I currently use a physical exfoliator which I love! It's been working for me well (I don't scrub it hard all over my face, just the places that need it). But I've read that chemical exfoliators are better for your skin and I've been wanting to try it; any reccommendations?? I have oily acne prone skin! TIA

I highly recommend the ordinary aha bha peel! It’s super good and relatively gentle. Don’t use that exfoliator because those kinds of scrubs can cause micro tears in the skin and it’s super bad for your skin. If you want to use a physical exfoliator go for it, just make sure it’s good for the skin!

Foundation for pale, dry skin So I've had a really good experience with the Maybelline FitMe Dewy + Smooth foundation, but during the winter it's just too dark for me, and I can't find a lighter color. I tried the IT Cosmetics Your Face but Better foundation and it is a lovely, lovely formula, but way too dark for my very very fair skin. I also tried the Burt's Bees goodness glows foundation and it's just downright terrible. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue finding a foundation that’s pale enough - especially in the winter. I’m currently using the Fenty foundation - which IS light enough - but I’m not sure I would recommend it for dry skin. It seems to cling to texture. If you’re looking for drugstore makeup, the Covergirl Clean foundation was amazing for my skin but the color didn’t match me too well. I hope you find something! I know your struggle all too well!

Hi everyone! I have dozens of lip balms and lip oils... smith’s rose salves, eos, Burt’s bees... so far aquaphor, neutrogena and dr. Paw paw have worked the best, but still seem to have dry lips and need to constantly apply lip balm. Any suggestions?

Maybe using a lip scrub prior to lip balm will help. I just use coconut oil and pure sugar and it works pretty good.

Good idea! I use the elf scrub but it’s a bit harsh. Maybe I’ll switch to this. Thanks for the idea!

Is there anything to keep my lips not crusty? I use hurts bees but that only lasts for like twenty minutes. I keep applying it over and over again and it gets really annoying. If you do have a recommendation please have it be drugstore. PLEASE HELP!!!

What do you think about the Burt’s bees acne scrub? #acne

Make sure when you use the scrub to really gently rub it in and do not rub it in that long, under two mins. It helps also to just take a small amount at first to test it. My skin does get irritated from scrubs initially but it feels really nice afterword. hope this helps a little.

I’m gonna try not wearing any makeup at all and see if my skin improves. I’m thinking about just using Burt’s bees sensitive face wash and moisturizer, then using witch hazel toner. Any thoughts? My skin is very uneven toned, with redness and rather large pores lately, I thought a total break from makeup might help. Has anyone tried The Daily Set from The Ordinary?

I don’t have sensitive skin but what I can vouch for is that taking a good break from makeup will most definitely help clear up your skin. At the beginning of the year, I was EXTREMELY sick in my first trimester of my pregnancy and I didn’t have the strength or desire to wear makeup to school or really anywhere. I saw it as a victory if I did and decently. 😅 but my skin started to improve immensely and I even got many compliments even though I looked so pale from being so sick lol. I still did my skin care regimen so it contributed a whole lot. Good luck 💛

exfoliating scrubs and the biore pore strips! I use these with my regular facial cleanser and it helps too, i try not to be too rough tho!
Profile picture of Natalie Teeter

CombinationCombination Skin
@Ruby Corona physical exfoliation actually irritates acne and can exacerbate it. Chemical exfoliation on the other hand (like AHA and BHA— glycolic acid/lactic acid and salicylic acid, respectively) can help immensely with minimizing breakouts of whiteheads and blackheads. AHAs can help “unstick” dead skin to prevent pores from clogging while BHA helps actually clear the pores out. Scrubby pads like these are extremely abrasive and also unhygienic for those who get inflamed acne, and can actually worsen breakouts by spreading bacteria from one part of the skin to another.

I agree, Too Faced Born This Way has natural ingredients like coconut extracts and Hyaluronic Acid that replenish moisture.
