Disappointing

With all of the great reviews, I sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world that doesn't like this formula. I purchased last year's holiday set and have a mini of Beetroot, and I so wanted to love this lipstick formula. I thought I would because I also have the double-ended lipstick in Paloma/Violet, which I LOVE for being smooth, light-weight, super-pigmented and long-wearing. Alas, the double-ended one is a totally different formula. In comparison, I find Amuse Bouche thick and dry. It goes on very patchy and absolutely requires a lip balm underneath to go on smoothly. The colors are pretty and they are long-lasting enough, but I miss the smoothness and texture of the double-ended lipsticks. And even though the Amuse Bouche is a cream, it is not creamy or moisturizing at all. I have many other lipsticks, both high end and drugstore, that perform so much better than this. Just really disappointed, because I love what this brand stands for and how they manufacture their products. But I give up on this formula. « less

A true underrated brand

I received three shades of this lipstick as a free sample: Gazpacho, Beetroot, and Pepper. What I love most about the Amuse Bouche lipsticks is the concept behind them - these lipsticks have the most delicious citrus scent and are essentially entirely edible, just as the name of the company hints at. The formula is super pigmented and very creamy. My lips dry easily, so I love that these lipsticks are made with hydrating ingredients. I tried Gazpacho first. I love red lipstick, but I was a little intimidated by this one. Blue-reds don't generally work well with my skintone, but this one is an exception. I felt confident wearing it all day and it lasted my entire 8-hour work shift without fading and with very little fraying upon reapplication. Beetroot was surprisingly my least favorite of the three. I have to say, the color is gorgeous and one I wear frequently. I wore this one on Valentine's Day and regretted it. My boyfriend took me to a burger restaurant for lunch and the lipstick ended up all over my chin and somehow on the plate too. I regularly wear bold lipsticks out to eat, so I'm not sure what made this one different. In the case of a dark lipstick, I don't like a creamy texture quite as much because it is unforgiving. Pepper was my favorite of the three. The shade truly matches with anything and is versatile in pairing with different eye makeup. This shade worked especially well with my skintone and was long-lasting. I only had to reapply once during the day. I'm definitely looking forward to getting my hands on some other shades and reviewing them. « less

#TheAmuseBouche does not disappoint!

This product easily put Bite Beauty into my top three go-to brands for lipstick! From the shades listed above I own Pepper, Beetroot, and Gazpacho. I was impressed with how smoothly I was able to apply the lipstick; it has a very creamy texture. Usually, I would need to wear a lip primer or another product as a base for my lips since most lipsticks tend to dry them out, but this product has great moisturizing properties and nearly felt as if it was nourishing my lips as I wore it throughout the day. One aspect that I particularly liked was that when I removed the product later on, my lips still felt soft and moisturized. Although my lips tend to feel stripped or chapped when I remove some lipsticks and lip glosses, I was pleased to discover that I didn't encounter that issue at all with this brand. The overall comfortable wear that I encountered while using the Amuse Bouche lipsticks really left a positive, lasting impression with me regarding the quality of Bite Beauty's products. The pigmentation of the lipstick was another winning factor that I noticed during use. I have a mixed ethnic background and tend to have a lot of yellow undertones to my skin. When I wear makeup, I usually either have to create custom colors to work with my skin tone or cross my fingers and hope for the best result. Finding lipsticks is particularly challenging for me because it can be difficult to find shades that will work with my skin tone without clashing too much. I didn't have that issue with any of the Amuse Bouche shades that I have tried so far. The picture I've included shows just how beautiful these shades truly are. The first shade depicted is Pepper, which is described as a "Dusty Rose". I definitely agree with this. When I first looked at this shade, I thought it would be a bit more of a rosy nude color, but it definitely has a rose pigmentation to it. Personally, I think this shade is great if you're wanting to do more of a natural makeup look or something more casual. It's subtle, but gorgeous. The second shade depicted is Gazpacho, described as a "True Blue-Red". I was very happy with this shade since reds with more blue undertones tend to be more flattering for my skin tone. It is a bold red and ideal if you are seeking to achieve that vintage Hollywood glamour look. Honestly, I think this is a shade that would look great on a variety of skin tones, so don't be intimidated by how vibrant the red is in the images! The third shade depicted is Beetroot, which has been described as a "Bold Berry". Initially, I imagined that this was going to have more violet tones on my skin when I looked at the lipstick in the tube, but I was pleasantly surprised that it definitely has more noticeably red qualities when I wear it. I think this is a very versatile shade and would be the option I would choose if I was seeking a shade that I could wear with a casual makeup look during the day that could be transitioned into a more intense makeup look for going out later on at night. The product itself is long-lasting and could easily be worn all day if necessary. I like that there is an extensive color collection to choose from, which is great for those of us that are lipstick addicts! I plan on adding many more of these shades to my collection soon and highly recommend them to anyone seeking a quality lipstick. The final image in my included picture shows Gazpacho, Pepper, and Beetroot next to each other when I initially received them and hopefully showcases just how beautiful these shades are. Bite Beauty is truly remarkable! « less

Obsessed. A+ formula, many nice shades

I haven't reviewed anything before, despite that I have a lot of make-up. But I read them often, and I am crazy for this lipstick, so: I'm very, very fair-skinned with blue eyes and very dark brown hair, and my lips are pretty white, too (pretty cool, not). I've always gravitated toward red lip colors, I've found that "nude" lipsticks weren't good for me, but I wanted to try something new and more subtle than another red. Anyway, I tried a couple Nars nudes (which I normally like), but they looked eh on me, too brown, heavy, etc. I haven't bought any Bite before even though I had heard great things. Bite had SO many really pretty nude colors! I was so happy to find Verbena, it's exactly what I wanted. It's what I would assume my lips should look like naturally (or what I always want them to be), but with a pretty, subtle sheen and texture. What else could a girl want from a nude? Anyway, the formula is the best part: pigmented, not drying, I don't want to say "creamy," though, because I tend to associate creams with a texture I have to re-apply more often than I care for. Or greasy. This lipstick has more of a "light-but-long-wearing" texture—it FEELS sheer putting it on but it is highly pigmented. You can do a quick swipe and find it has good coverage, but you can also build. I prefer to use a brush with all of my lipsticks (otherwise they are too dark or thick), but I tried this one from the tube, and it was comfortable and pretty. Plus it smells so fresh (lemon verbena for this shade of course), all-natural formula, etc. Love that. « less

Any matte Liquid lipstick is always going to dry out your lips so it’s really important to use a good lip mask at night to rehydrate your lips. Laneige makes a great lip sleeping mask. Blistex lip serum is also pretty good and is cheap. A moisturizing solid lipstick is prob your best best - bite beauty amuse bouche is really moisturizing and stays on well, though it does leave marks on drinking glasses, fair warning lol
