CombinationCombination Skin
I have dry, acne prone skin and I have been trying everything to get rid of my acne for the past year! nothing works (curology, neutrogena light mask, acne washes, tea tree oil, mario badescu- you name it!) does anyone have any recommendations for a natural at home remedy for acne? I’m done with all the chemicals ingredients on my face.

I know you said no chems but the only thing that worked for me was 1 session of a chemical peel (ask for 7 layers) and drink ONLY water in place of any other beverage. ONLy WaTeR!! Don’t believe me, look at my before and afters. Still can’t believe it’s me. - 1 session of a strong chemical peel -Drink Water ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Oxy gently in circular motions until face starts feeling tingly. -and an oil free moisturizer! Let me know how it goes! Good luck!

Honestly I did like three to four different sessions of chemical peels and they really were life changing. Unfortunately for me my acne continued so I went on Accutane

Is it bad to do a face mask everyday? How often should I do a face mask?

There walways has to be one person that doesn’t follow the rules - this girl (points to self). There are some masks that are safe enough to use everyday, but the general rule is 2-3 times/week. It totally depends on the type of mask and what you’re using it for. Exfoliating mask? You will burn your skin. Hydrating mask? Def less of a risk. My personal rule of thumb is to let your skin guide you. If it starts to feel sensitive, lay off. If you can handle it, then why not? Right? To each their own. It really depends on the product, the concentration of the active ingredient, and the sensitivity of your own skin. Just as an example, I tagged a mask that recommends to be used 2-3 times a week. I spoke with the company’a reps, however, and it was safe to use everyday! So there are exceptions to every rule. Better to use your best judgment.

I recently tried the St. Ives Soothing Sheet Mask and loved it! During my time of the month my skin goes bananas. I get crazy breakouts, texture, and just overall dry and sensitive. This mask made my skin feel so much better. I was left feeling super hydrated, my pores looked smaller, and it calmed my irritation and redness! I highly recommend!

Honestly it’s over hyped and people need to stop thinking Apple cider is the save all end all. It goes out too fast and it’s only one type of clay. If you want an AMAZING clay mask that calms your skin and sucks out oil and acne bacteria, look at what I listed (I actually would rather get the Studio 35 on but I couldn’t find it they are basically the same thing) whole yes it does have some fragrance, it’s a wash off so it doesn’t actually enter your skin.

@Haley Castro thank you! I had ordered a two for 20 deal on Sephora and then I started hearing not so great reviews. I think when I get the package I might return it but at the same time I wanted to give them a try 😅 they’re supposed to be smaller sizes too.

my skin has been oily for years, i would get a pimple here and there when i usually ate one chocolate, skin has always been on the bumpy side though, and i have alot of uneven skin tone. now to try to get rid of the oils and bumpiness my sister recommend using the body shop tea tree soap, then the body shot vitamin c scrub and them the tea tree face mask and to sleep in it. i tried it and got chemical burn, completely broke me out and make my skin more sensitive to everything, i used to be able to use estee lauder double wear and now even that breaks me out. ive tried all the vitamins everyone has recommended, i tried clinique, stirvectin, hydrolic acid, now im on cerave the light blue bottle face wash, i tone put the hydrolic serum and face moisturizer im so close to giving up, my face just looks horrible now i have alot of scarring, still bumpy and red. its embarrassing, any recommendations welcomed!!

@Sandra Rivera having a good skin care regimen is always important. Making sure you cleanse and moisturize every morning and cleansing and toning every night as well. I’m using DermAware products right now for my whole skin care regimen. Has the dermatologist ever recommended chemical peels?

This is the exfoliating face wash I use! It’s really gentle if you wanted to use it everyday at first and then work your way to 2-3 a week, but it gets the job done really well! 😊

You don’t want to do a face mask every day. 2-3 times a week is plenty. However if you’re looking for something that is dual purpose I really like the overnight sleeping mask from Laneige. It’s light weight and hydrating and feels like a thick cooling night cream. I Love it.

Why does my face sting after using moisturizer/face masks? This is a development that’s only happened in the past month. I’ve tried different moisturizers and different face masks and they all sting after I use them. I don’t wash my face/use moisturizer more than five times a week and face mask 2x at most, if I remember to use them at all. My skin is combination and sensitive. Do you think it’s ruining my ph balance?

I bet you’re using a mask that’s irritating your skin/ throwing off your pH— maybe try an oil balm cleanse before you wash your face with a gentle cleanser, like cetaphil. For balm cleansers, I love the Banila Co clean it zero balm. It’s so buttery smooth and unscented.

The Ordinary brand azelaic acid and niacinamide! Miracle workers. I use along with their moisturizing factors and once weekly acid peel and my very sensitive acne prone skin is clearer than ever!
