Favourite Highlighter

High Beam is everything a highlighter should be; opaque, shimmery, very light, and smooth. It is incredibly easy to use, as most Benefit Cosmetic products are (simplicity is key!). I've used other highlighters by Benefit, like Girl Meets Pearl and Watts Up, but I definitely prefer High Beam, it's easier to apply, prettier on, and not overpowering with pigment but reflective of light. A little bit goes a long way, and I love the bottle, the brush is perfect for swiping or dotting a bit on. I find if I put it over a primer and set it with powder, it will stay all day, which is great, and unlike Watts Up, it isn't sticky nor does it make me feel like my face is being weighed down. You can very easily blend it or leave it on heavily. Honestly, if I'm traveling lightly I bring an eyeshadow trio, BB cream, they're real mascara, and high beam. I got a tiny trial size bottle from a kit, and I've had it for 6 months and with everyday use the bottle still isn't empty! I typically put it on after concealer so that I can seal it with a setting powder. I've learned I like putting a dot on each brow bone, a dot above my upper lip, a stripe down my nose, and triangle under my eyes but above/at my cheekbones, like in the diagram I included. (: Less

Yes!

this is the best highlighter and my absolute favorite. i use this everyday and this is my 2nd time buying it. the color is perfect for fair skin and gives the right amount of highlight without all the extra glitter and excess shimmer. it's like you've got a candle lit glow. you can build this from a soft sheer coverage to full on gold in your face without it looking overdonethe applicator is perfect. allows you to easily apply wherever you need to. i use this on my cheekbones, sometimes my nose, and under my eyebrows. it comes with a dual sponge on the other end which helps to blend things out so you don't need a separate brush for it.it lasts all day. i come home from 8 hrs of work look in the mirror and my cheekbones are STILL highlighted and looking fierce. i don't use a makeup spray setting or a primer prior so this product's lasting power is impressive. bless up. Less

Soft natural glow

Really didn't think this shade would show up on me being a nude pink shade. And I generally don't wear pink blushes nor highlighters. I'm medium, warm yellow/golden undertones. Decided to try it on. Surprisingly very flattering on my skin tone. Doesn't show up pink. Instead peach/golden. This is the softest highlighting powder I've every tried. The texture, consistency, so smooth and lightweight. Blends right into my skin giving me a subtle glow that's not glittery. A very subtle shimmer effect. Can intensify it a little spraying brush with setting spray. Love that it does not emphasize texture on my skin. Because the powder is so fine, lightweight and natural looking I'm even able to dust it on entire face lightly without that high gleam look. Something I never do with highlighters. My skin looks brighter in a very natural way. Can kick up a little powder but just tap brush in box before applying. That way there's no product loss. Compliments well with a peach blush.

At first in doubt, now can't live without!

I got this recently as a deluxe sample and I let it sit for a long time because I'm not big on cream makeup. My skin is on the oily side and I have plenty of powder highlighters I love. I just didn't think much of it so it languished for a while. One day I was sleep deprived and feeling like a zombie and I figured maybe I could try this under my eyes to brighten me up a little. I was very impressed by how much this color corrected the area and stayed put! Then I figured, since it's matte and actually provides some coverage, I'll try it on the insides of my cheeks, next to my nose where I have some redness & dull skin. Well, now I use this pretty much every single day and it's fantastic. I do three streaks of it going outward from my nose like whiskers, and then blend all over my cheeks, and use a little on my chin and under-eye area as well, and my entire face is brightened up without tons of concealer or heavy products. I'm really impressed by how much this actually covers the discoloration in my skin and since it's matte it makes your skin look lit from within and very natural. I'm essentially using it as a primer. I need less makeup over it because this stuff is like a natural looking, illuminating camouflage! My powder foundation or CC cream goes on beautifully over it. You also need only a very small amount to cover most of your face so a full size bottle of this would last a very long time even with heavy use like I use it. I feel so much prettier and brighter when I've got this one under other makeup and my skin is noticeably more dull, ruddy and red without it. Definitely true love for this product and I highly recommend trying it as more of a primer on discolored or dull areas. It is more subtle as a highlighter but that makes it perfect for brightening the whole T zone and using it over a broader area of the face before other makeup or even by itself. Love it. Less

Not the best product

I'm a huge Benefit fan but this is not their best product. This product is marketed to be a cream-to-powder but even on my dry skin it stayed "creamy" and tended to migrate around. It's surprisingly a difficult product to work with. It is not very sheer (the pigment density could be a plus for some people) and is very "sparkly".I tried working with a variety of application tools from a beauty blender sponge to a brush to fingers. I had the best luck using a brush, please note the built in sponge is not a great option either. It's pretty much like a Bingo dauber. I did like this as an eye shadow/highlighter, but on dry skin it was pretty unusable and not very blend-able.I think there are much better products out there to use and I was disappointed.

any good highlighters that don’t ruin my foundation and make me look dry and patchy?
