Gentle and effective

I'm 18 years old, and I've gone through four bottles of this. The first three lasted me about a year with sparing use, but I've been more liberal with my current bottle, which has lasted about seven months and still has about an inch of product left. Gentle or irritating? I've often considered changing my cleanser just for the sake of trying something new, but every time I finally finish a bottle, I realize that I don't want to try anything else. The cleanser is very gentle, and while the ingredients aren't all natural or organic, they do tend toward the natural side and are non-irritating. This is important because cleansers with harsher ingredients often irritate the skin at some point; this, however, has never irritated my skin or broken me out over the four years that I've used this. I have combination skin, with a very oily T-zone and dry cheeks, and this gently removes all residue without drying out my cheeks. Make-up removing properties This doesn't do a great job at removing makeup. This isn't a problem for me, as I only wear a light concealer or foundation on a few red spots, and a single cleanse usually works well for me (though I do like cleansing my face twice just to be sure). If you wear a full face of foundation, however, I wouldn't rely on this as a makeup remover. I've tried this on eye makeup as well, but it really doesn't remove much; I was left with black stains under my eyes after trying to remove mascara with this. Boscia does have a specific product targeted at makeup removal, but I haven't tried that so I can't recommend it. If you want a more natural form of makeup remover, I've tried olive oil on eye makeup, which works very well; I've heard that jojoba oil is good for the face. I'm pretty sure both are non-comedogenic. Price This is expensive, but for the amount of time that it lasts and for the fact that it consistently works, I think it's worth the price. It's perfect for my combination skin and I never feel the need to buy anything else. How I use it- amount and method I always use less than a full pump. The amount I use covers my fingertip (consider the area from the top joint of your index finger to the top of the finger itself: I use about half of this). I take this amount and spread it so that it evenly coats both fingertips of my hands; I then spread half of it on both cheeks, then spread the rest on my forehead and nose. I just touch my skin gently to loosen any residue, which is enough, then wash it off. I do this twice a day. Age group I don't know anyone from a different age group who's tried this, but I would recommend this for all age groups. It's great for teenagers with troubled skin, as it will most likely not aggravate any acne or redness but will remove oil well enough to at least help the problem. I think the gel is a nice texture that would work for most skin types. My own skin I do get small bumps here and there, but since I started this (at about age 14), I've never had any "breakouts" as long as I use it twice a day. My T-zone is very oily, and my skin is very sensitive and acne prone: if I skip washing my face for a while, I break out. The Clarisonic also broke out my skin. This cleanser, however, has been effective enough to prevent acne with consistent use. « less

severe irritation red bumps

This is meant for people with extremely oily skin, not for people with sensitive, dry, or probe even Normal skin. I got it in a set with the sensitive/normal foreo Christmas set.. So I figured if it was with that foreo then it'd be okay for my skin which is very sensitive and prone to dryness. I knew topical gel moisturizers were drying.. But didn't think it would cause this much irritation. I would not recommend for sensitive, dry, or people that use retin-a. I wish I could exchange it for a better product but can't because it's a gift I assume.

Great for Sensitive Skin/ Rosacea

I purchased the travel kit Boscia offers for normal/combination skin and loved it! I have mild Rosacea on my cheeks.. I have been using this cleanser with the Clarisonic MIA and OMG let me tell you my face has never felt better! My skin is softer, smoother, and the irritation usually caused by other cleansers has gone down dramatically. I love how nice this cleanser feels going on, takes off all my makeup, and a little bit seriously goes a long way. I am one of those people that feel the need to use a huge amount of face wash in order to feel that is is lathering and really cleaning, but just a tiny pump of this and it really gets the job done and leaves you feeling clean! I didn't even know how sensitive my skin was to other products intill I tried this. Other cleansers left my skin a bit red and bumpy, but after just one use I am a believer that all natural products really are the best for your skin. Who knew thats all I needed to switch to for beautiful skin? I don't have any acne problems, just minor occassional breakouts, but this seems to have helped as well with that! I also purchased the balancing facial tonic toner which I have reviewed as well by Boscia, both get 5 stars in my book! I'd say this is even great for non-sensitive skin, it just works so well and has none of the nasty harsh chemicals you find in alot of skin care brands these days which do the opposite of caring for your skin. This will last you at least double the amount of time a drugstore brand will, and is totally 100% worth every penny. If you haven't tried this product, or the Clairisonic Mia, do yourself a favor and invest in your skins health! You'll be happy you did « less

best i've tried

I have rather oily, breakout-prone skin. I've tried almost everything: Neutrogena, Clean&Clear, St. Ives, Proactiv, Aveeno... all had varying results but none really satisfied my needs. Since then, I switched to the Clarisonic and used the Clarisonic cleanser for normal skin, which had given me the best results thus far. When I went to Sephora to restock, the sales associate said they didn't have the Clarisonic cleanser but gave me samples of the Ole Henrickson Aloe Vera Deep Cleanser and this product, since they were both mostly natural and a good texture to use with the Clarisonic. I tried the Ole Henrickson first and liked it a lot, the green color neutralized the redness of my skin and the cleanser had a clean tingly feeling. While the product left my skin a little dull, at the end of the day I could get used to it since my skin was so oily. Then I tried the Boscia, and found my skin to be softer and smoother than I'd known it could be. My pores are noticeably smaller and when I'd had to clean whiteheads almost every wash (sorry for the graphic detail) I no longer have to. The small sample of the Ole Henrickson lasted for nine days and would be worth the price, but this sample has lasted for 11 and counting, and is definitely worth the cost over the drug store brands. Additionally, I used to follow my cleaning regimen with witch hazel and a moisturizer, which presented problems since my skin is dry after washing but very oily later in the day. Because this cleanser is so gentle, I've skipped the moisturizer entirely, and at the end of the day my skin is much less oily and uneven than usual, helping me avoid having to use a lot of blotting sheets! These benefits also save some cost. Over all, very happy, and am likely to stick with this cleanser for a very long time! « less

I'm in my early 30's, and have combination/oily skin, on top of that I suffer from acne almost every day. For years I've been searching for the close-to-perfect cleanser, and now I've find it! I first tried it only because it was a sample. The cashier said she uses it, and loves it (she has really nice skin too), so she recommended I try it. I was a bit skeptical, but since my skin was at its worst I decided to try it. My skin condition was already disappointing, so how worse can it get? I tried the cleanser that same evening and WOW!... I was immediately surprised at how gentle the cleansing gel felt. I only used a small amount and it lathered up quickly. My skin felt hydrated, clean, and soft. The following morning I expected to break out with new acne, but nope... not even one. And the acne from the previous day had calmed down. It's been 2-weeks now of using Boscia and I only broke out once, but that was it! And that is a huge deal for me, considering how often I used to break out. I know everyone has different skin conditions, so I'm not suggesting this cleanser will work for you... but it is working for me. And now I can finally stop searching. « less
