Lives up to all its claims

I purchased this foundation after hearing positive reviews about it, and I must say I'm not disappointed in the slightest. The foundation comes in a glass, pump bottle, it is a little heavy, but don't let that put you off! The pump is great as it is really precise and you can control exactly how much you want dispensed, so no fear of wasting any!The bottle looks very chic and glamorous as well with the gold lid, so no embarrassment when you pull it out of your makeup bag in public! The foundation itself has quite a thin consistency, yet it will still manage to cover imperfections and evens out skin tone to a uniform colour, giving a medium finish. It feels very lightweight on the skin and you don't get the heavy, mask feeling that a lot of foundations give. It has a fresh watermelon scent, which is quite pleasant, but only lasts while you're applying the foundation, it fades within seconds, so no lingering smells if you don't like watermelons! The finish is a cross between dewy and matte, it's a very difficult appearance to describe, but I have combination skin, and it manages to moisturise the dry areas, as well as stopping any oily areas looking shiny. It is oil free, and has pretty good lasting power- after a day's wear it still looks fresh, and when I remove my makeup in the evening after applying it in the morning, there is most definitely foundation coming off on my cotton pad, so I know it has lasted throughout the day and hasn't faded away.Clarins say it replicates real skin and this is a high claim, but I think it does a fair job. As long as you blend well, the foundation sinks into your skin without any obvious traces that you're wearing it.All in all, a really fantastic foundation, provides natural, medium coverage, and not only that, but several people have commented on how lovely my skin looks. I can 100% see myself repurchasing his when my current bottle runs out. Am I impressed? YES! A foundation which really does what it says it will! « less

Light Weight

I had done the online chat as I was looking for a makeup that had good coverage but had some moisture as I have normal to dry skin. First of all when I received this makeup in the mail it had clearly been opened and used already. I took it back to my local store and while I was there I tried their sample. The coverage was barely there which would be perfect for some but not for me. So I would say it is a good product but if you are looking for coverage and moisture this isn't the right combo. I ended up purchasing Estee Lauder Double Wear which I am very pleased with.

I have spent the past 2 month searching for the "perfect" foundation - natural finish, medium/buildable coverage, doesn't rub off (which I learned doesn't necessarily have to say long-wearing), and most importantly, doesn't feel like I have makeup on. I've tried NARS (both sheer matte and glow), MAC Studio Fix & Sculpt, Bobbi Brown Skin Finish, Laura Mercier...and finally found it in Clarins Skin Illusion! From the moment I put it on, you could see and feel how amazing it is! It covers up the acne scars on my cheeks flawlessly, and goes on beatufilly with either a brush or my beautyblender sponge. It lasts all day, with only 1 light powder touchup during the day (to cover up the shine on my t-zone). For kicks, I also got a sample of Clarins Ever Matte...combining both of these actually lets me target my problem areas, while still enjoying the benefits of both. I use a little less of the Skin Illusion all over my face, then use a dab of the Ever Matte for my forehead and bridge of my nose. Doing this, I don't have to touch up my makeup AT ALL during the day (7am - 7pm). This does not settle into my lines (I'm 30, with minor laugh lines and some under my eyes). I even let my mother (who's 53) sample it, and she loves it as well! Not to mention, the plant extracts in this smell DI-VINE! So if you have dry/combo skin, def try the Skin Illusion. If you have oily, the Ever Matte is also great, without being TOO mattifying (a little shine never hurts LOL).In terms of shade/color...I wear MAC's NC42 and I got the 114 Cappuccino (yellow undertones) in Clarins. If you're about the same complexion, but have pink undertones, I'd say 113 Chestnut. With that said, the ONLY "issue" I have (and it doesn't really affect me), is that 114 is the darkest shade they have (in both the Skin Illusion and the Ever Matte). For darker complexions, only their Everlasting Foundation comes in 3 darker shades.ENJOY! « less

I have been searching high and low for the perfect foundation as my skin has changed a lot recently and many that used to work for me just weren't anymore. I always preferred mineral based foundations but typically only found loose powder options which were great for everyday but if I wanted a more refined or polished look I always had to layer with a BB cream or Tinted moisturizer. This foundation is light as air, looks natural, and can easily build for more coverage if that is what is desired. I really cannot say enough great things. Doesn't clog pores, awesome staying power, LOVE IT!! The texture reminds me a bit of Armani Luminous silk but slightly richer, it actually smells similar to Armani as well. The scent is pretty unique, I like it but might not be for everybody. You can smell it when you're applying but not once it is on your face. Definitely recommended! « less user

Wonderful product!

This is the best foundation I have ever used! It does exactly what the description says and more. I purchased the cream color and it matches my skin perfectly. The coverage is light to medium depending on how much you use. I use my fingers to apply it and because it's not thick I find that it goes on very smooth and is easy to work with. It looks very natural on which is important for me since I don't like looking like I have a ton of makeup on. I also like the packaging; the bottle comes with a pump which makes it easy to dispense. I have combination skin and I find that it doesn't dry out or make my skin oily. It makes my skin look flawless and leaves a healthy glow. I also suffer from acne and this foundation hasn't aggravated my condition. If I get a pimple it doesn't completely cover it, although it does cover past acne scars. What I like best about this foundation however is that since I started using it about a month ago my skin has actually improved and is healthier which is something no other foundation has done for me! « less
