What to do and what NOT to do when getting a makeover at a dept. store
Hello lovelies! This is a PSA on what to do and what NOT to do when getting a makeover at a dept. store beauty counter (I.e Dillard’s, Macy’s, VonMar, Nordstrom etc)
DON’T
-Come in looking like a flip flop and expect to come out a louboutin. Dept. stores typically don’t require any MUA experience for beauty advisors bc the main focus is to SELL. Therefore, unless you’ve seen your beauty advisor (BA) work, I recommend keeping the expectations low.
-come in with a full face of makeup before your makeover like ????
-make your BA spend two hours with you perfecting every. Little. Thing. And leave without buying anything
-talk/play on your phone the ENTIRE time
DO
-understand that while makeover are usually free, a GOOD BA is sacrificing time they could be selling to make sure you look your best, therefore it’s polite to buy at least one thing, even if it’s just a mascara
-TIPPING IS OPTIONAL BUT APPRECIATED
-always thank your BA, and if you liked their work, ask for their card. We love regulars!
-call if you need to cancel or reschedule
-PLEASE COME ON TIME
Summary: just be kind, timely, and don’t waste your BAs time
