Ruined an AMAZING lipstick

Before, the shade "Shy" was "your lips, but better", "I'll moisturize your lips better than a balm, darling", "swipe me on carelessly and I'll still look good" kind of lipstick. Now it's NOWHERE NEAR as moisturizing, feels slightly sticky on the lips, looks completely matte instead of having a slight non-glittery gloss to it like it did before. That means it's not forgiving and I have to baby the new formula. The color has gone from a beautiful, sheer, buildable berry, to the 90s version of berry lipstick. Oh, and the whole tube of lipstick looks bubbly and rough, instead of having the perfect smoothness a new lipstick has, so whatever the new formula is, it doesn't even look good in the tube. Nay, I do not like this. Knew I should have stocked up.

Clinique Different Lipstick

I bought Raspberry Glace for my mom a while back and she loved the rosy pop of color as well as the creamy texture and long lasting lipstick. She wanted a change in color and asked me to go back to Sephora and pick a new shade for her, preferably more subdued for an every day look. So I went looking for a shade that was rose nude, close to a "my lips but better" shade for my mom. I stumbled upon Twilight Nude, which looked very dark in the tube but swatched on my hand looked like a perfect neutral. One thing to note is that in my "purchased" products on this website, Twilight Nude comes up as "Different Lipstick" but on the packaging it comes up as "Long Last Lipstick". Anyway, I brought this lipstick home to my mom and she was skeptical when looking at the color on the tube but when she put it on she was pleasantly surprised at how neutral and not dark it was on. It has a more "sheer" formula, I would say similar to some of the NARS sheer lipsticks but with more pigment with less application. My mom loved the color and said it was going to be her new lipstick that she would keep repurchasing. The formula is very creamy and pigmented as well as long wearing. It's also a great value for its price. I would definitely recommend! « less

Almost Perfect

These would be perfect if they had a bit more staying power. But for smooth wear (they never, ever, ever dry out and bunch up on your lips), and flattering colors, you cannot beat the Different Lipsticks. Coverage is good, with enough pigment to give you a good, even color while still being slightly sheer and letting your lips show through just a little. The formula feels light on the lips and is not sticky or greasy. I've worn so many different colors in this line, but right now my favorite of the moment is Rose Aglow. Absolutely no smell or taste, which should be the norm for lipsticks if you ask me. These have been around a while and may not be the newest or most trendy, but sometimes the classics can't be improved upon.

<3 Love Clinique in "Spiced Apple" for anyday <3

Clinique's Lipsticks are wonderful. Each one is different in great formulas; So as far as staying power goes I like the 'Long Last Lip Shine by Clinique'. 'Different Lipstick' has a heavier moisturizing base than 'Lip Shine' creating a sheerer appearance. ~Spiced Apple~ is a very natural Red. I'm sure many fair skinned women would love it. This shade of Red is medium in pigment, with both a blue and light brown base. It goes on lightly, with a lot of moisture. So you control the level of Red. Spiced Apple is a light creme. No frost or Mica. A natural Red that's build-able. For me it's perfect for the office. (peach tone skin) I'd recommend this shade to anyone with fair to medium skin. It looks great on both!

A Different Grape - wearable color

I love this lipstick in A Different Grape (and I found out after buying it, so does my sister, who shares my skin tone). It's a little bright and fun, but totally wearable. It's sheer and glossy enough so that it doesn't seem heavy, like it would if this were an intensely pigmented matte. One thing worth noting is that the pigment applies relatively smoothly, which is very difficult to achieve in colors like this. Purple lipsticks are often patchy, but not so much on this one -- nice job, Clinique! Also, I'm extremely sensitive with rosacea and am allergic to many ingredients. This is one of the few lip products I have left that doesn't give me a reaction when I apply it. I read some other reviewers who mention the same thing. It's also moisturizing and buildable, like the Chubby Sticks (original). I like this formula so much I am shopping for more colors now. I would like to try some of the classics like Angel Red, Shy, and Tenderheart. If you are fair and cool like me definitely try A Different Grape, don't be afraid of the color! Less
