Customer for life!

I have always had problems with foundation, every since I was young. My skin is oily and pale. Sometimes I believe you really do NEED a better brand. In the case of my skin, I am convinced. Before with lesser brands the demarcation lines were obvious. I would spend forever blending them up and down my jawline and neck. I tried them all- Clinique, Sephora, NARS, Stila, Estee Lauder, you name it. Always had an obvious line, and always had to fight my pores clogging up. Even though it says noncomedogenic on the labels I still had issues. That is when I said I would try Chanel. I was surprised it is only $47, a fair price when you consider the brand name. I noticed an improvement immediately. The best part is how versatile this foundation is. In the summer I can put on a tiny amount and look bare-faced. I love the fact it is water based with my oily skin. In the winter I can layer it. I believe this is a better option than a thicker foundation because it allows you to only target the areas that really need it. And less is always more with foundation. At first I only used it alone without other Chanel products. Since then I have purchased the concealer and powder. I am very frugal but am convinced these products are absolutely worth the money. I looked at what I was spending on lesser brands and it truly does even out. I've since tossed my mattifying lotion, blotting sheets, and many of my other skincare products because I don't need them anymore. I truly believe now you are better off just purchasing a few high quality products as opposed to a lot of so-so ones. Especially those that sit on your face all day. Think about it and make the investment. It's worth it! « less

Impressed - perfection Vs vita lumiere

I was debating between the vita lumiere and the perfection lumiere. I purchased the perfection after trying the sample a few times and I was satisfied with the results. However, I was curious to try to vita lumiere. I have combination to oily skin. This morning I used a thin layer of moisturizer underneath the foundation. I probably used about 2 coats. Initially I was under the impression that the vita lumiere was sheer, however upon application I found that coverage is buildable -- I would say medium to full coverage. Like the perfection lumiere, the texture is not obvious and does not scream "I AM WEARING FOUNDATION". It is very natural looking. I wrote a review about the perfection lumiere and said that it was more for an "everyday foundation" and in my opinion seems more sheer even though the coverage is buildable. In my experience, the vita lumiere seems to hold up more -- as I have experienced no greasiness or dewiness (it's been 8 hours), and would recommend this for going out. With that said, in comparison to the perfection, the vita lumiere has a 'slight' matte finish to it. For my personal preferences, I might like the vita lumiere more than the perfection. I purchased both, and will be using both for different occasions. I definitely recommend. « less

Sheer and light .... and amazing coverage!

I am 67 years old with a few laugh lines :-) and this Chanel foundation is AMAZING. So light and natural looking -- totally worth the splurge. Be aware that you only need a TINY bit to achieve beautiful, full coverage that still looks utterly natural and fresh. I have used it both straight from the bottle and with a foundation brush, but I actually prefer using my fingers as the warmth of my hand helps everything blend faster. Be sure to shake the bottle well before you use it, and only use a tiny drop -- like a very small pea. You might find that's all you need! I've tried all the "drugstore" foundations (L'Oreal, Olay, Neutrogena, Revlon, Almay, Cover Girl) but UGH -- they were so heavy, greasy, and fake-looking. Plus they settled into every line and wrinkle, which only made me look like a clown.I will say that since I upgraded my skin care to better-quality products (mainly retinol, exfoiliants and antioxidant serums from Paula's Choice and Peter Thomas Roth) I actually need less foundation. It's kind of amazing what the right skin care can do. But with good skin care and this quality foundation .... you will look so good! « less

Tested Sample-Rush to Purchase Full Size

I couldnt remember where I got my sample of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua broad spectrum spf 15. I looked into every subscription beauty box I receive, including Macys Beauty Box. I ended up at Macys finding this wonderful, life saving foundation or teint as its referred as on the sample. I read the 2nd review listed in this thread and everything she said, I totally agree. You only need a pea size to cover your entire face. After I applied this teint, I had to take a DOUBLE TAKE in the mirror. I'm 57, soon 58. Enlarged pores are my nightmare. Not only does this teint loom like my own skin, it totally blurred my pores. In 6 hours and counting, it has not oxidized, has not settled into fine lines and has not become oily. This base actually looks just like skin. I take great care of my skin and spend the bulk of my splurges on high end skin care. Most days, I dont even wear foundation or a base. I tend to stay with BB Creams or skin tints. Just to even things out. Usually after using powder and setting spray, I good. But, I really havent been satisfied with ANY Brands foundations or skin tints lately until I used my sample of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. My skin is dry so its imperative I use a base that continues to look dewy but not greasy as my day moves forward. This teint looks just as fresh at 8:00pm as it did at 2:00pm. My complexion is a medium/lightbw/neutral undertones. I can go warm or cool. My sample is spot on as far as matching my skin tone. The sample is 30 BEIGE. I'm here to order the full size. Ladies , if you have dry skin and always find your base setting into fine lines and pores, this teint ix for you! 110%!! Sure, its a bit more expensive than some, and even more so than probably what youre use to spending but, if youre like me and reviewer NO. 2, BUY THIS! You will not regret it. The shade range is broad enough, you should be able to match up. « less

Worst Face Makeup I've Ever Tried

I had such high hopes for this makeup after reading reviews that it was light and natural feeling/looking and seeing it recommended by some makeup artists I adore. But nope. It's the worst foundation I've ever used. I tried applying it a few different ways (with/without primer, with/without powder, with fingers, with damp beauty blender, etc.) but nothing made this makeup work for me. The makeup magnified every texture flaw, hugging any flakey dry parts, settling into pores, sitting strangely over some old acne scars, never really settling into my skin. And then it would break apart after an hour or two, like the oil and pigment in the makeup separated on my face so I looked patchy (you also have to shake the tiny container very very hard before use or the oil and pigment will come out separately). I will say that the color (I used beige rose) was a fantastic match for my pale pink skin, and it did not oxidize. But a perfect color match means little when your face looks like a hot, patchy, flakey, spongey mess. Based on all the rave reviews, maybe there's some trick I don't know to using this, or it's just not suited for my combo skin, but I returned this makeup. « less
