With so many people moving into serums and acids just a reminder: You should NOT mix these VITAMIN C + AHAS/BHAS : Combining retinol with Vitamin C is a recipe for peeling, redness and irritation, in short, a total disaster for the health of your skin RETINOIDS + AHAS/BHAS: damages skin moisture barrier and can cause irritation, redness, dry skin over time; use separately and sparingly RETINOIDS + VITAMIN C: may cause over exfoliation, resulting in increased skin and sun sensitivity; separate into day/night routines Benzoyl peroxide + vitamin C OIL-BASED + WATER-BASED. GLYCOLIC ACID + SALICYLIC ACID: too many acids can strip the skin and damage its ability to recover NIACINAMIDE + VITAMIN C: use in careful moderation. Some studies show that They stabilize each other some shoe that mixing vitamin c can result in a niacin flush (red irritation to the skin). -Retinols should mostly be used at night - Vitamin C should mostly be used at night -Wait 20 mins when layering multiple serums (if you find your skin can tolerate it in one setting) -Don’t forger your SPF 30 during the day -When introducing acids to your face “purging” is only normal to a certain extent

These are references telling you how antioxidants differ from acids. And that all do not exfoliate.

High end cleanser for oily/sensitive/acne prone skin? Please help me! I’m having a really hard time finding a cleanser that won’t dry me out. Things that break me out: - Vitamin C - Vitamin E - Salicylic Acid - Glycolic Acid

Try mandelic acid. Its for oily/acne prone/sensitive skin. And if you’re worried about dry outs, always remember to add moisturizer after cleansing. Even with the most gentlest cleansers water evaporates and leaves the skin dry; this will make the skin go “oof its dry. time to overcompensate “ and this leads to super oily skin and more breakouts. I get one pic at a time so I’ll spam some products

This kit i love. Super gentle. My sister bought me this for my birthday. And its great. The “oil to foam” makes my skin baby soft and cuts through makeup like nothing. If you’re worried about too much hydration, follow with an acid wash that doesnt exfoliate. Or rise once. Then wet a face towel to really get it off.

my skin has been oily for years, i would get a pimple here and there when i usually ate one chocolate, skin has always been on the bumpy side though, and i have alot of uneven skin tone. now to try to get rid of the oils and bumpiness my sister recommend using the body shop tea tree soap, then the body shot vitamin c scrub and them the tea tree face mask and to sleep in it. i tried it and got chemical burn, completely broke me out and make my skin more sensitive to everything, i used to be able to use estee lauder double wear and now even that breaks me out. ive tried all the vitamins everyone has recommended, i tried clinique, stirvectin, hydrolic acid, now im on cerave the light blue bottle face wash, i tone put the hydrolic serum and face moisturizer im so close to giving up, my face just looks horrible now i have alot of scarring, still bumpy and red. its embarrassing, any recommendations welcomed!!

@Sandra Rivera having a good skin care regimen is always important. Making sure you cleanse and moisturize every morning and cleansing and toning every night as well. I’m using DermAware products right now for my whole skin care regimen. Has the dermatologist ever recommended chemical peels?

Vitamin C is great for evening skin tone (dark spots, hyperpigmentation). In your skin care routine, it’s best to do cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizers :)

Is it bad to use hylauronic acid, salicylic acid, retinol and vitamin C serum every single night? I mixed all four and it makes my skin look nice, but is it safe? I heard that too much of a good thing, could be a bad thing?

It depends on the percentage and the amount of active ingredients in each product, specifically with the retinol and salicylic acid. If you notice dryness I would alternate the salicylic and the retinol every other night, and maybe take a night off in between. I also use my Vitamin C serum in the daytime! That could help minimize the amount of strong products in your nighttime routine.

my skin has been acting up and in the second picture i have a lot of red spots but they aren’t acne and i have no clue where they are from. on both sides of my face i have acne spots and some scars and i need some advice on what to use to help clear my skin up. my skin type is oily and sometimes it can be combination. i currently use Biore charcoal wash, Soap and Glory vitamin C facial wash, and clean and clear morning burst facial wash. i use the Biore and Clean and Clear one after the other and just slightly wash my face with the Clean and Clear because i like how it makes my face feel refreshed and the day after i use the Soap and Glory facial wash. I switch off nights from toning my face with Thayers witch hazel and alba pineapple enzyme facial wipes. Occasionally if i have a pimple i want to go away i will use a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment or mario badescu drying lotion. i hope this gives y’all an insight on what my skin care routine looks like and what i can do to help my skin be smooth and have even toning

I use this serum after toner and before oil free moisturizer - it helps fade dark marks and control oil production. A few other suggestions about the reaction which sounds like an allergy or irritation: 1. I would wash your whole pillow in case some sort of allergen got into it 2. Get some wipes for your phone and clean it at least once a day 3. Your skin could be reacting to something in one of the products that you are using so I would try a gentle cleanser or even just water and a wash cloth for a couple days until the reaction clears up, then reintroduce products one at a time 4. Even though you have oily skin, I would try an oil free moisturizer with spf - this will actually help your skin produce less oil and prevent dark marks from blemishes

@Sara Elizabeth Antoine I agree with everything said here. In addition, I would recommend adding Mario badescu Glycolic cleanser 2-3 times a week. Especially if you determine the break out isn’t related to allergies, stress, menstrual cycle, or any other changes. I have had good luck with this recommendation and I started using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zync 1% serum at the same time. In my experience it hasn’t necessarily “cleared” my acne, however it has helped a lot with redness and texture. Which can sometimes be half the battle!

I found pure/organic Aloe Vera to work incredibly well! I had a deep cut with 6 stitches on my forehead 4 months ago. Aloe Vera every day after it closed up and it’s faded a lot since!

Hey guys. I’m 23 and looking for a good night routine to reduce pores and brighten my skin. I was thinking about starting with a vitamin E and C serum and maybe some sort of a cream, as well. I have normal/combination skin and don’t want anything too hydrating that will make my skin oily overnight. I am hoping for a 2-3 products max routine so it’s not too time consuming. Please help!! :)

The size of your pores will never permanently reduce in size! Sadly :( Your skin type will never change as this is all genetic! I would say to keep them smaller and cleaned out exfoliate at least 3 times a week! Toners, creams and cleansers cannot close your pores! Cleaning all the impurities, sebum and dead skin from the pore will minimize the affect! I would recommend a hydrafacial for that!

Hello beauties! I just started a new skincare routine and I’m wondering if I’m missing anything? I have combo to oily with skin with lines (around the eyes) just beginning to form and extremely large pores and texture. Morning 1) Miscellar water - Garnier (sometimes a cleanser after - Philosophy) 2) Toner - Fresh 3) Vitamin C - Tatcha 4) Under eye cream - Drunk Elephant (thinking I want to try Shiseido 5) Moisturizer - Drunk elephant polypeptide (currently mixing with DEs marula oil) Night 1) Cleanser - Philosohy 2) Toner - Fresh 3) under eye cream - Drunk Elephant 4) Usually glycerin but I’ve begun introducing retinol, not in the same night! I use one or the other - both Drunk Elephant 5) Moisturizer mixed with the marula oil - DE I’ve been seeing ‘essence’ and don’t really get it lol. Is it just for added hydration?

Hey there! I’ve recently started used the Cerve Foaming Facial Cleanser for normal to oily skin and was wondering if anyone had a good moisturizer to pair with it? I have the oily-est skin ever, I wish I was joking. I usually have to blot my face twice a day, so I’m looking for something that might help reduce my oil rather than making it worse. Tia!
