to be so light, coverage is great!

This is my second attempt at using bare minerals and my first attempt at it i felt like it wasn't worth the price for the caky appearance and light coverage it offered. since then, i have been in poor health and needed a makeup that would work on very sensitive skin that would be dry after i undergo treatments. Once again i was directed to the bare essentials bare minerals line, so i decided to give it one more try. i bought the solid concealer in light because it has more yellow pigmentation in it and since my main purpose of using concealer is to cover under eye circles which apear a purplish color, the concealer has worked like a charm on them. very easy to blend into your foundation. i apply it with the concealer brush and just pat-blend it in with my finger and you cant even tell there is makeup on. this is also an awesome product to use as a highlighter inareas like the nose bove the lip, between eyebrows and on the inner corners of the eyes and on the eyelids. Also when applied to the eye lids, it works as an amazing primer to adhere the eyeshadow. « less

Amazing Concealer!!

I bought this on a whim after using up my Benefit Boi-ing concealer. I had heard good things about this concealer. I wanted something lighter feeling, creaseless and non-drying. Plus I loved the added bonus of SPF and no harsh chemicals and stuff that isn't good for your skin. I try to keep my makeup natural if at all possible, and this was cheaper than my beloved Beneift Boi-ing, so I figured it was worth a try. Well, after a few days of use; I have to say I am amazed at this concealer. I have some pretty dark hereditary dark circles and this does an amazing job of not only covering them; but also brightening my under eye area. It's going to be great for days when all I have time for in the morning is mascara and concealer. This concealer stays put, is creaseless, non-drying, doesn't flake off, and is weightless. Not to mention super creamy and easy to blend in. Love it!! Not going back to the more expensive Benefit Boi-ing after trying this. « less

Weird, "Melty" consistency is too slick

In general, Bare Minerals is a simplified, fool-proof makeup line great as an introductory make up line for those beginning to use makeup, those whose makeup routine is minimal, or those looking for a low-maintenance routine to just "get them by". It makes good quality products but not high performance ones. I enjoyed using their products when I first began wearing makeup at 14, but now I've realized their products are no longer for me. To be honest, their best products were in the original line ( the original foundation, etc). In the last few years, they have begun "trying too hard" in their attempt at over-innovating, and their most recent products have been misses in my opinion. I'm not sure if I will repurchase this concealer. First off, I LOVE the packaging: sleek, streamlined and compact. It has a mirror and I love that the lid is attached for when you find yourself in a rush: you just flip the cap, dip your finger in and snap it shut (what I wish I could do with the Benefit Boi-ing concealer). However, the "melty" consistency is too weird for me. This product has exactly the same consistency as a piece of chocolate after it has melted in your hand; lots of people are interpreting this as "creamy," but I think slick is a better word. Normally, I prefer liquidy concealers for my undereye area because it is gentler to spread and creases less, and thicker ( drier or waxy) pot concealers to spot treat on my face as they stay put better. This concealer's consistency is in the middle, so I don't know what to use it for. It's too thick for under the eyes so it creases like crazy even after I set it with powder. But, it's too "melty"/slick to spot conceal on my face... it slides around, takes THE longest time to dry /set and results in medium coverage only. You have to put on 2 layers to get full coverage. Honestly, if this stuff came in a larger pot, it would make a better cream compact foundation than a concealer. Also, each shade category consists of two undertones: neutral and yellow. It claims to be a corrector also, but those are usually salmon-colored. The medium- neutral shade (med 1) is still too yellow for me. I prefer Benefit's Boi-ing to spot conceal because it has a drier, thicker consistency that stays put and provides full coverage while still being smooth and creamy. Also, the pink-toned 02 shade matches me perfectly. « less

Love, Love, Love

I love this product. It adds about 5 minutes to my get-ready time because I use it first. I a smaller brushed shaped like my concealer one, apply the product to thoroughly cover any blemishes. I go pick out my clothes for the day or work on my hair, then come back and blend the product in with the same brush, as if I were painting. I set it with the powdered BareMinerals concealer left on my brush after concealing my under-eyes, then apply foundation if I need it and my mineral veil. It can settle into dry patches or scabs if used on acne spots, but covers smooth blemishes very well. Overall, I would recommend it if you love bare minerals but need a little extra coverage. Go into the store and have an associate test the color on you - I was a shade lighter than I thought I would be. « less

The Goldilocks Concealer

Thank goodness this is only a concealer because if it were a foundation I would probably slather it all over my face every single day. My skin can get pretty dry, so when I slack on moisturizing, fine lines become visible. I also tend to have some redness, under eye circles and stray pimples. Nothing too hard to cover up, BUT dry skin and fine lines are a nightmare to work with because makeup tends to make dry flakes and patches more pronounced and settle into fine lines. I use to have to compromise between looking cakey but covered or blotchy but smoother. It was really frustrating. A while back I read up on reviews and was planning to purchase Benefit's concealer. Luckily one of the Sephora girls steered me to this product instead, saying that it would be much more hydrating. She was 100% right. I wouldn't say this is the highest coverage concealer, but what it compromises in full-on opacity it makes up ten-fold in hydration, texture and overall appearance. I use it to dot the blemishes, combat under eye darkness, blend out redness and even on my eyelids as an eye shadow primer. Any little imperfection and I'll just dab a bit on. It's entirely buildable and really easy to work with. It doesn't break me out at all. It has enough moisture so it doesn't bring out my fine lines and as long as I keep up with my moisturizing routine, I am able to create a pretty dewey, flawless complexion and that is all I am looking for. « less
