Fantastic for dark circles

I visited Sephora during a major color corrector promotion. It seemed like a fad to me (I've tried green tones on acne spots before and no matter how well I blended it still looked...green), so I wasn't expecting to be impressed when an employee pulled me over to the Algenist display. He mixed a few drops of the pink color corrector with their complete renewal eye cream and applied it to the (admittedly rough looking) dark circles under my eyes. It immediately looked better than my usual concealer routine--my circles were invisible and my eyes looked brighter. I left with both the eye cream and the pink color corrector. In the store they encouraged mixing a drop or two in moisturizer but I quickly found that didn't work that well for me. I have fair skin that is prone to redness/dryness, so I have to be super specific about where I'm applying. Instead I apply the eye cream or my usual moisturizer first, put a drop on the back of my hand and apply with my fingertip. A little goes a LONG way--use too much and your dark circles will be pink circles. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now and not only has it pretty much replaced my usual undereye concealer, but I've noticed an improvement in overall skin tone under my eyes. Totally worth trying out. « less

surprisingly great!

I ordered the Algenist drops in orange for the dark circles under my eyes. The texture of the serum is very smooth and you need very little to cover your under eye area and even work it into a triangle if you want. The drops blend well using a brush, a beauty blender, or your fingers and the color blends in very well despite the brightness of the color in the bottle. Once the drops have been applied and blended, my skin is so soft and my pores invisible. I have tried other color correcting products and this is the best yet. I highly recommend you find the color(s) you require and purchase this product ASAP. It is on the pricy side for what it is, but given how little product is used for each application and the fact that they work so darn well, I still consider it a good value for the money. « less

Disappointed

My under eye area is not that dark. Still I've wanted to brighten it up and thought this would be the perfect product. I've tried different techniques but the product either didn't work or looked terrible. The first thing I noticed is that it can be a bit drying. I've had problems recently with my eye area being drier than usual, so a product that dries me out is a bit of a problem. To counter this I did use a heavier eye cream and it alleviated the dryness. The second problem is that it is so thin and liquidy, something I thought that would be good but ended up being bad. I don't like super heavy coverage and usually opt for light coverage products. The problem this lead to was it either made no difference because a little doesn't make any noticeable difference -which says something since I have barely darker under eyes- or when adding more the layers would dry quickly, so when you mix wet on top of dry it creates those splotches of either no product or too much. The worst was today, I tried the not so creamy eye cream, eye primer and this on top. It didn't seem to make any kind of improvement and after running to meetings all day and finally stepping into the bathroom I was mortified to see these massive lines under my eyes. During the day, while smiling, talking, and making general facial expressions the product shifted around to create what shockingly looked like deep long wrinkles from my inner eye, down to the center of my eye. I'm starting to get the finest of fine lines there but it looked like my skin had aged 25+ years. At first I went into shock, then I calmed down and realized it was the product bunching and a quick buff mostly fixed it. But I had just spent all day in meetings. >.< As for the application, I've tried using my finger but I don't personally suggest this. The darker area is limited to the lower inner corner and down a bit. My ring fingers are just too large for this area and end up getting the pinky color on my already slightly red/rosacea cheeks. They aren't super red but adding a red-ish color on top was an absolute no-go. Next I tried using a brush but that didn't help alleviate the other above issues. I'm giving it one more shot tomorrow with a smaller softer brush. If it ends up being the miracle solution for application, I will update the review. Otherwise, the return form has already been filled out. « less

Daily Greens

I rarely wear foundation or any tinted products so I am constantly looking for color correcting priming products which I'll pair with Tony Moly pressed powder or Cover FX transparent loose powder. Algenist concentrated color correcting drops are amazing in terms of effectiveness (and to be honest I own all of the colors but use geen most often). They are a bit thicker than I origionally imagned however they blend well without settling into fine lines and layer without appearing cakey over blemishes. I genrally apply with a sponge and use alone directly over (or as) makeup primer. I have never tried mixing drops with foundation. In terms of popularity I use blue the second most (would equate it to a lavender/pink based corrector) then apricot and peach (? I think, got via Sephora). « less

best for spot correcting EVER

So this is probably one of the best color correctors I have ever used and Ill tell you why. This is not a primer or a paste, it is a thin liquid that you can dab on with your fingers beauty blender or if you really want a foundation brush. I use this after my primer just on my cheeks and dab with my finger until it is blended into the skin. It not a deep green but a very light weight tint of green that covers redness phenomenally. I have used a ton of different types including make up forever, smash box, drugstore and UD. I want something that isn't going to add more layers and this one does just that. So when I say this one is the best I mean it. I got the deluxe sample size but will definitely be purchasing more when this runs out. Thank you so much Sephora/Algenist for this you have made me a lifetime customer. « less
