointed. I woke up in the morning and my face felt tight and uncomfortable. However, I spent so much money on it and I know that nothing happens over night. Sometimes you have to be patient with skin care. As I didn't notice any new breakouts, rashes, or red spots (in fact my pores appeared smaller and fine lines on my forehead had disappeared) . I decided to keep trying it for a week.By day two my skin felt less dry after use.By day three I needed less moisturizer.By day five my skin felt hydrated and comfortable ALL DAY.Changing to this cleanser has eliminated three steps (and products) from my routine. I'm not sure I can trust my skin to any other product. It's worth the money for me. « less

Heyo! Been trying to find a pretty solid face wash for my dry skin. No matter how many washes I’ve gotten, I always get dry around the nose and mouth ten minutes after. Yes I moisturize. But I’d like to find something good to where I have to rush to put moisturizer on and when I do make up it won’t show up. Thanks for the future advice!

I have sensitive skin and very dry and dehydrated. When I shower I notice my skin is super tight and dry and itchy. I have tried a lot of new moisturizers and cleansers but nothing seems to help or make a lot of difference. Any advice or suggestions please 💕

I’ve been using this in the extra mild formula for about a month and it doesn’t make my skin feel tight at all. It’s a cream consistency that doesn’t foam but it makes my skin feel really clean and soft. Also, The Ordinary’s HA Moisturizer is fragrance free and very hydrating.

I have tried MANY acne face washes including Murad, Dermalogica, CeraVe, Proactiv, and I’m currently using Proactiv MD. I’ve also tried getting acne facials and taking medication and putting many different topicals on my face given to me by my dermatologist. I’ve had really stubborn acne for 4 years, and it won’t go away! Is there a face wash that works for oily, acne prone skin?

It’s a little bit on the pricier side but the Clinique skincare products are amazing! I had some stubborn acne for about 4 months and I just started using it two weeks ago and I already see a huuuuge difference. The clarifying lotion is what i think really makes it work if you aren’t looking to buy the whole set.

What’s the best cleanser ? Can be high end or drugstore , I have acne prone skin! I’ve been using cetaphil but found it it’s not the best on your skin and my skin has been worse since using.

I had the same problem with Cetaphil, it gave me small bumps all over my face. I really like this cleanser, it’s a lotion type cleanser too but it’s much creamier and my face feels much cleaner without that filmy feeling residue I got from the Cetaphil. If you do want something more affordable, Innisfree’s Blueberry Cleanser and Skinfood’s Rice Cleanser are both great too and pretty decently priced on Amazon.

For a cleanser I’d try clinique’s extra mild cleanser, then the ordinary’s AHA peel once a week (for scarring), next the ordinary’s niacinamide solution for acne pigment scarring, then the ordinary’s moisturizer. And for a spot treatment, Neutrogena’s “on the spot” after moisturizing!
