Surprised I love this!

I have historically had very oily skin, but as I have gotten older, my skin has shifted to normal with a tendency to get oily in the t-zone, especially on the nose. It is now June, so my skin is at a greater tendency to get oily, so I tend to wear matte foundations at this time of year. Anyway, I was sent a sample of this primer and as soon as I saw it, I assumed it would make my skin greasy. Nevertheless, I don't love the look of matte foundations (I choose them for lasting power in summer), so I decided to give this a try under my matte foundation (Makeup Forever Mat Velvet +) to see if it converted it to a more natural finish. As I hoped, this primer made my skin look super natural and healthy. But what really impressed me was how it lasted throughout the day. I have been wearing this for a few days now. I don't put much of this on my nose, I focus it on my cheeks and the areas where I don't tend to get oily, with only a small amount in the nose area. I have been putting on the rest of my makeup as normal, setting my undereye area with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder and the rest of my face with the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Powder. This really seems to last. My Makeup looks great all day and I have noticed that it has actually helped the lasting power of my foundation. At the end of the work day, my makeup still looks good. I think this is fantastic for normal to normal/oily combination skin, as well as dry skin. I am glad I took a risk and tried this. This is not something I would have chosen on my own so I'm glad I decided to take a chance!

My New Favorite Primer

Let's start off with references to my skin texture/pores/type/color/etc. I have oily/combination skin where most of my oil production occurs on my T-zone (mostly towards my forehead/in between my eyesbrows), and sometimes near my eyes/under my eyes. However, my nose tends to be on the dryer side, but that could also be caused by the salt soaks I do for my nose piercing. I also have naturally small pores and smooth texture. I do have sensitive skin with prone to breaking out and acne scarring. Now onto the product. Simply amazing. I waited a week of trial and error with this product before writing up a review and I don't think I found any error. On it's own, this primer really does give that radiant glow to your skin - that "lit from within" type of glow and not that "sweaty I just ran a marathon" glow (but if that's what you're into I apologize). Under my foundation is even better! I use Urban Decay's Naked foundation as well as Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation for special occasions and this primer instantly gives that soft glow. Not only does it smooth and primes my skin, it's long-lasting! Although I do get oily at around 2 PM - 3 PM (normal for me), it still keeps my makeup in place after I blot! I put my foundation at around 7 AM before work and my makeup still looks flawless at 9 PM when I remove it. Talk about all day wear. I used to use Smashbox's original primer (the clear one) and although that one works amazing as well, it did sometimes separate my makeup at the end of the day. Definitely not as long-lasting as this one. The only other primer that is comparable to this one is Makeup Forever's Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. This one is super long lasting and so great for oily skin - BUT it doesn't give that radiant glow I like from this primer. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this primer. All my oily gals out there, don't sleep on this! It's definitely worth the try to get a sample (if you can) before making a purchase.

Favorite All-Purpose Primer

This is the only primer I have ever repearchased. It feels moisturizing upon application, but I'd recommend moisturizing well and letting that set for a minute or two before application of the primer. For me, this seems to allow the primer to apply more evenly across the skin, and helps it soak in a bit better. I have normal/combo skin with a bit of scaring and small (usually hormonal) breakouts around my chin. This primer applies smoothly across my bumps and has a SLIGHT blurring effect. I feel like my skin always looks more perfected, and my pores are masked in a natural looking way. I generally wear medium buildable foundations over top it, so throughout the day I get a lovely glow through my base. If you wear a super matte foundation, you may only see it shine through if used as a mix-in. The primer applies as a sheer and glossy champagne, and looks nice on my fair skin (NC10). I usually use a light layer of this all over, but have also worn it just on the cheek bones under foundation (you don't need a lot, and I find it works best applied in thin, minimal layers). I've also worn it solo, which I love. I really notice a difference in my makeup when using this. I don't love this when my skin is more oily, which happens on occasion-- but I would still use on my cheek bones and then apply an oil controlling primer on problem areas. It does have a light scent, but I don't mind it, and it fades pretty quickly. It doesn't irritate my sensitive/acne-prone skin either, so yay! « less

Not worth it

I dont have any problems with the product but its just not doing anything for me. I have combination skin and my skin will naturally glow after a few hours so I do not see this as a must have. I used it all over my face and after finishing my makeup with powder being the last step its like this product is not even on my face. No glow at all. I hear a lot of people with dry skin liking it but for me I do not even see a glow. Maybe if I dont set my makeup with powder it will show up but I have to use powder on my tzone. I am aware that the glow will be very subtle but I am looking very closely at my face and even in artificial light I do not see any glow or illuminating effects from this product. I absolutely love the liquid skin perfectors than this. I can place it in the areas I want and actually makes my skin glow and it looks absolutely natural. For me this seemed to be overpriced and not doing what its supposed to do. This product also has a scent. So if you do not like scents you might not like it. « less

Glow from within

I recently purchased this product and have to say I don't know how I coped without it!! As with all Becca products it has a lovely luxe feel to the packaging. The product itself goes on flawlessly and I have tried it under a couple of different foundations from light coverage (MAC face & body) to more full coverage (Armani - Luminous Silk/Chanel - Vita Lumiere Satin/Bobbi Brown - Foundation Stick) and it provides a beautiful 'lit from within' glow under all the above. It provides long lasting wear (I had about 10 hours wear) without any touch ups to my foundation. I combined it with the under eye brightener and again this is a fab product I now don't travel without. Texture is silky and a little goes a long way, it also doesn't feel heavy and can even be worn alone if you are going for a very natural look. For those that like a soft glow I highly recommend it creates a very flawless look and photographs fantastically. « less

i need a primer that doesn't make my skin greasier than it already is! i have the smashbox photo finish primer but it makes my skin literally feel slimy. i also would love it to be pore minimizing, and preferably on the cheaper side. i know i'm asking for a lot but anything would be helpful! #oilyskin #primer

Becca backlight priming filter. Also, make sure you are using a water-based primer (as opposed to silicone-based) if your skin is feeling greasy or if your prone to oily skin
