My New Love

As a tried and true make-up addict. I have tried SO MANY different foundations, from high end to drugstore brand. Most recently Dior, Kat von D, L'Mer, Tarte, Maybelline (which is my fav drug store one, for sure). I've tried sprays, liquid matte, dewey matte, that fun spongey foundation they've come out with recently, etc. etc. etc. I've tried a lot - and some have been great, some have been bad, but I've never found... THE ONE. My Foundation soulmate. Then I went into the Sephora in Calabasas when it wasn't busy, told the sales lady what my skin issues were (dry, aging, big pores, I like as full coverage as possible without it being costumey, and my pale skin has red spots all over hte place) and she looked like a light went on. She came back with this, and said one of her coworkers had started wearing it in the last couple of weeks, and she's had people ask her every day what she was wearing, and it looks so flawless all the other sales girls bought it and loved it, too (with the exception of people with Oily skin - this is not one for you). The applicator is totally unique - I apply it in streaks on my face and then either pound it in with the beauty blender, or use an Artis brush. It is VERY moisturizing, great coverage, does a good job of filling in lines and big pores, and you would have no idea that my skin is very red. The only two 'watch out for' statements I can make about this foundation: 1. If you're skin is very oily, this isn't for you. It's moisturizing, and especially before it dries down on me it looks oily for a bit. 2. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY. When I first applied it I used (or guessed, with this kind of new applicator) how much I would with my other foundations, and it turned out to be waaaaaay too much. Take #2 as a huge plus. Whenever people say 'a little goes along way' about a product, I find out they're nuts. You TRULY don't need as much as you would think with this, and added bonus: that means one bottle should last a long time. So I don't know if it's THE ONE for me yet -but it's THE closest I've come to. I'd say we're like, moving in together and having preliminary talks of engagement but we're not quite married yet. Highly recommend!

I bought this product because a good friend of mine recommended it and it looked just amazing on her. However, we have very different skin types. She’s super oily, and I really dry/combination skin. This foundation DID NOT work for me whatsoever. It was heavy, cakey, patchy, not smooth and it oxidized so much I was absolutely orange within an hour. If you have combo/dry skin I do not recommend this foundation, wearing multiple high end, amazing primers didn’t make a difference either. First time Clinique has let me down.

Pleasantly surprised

I’m an oily girl, so I typically reach for L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte or Estée Lauder Doublewear and set with Laura Mercier translucent powder. I can’t do primer because it always makes me break out, so it’s frustrating when my foundation breaks down around my nose and the oils shine through at the end of the day, no matter how great the foundation is.Well. I received the Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation as a free sample and tried it on one day - holy cow. For one, I really slathered it on there since I didn’t realize how thick and full coverage it was, but it blended beautifully with a sponge and really blurred out my large pores without settling into them. The finish was dewy, so I set with the Laura Mercier, put on the rest of my face, and went about my day.I checked the mirror quite a bit throughout the work day, and as usual my nose was super oily, but after blotting the makeup stayed put, which was a first for me. It still looked fresh and did not break down whatsoever, nor did it settle into my pores. Even better, my blush and contour wasn’t disappearing over time. After 5-6 hours, I looked like I had just applied my makeup. Later that evening, I had to visit the chiropractor - and even squishing my face between those cushions for 10 minutes did not ruin the makeup!!!! I’m totally amazed.A caveat- it does transfer. A lot. But even after I blotted, used napkins, blew my nose, and squished my face into those paper-covered cushions, I didn’t look like a hot mess afterwards. For the most part, the foundation stayed put. Even after putting on too much in the morning, I did not see any creases or cakiness on my face. The next day I used up the rest of the sample (using less this time) and again, it lasted all day and looked great. I will definitely purchase.Pros - it stays put, blurs imperfections, full coverageCons - it smells a bit like paint, transfers, and doesn’t stop oil like Doublewear does. Probably not great in the summertime. « less

Worked great for me. It covers my acne very well and leaves a natural finish. It may crease but if you use a mattifying setting powder that should do the trick and if you’re oily like me i’ll use my oil compact throughout the day and it lasts all day

This foundation is so incredibly buildable that I can use it for everything from natural, summer looks to heavy stage makeup. It definitely favors dry skin types more, as it is at most a demi-matte, but with the right primer and powder, it can work for almost any skin tone. I had never bought the same foundation again when I ran out of it until this one, and I’ve tried dozens of different foundations. It can be layered to act more like a concealer and does a good job of color correcting without any help from primers. It’s a truly versatile product that’s worth every penny.

I need foundation help! I used to use MUFE HD foundation for years and years until fenty came out and I gave it a shot. I stuck with it because of the price (and tbh the hype) but didn’t love the oxidation. I switched over to the hydrating formula once that came out, and while I like it, it dries up and creases along my smile lines over time and clings to blemishes. Should I switch back to MUFE? Do you have any other recs?? (Looking for something w/ medium/buildable coverage, combo skin, acne scarring/hyper-pigmentation)

I’d recommend this if you haven’t tried it. It has amazing coverage, a nice natural finish and works well with combination skin.

I’m looking for a couple of things. I’m looking for a primer that will keep foundation out of my pores. I’m looking for a full coverage foundation (like one that doesn’t require concealer expect for under eye correction) that is compatible with combo skin. I’m looking for an under eye concealer that won’t set into my fine lines. Lastly, I’m looking for a setting spray that actually makes my make up look on point all day. Thank you guys!

The e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer and the I Heart Revolution Strawberry Blurring Primer are both amazing at filling in pores, this Clinique foundation has really great coverage and works well with combination skin, ColourPop’s new Pretty Fresh Concealer really doesn’t crease if you set it, and I’m sorry I don’t really use setting spray so I don’t have a good recommendation for that. Hope at least some of this helps :)

Okay I have tried so many foundation lately, and like nothing. 😭 I tried Estée Lauder double wear since EVERYONE swears by.. it broke me out terribly (yes it was the foundation I switched nothing else and waited for my skin to clear before trying it again). Other foundations I’ve tried below...suggestions please prefer a matte finish. -Dior forever -Clinique Stay matte - Too Faced Born this way -Urban Decay all nighter

If you haven’t tried this yet it’s pretty good, it has really good coverage and what I consider to be a more matte finish, and it works well with most skin types.
